Most Underrated Movie Ever

Ok, everyone is always like, "This is the best movie I have ever seen." Well, what about the movies that no one gives credit to? So, here, make you claims to the movie you think is so great, yet no one else ever says it.

Mine: it was close, but Clue narrowly edges out Kingpin and Fight Club (and maybe Cruel Intentions at the risk of sounding feminine) Clue was just a genius idea: make a comedy about a board game that was about murder! That and I love subtle humor.

"MRS. PEACOCK WAS A MAN!??!"

Cruel Intentions was definitely a good movie.

I think Moulin Rouge was definitely underrated! It's such a good movie! And Baz Luhrmann rocks! :)

How was Moulin Rouge an underrated movie? It won many an award, I think the same goes for CLUE, in a way. Lots of people are heavily into the movie, a very big cult following. I think it should be a movie that people saw, but, don't fully see the beauty in. Like, something that people saw and were content with, but that you think deserves a bit more credit.

Ergo, I would say...Titanic. :-)

Amen to that. (forfeiting his goth hood for a sec), Moulin Rouge was definately one of the best movies I've ever seen. But as for Baz's other films, Strictly Ballroom was rated apropriately. It sucked more than Spy Kids 2.

Mullet 08-02-2003 14:46

Kayla, I'm sorry, but any movie with the title of "highest grossing movie in the world." isn't underrated. And, Bingo, two points for the Strictly Ballroom reference.

KaylaButt 08-02-2003 14:49

Oh darn, how could I have failed to factor that in...silly me. Imagine my embarrassment and shame of doing the exact thing I had accused the two of you of doing, it's almost like I planned it and was using myself as an example of wrong doing.

Almost.

Clue and Cruel Intentions were both good movies. But there was a movie Freddie Prinze Jr. and Mathew Lillard did together a few years back called Wing Commander. I had never heard of it (other than the game) until I saw it in the store and picked it up. I watched it, and enjoyed it, making it towards the top of my list of underrated movies.

How about Starship Troopers? Okay, the movie practically mutilated the entire book (and IMO, the book was much better), but it was action packed. Although for those who liked the 40 year old political/sci-fi novel, the movie probably isn't for you.

Hmm... underated?
I would have to say everyone forgot about Unbreakable and its awesomeness pretty quickly (except the weaknesses were pretty lame--"You have the same achiles' heel as me! We can both drown!"
Super Mario Bros. I thought was actually pretty good.
And Mystery Men--a great mix of comedy and action.
For its time, though, the number one ever would have to be UHF.

underrated movies ummm

Weird Al - UHF
Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace--- Okay i know what you are saying terrible movie.... but it was destined to suck, it is the only movie that didnt require too much fighting, it was a setup movie, but EPII is awsome, and EPIII will rock in the great battle deparment

hmmm how about We Were Soldiers, the most awsomest movie ever
aww heck any Mel Gibson War movie was awsome

anyone who knows Kevin Smith's movies (the ones with Jay and Silent Bob) will understand why i think Clerks is incredibly underrated.

among enthusiasts of these movies, people generally think Clerks is the worst, however it's by far my favorite. sure, the acting in some parts isn't as good as Chasing Amy, and there aren't as many big stars as in Dogma, but the script is WAY better than any of the other movies.

Harrison 09-02-2003 00:39

Cruel Intentions was awesome :p

As for most under-rated: K-19 The Windowmaker. OMG, it is such an amazing movie.

Moulin Rouge is awful...

This is most underrated movie thread. Titanic belongs in the overrated thread. I was a big fan of the history of the Titanic and everything, but after seeing that movie I was so disgusted, I lost all respect for James Cameron and I haven't paid attention to any Titanic news since then.

Bingo. Thats it. My mom liked Clerks, and she doesnt like any of the movies I watch (BTW: I agree and Kevin Smith also agrees that Mall Rats was his worst movie..)

Just because they serve you, doesn't mean they like you... :D

No on seems to appreciate "Blade Runner" anymore - the religious symbolism, and mutliple layers of meaning seem to be lost on people these days.

Go buy a copy of Blade Runner, and be amazed.
