Before you cry, look at our situation. Fairfax County schools are closed due to snow. That means no robot meeting tonight. That also means that because they have used up all of their designated snow days already, the holiday on Feb. 17th, the last day before shipping the robot, has now been taken away from the students, which means we lose our all day robot meeting. And they are already talking about more snow next week, so they might lose yet another day.

Sigh. So don't cry about your good weather!

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you are short-sighted or narrow-minded, I was more thinking of "look at the bright side of life" for you. Maybe it sounded a little grouchy because they only gave us liberal leave today and since I only live 5 minutes away from where I work, I knew they wouldn't believe me if I said I couldn't make it in ;)

Well, enjoy your sunny days, and keep your fingers crossed that Sunday/Monday's storm misses us.

You can enjoy your snow days! lol It was like 80 degrees in Redondo Beach on the weekend and on the lunch break for robotics we got to walk down to the beach! That is so cool in February cause there aren't very many people there because tourist season is over! So I LOVE CALIFORNIA!!!! But snow is cool too and it is good you got the day off. Back to school for me!

Ditto that, and I have the best of both worlds since the weather is really nice right now and I got to sleep in since I don't have classes today (or Monday). :) Ok, enough gloating...I do suffer during the week, I promise.

Bad weather sucks. It took me 25 minutes to get to school...and the school is only 7 miles away. There were dead cars all over the parking lot...so the few people with batteries and jumper-cables had about 2 cars to start (I had a battery and cables so I was stuck at school for a bit).

No big deal about missing robotics tonight...there's nothing for us kids to do :/

When we have no school we get extended meetings.

When the school is closed, then we can't get into the shop at the school to work.

The 17th was a holiday, but the school was open for us, but after x snow days, then they start having school on holidays to make up for it. The last day was always a major day, last year, I think I was there 9am to 3am-ish, with a hour or two elsewhere for food.

I hear you, but i'm kinda torn because we lost a meeting, and i had a AP qualifying exam to take...:confused:

I enjoyed my one snow day in 11 years last year, I'm never going to get one again, even though it's snowed abotu 1-2 inches every other day or so since Monday (and it's snowing again now. awesome stuff, snow....)

Just like those from CA and FL, we Minnesotans don't know the meaning of "Snow Day." The only differences between us are 70 degrees and a foot of snow (the windchill is -20 here right now). You New Englanders are such wimps! :D

This morning it snowed in Texas now that is somthing to see and I would not have ever seen it if I were not going to build a robot in the morning.

Here in Southwest Virginia, we have a "snow day" at least one day a week almost since build season. We have mandatory meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we haven't had a Thursday meeting in almost five weeks. Our school board has gotten a lot of flack because they didn't close schools early enough and there were a couple accidents involving school buses with kids in them, so they have been super cautious to close school. No school = no robotics. I am not complaining though, I don't even want to think of how behind on school work I would be if we didn't have those. Even so, I am ready for it to get warm again.

i'm glad somebody got out for snow...today (2/10) lincoln county high school was one of only 2 county schools in the ENTIRE STATE OF TENNESSEE who had to go to school today...can you say NO FAIR!!!!!!!

My team's coaches have deemed this comment "inappropriate" and not "gracious professionalism." This comment was intended solely for the purpose of humor. I apologize to anybody that was offended by it--I have submitted a request for its removal.

In addition I have disassociated myself from Team 6 here in the forums in a precautionary measure as I was informed "you're representing the entire team when you're posting messages... If you can't use gracious professionalism, don't post any more messages."

In an additional precautionary move, my signature has been replaced with a legal disclaimer as "an apology from [me] would be the least [they] expect."

Once again, I apologize to those I have offended. If any other offensive posts of mine are found, please let me know.

Just don't do it again ;). And think twice before you post. Don't worry about it anymore, as long as you are willing to apologize and learn from your mistake.

I think this winter in particular seems more brutal than usual, since for the past 2-3 years we've seen not much in the area of significant snow. I remember for the past 2 years, walking around my yard, which was clothed in nothing but dead grass all winter. This year I can't walk in my yard, since it's blanketed in a cumulative foot and a half of snow, since it snows again before the previous snow melts. It's differant to look outside and see white this year. *shrugs*
