ooh.... check this out, this robot pulled me across the basketball gym like the guy in the video... but I weigh twice as much!
Pretty amazing for a 'bot built with NO machine shop, and two garages...
YEEE HOOO!!
Hey, veteran-types... tell me what you think!!!

You're right- pretty amazing for a garage-bot... That extrusion sure works wonders, no?

Can i ask what your function will be this year- but again, a great-looking bot..

That bot looks pretty darn good! I'd say you accomplished quite a bit not using a machine shop.

Great Job,

Cory

Mmmm It looks great... All those Wint-O-Green Life Savers Yummmmmmm.... Oh yea the bot looks great to... j/k No really that is one of the best uses of extruded aluminium that I have seen to date.

Moshingkow 06-02-2003 21:52

Thats alot of life savers...

Nice bot

Dave 06-02-2003 22:18

Ah, Yes.... function...
Well.. it's too big to go under the bar... but strong enough to go THROUGH it... hee hee ;)
Add two four foot arms on either side of it with hooks on the end.... making a massive pusher... me (an ex-football lineman) couldn't push the robot around... those treads are super.
Yay robots!
n-e-thing else? (I'm the blonde guy with long hair)

Greg Perkins 07-02-2003 09:48

how does it do on the HDPE?
go to somewhere where there is a fresh coat of wax and then try pushing it around will see how bad treads are

BTW. Excellent looking bot tho
Bad

Hmm. I've just realized how very... erm, ghetto our robot is. But I hardly think much more can be expected... we've 10 students, one teacher, and one engineer. Oh, and a science lab serves as our makeshift shop. Oh, the ghetto-ness. That's Louisiana for you, I suppose. :D

Dave 13-02-2003 17:34

Ah... on HDPE (the same material that plastic cream cheese boxes are made out of) it does very well. The tread material is made out of the same conveyor material that factories which produce HDPE products use. YAY!

Oh, hey.. don't knock the ghetto-bots... our first year bot was made entirely out of wood... in someone's garage. The second robot was made at a machine shop by us... but still managed to look ghetto-fabulous... oh... and it never moved (!)

This robot was back to the garage... one quarter of a garage, actually... all we used on it are hacksaws, wrenches, chain breakers, and other stuff commonly found in every garage. Planning is the key to a successful robot.

Wow... that Cowboy movie is hilarious.

The robot looks great. What is its main function, attacking stacks? Pushing bins?
