I'm looking forward to the first robot to catch air off that thing in auto mode :)

Gadget470 11-02-2003 06:53

I would be surprised at 'air' being 'caught' from that slope. I think they'll have a rough time getting on it. Especially if their chassis can't handle a 45º incline

DanLevin247 11-02-2003 08:18

I'd like to see a robot going 8fps+ hit that 45ºangle...who know what would happen. I'm still amazed that you guys made weight with that thing, 247 ended up being 18 pounds over, but we have a ton of places to drop the excess poundage from.

Matthew936 11-02-2003 10:23

WOW!!!

:ahh:
I am glad we don't have to play against you unless we make nats. My team would probably have just laughed at me if i suggested that such a thing can be built. but I still wonder if it really can work as well as you say, it is just to much to believe. Maybe I should get the programmers to add an auto mode that involves going straight backwards just so we can stop you ;)

Where is the light going to be mounted so it is right side up at all times

And where the heck is the video, We want video :)

And if a robot was geared to go around 18fps, could handle the angle, weighed 125lbs, and hit you straight on, how far would it fly and how high? (wondering if ours could survive the fall)
Would figure it out myself but don't know what surface material you used, and the dimensions of your ramp

No robot will go 18fps without a multi motor three speed shift on the fly drivetrain.

WernerNYK 11-02-2003 12:55

if we really wanted to, we could manufacture our CVTs to go 18 fps ;-)

But then again, why would we want to?

Greg Perkins 11-02-2003 13:56

i seriously doubt you guys can do that in 2 seconds

but i do commend you

Team 60 did it last year with a 2 Speed shift on the fly drivetrain.

BOMBer84 12-02-2003 00:32

I agree with a couple people above. A: I don't think you can do that in two seconds. and B: If I were to play against you I'd be ramming you at the start of the match if we weren't quicker then you to the top already. But I'm not saying that you guys couldn't do that in two seconds I just don't think it's realistic. I would, however, love to see some video. You guys have done a truly unique thing, and there's no arguing with that.

How much does it weigh?

What are you using to lift it initially?

What else can it do?

Our Robot

Thanks for the Praise everbody but we tried, and the pistons we orderd are NOT strong enough to flip the machine over the wall. so were going for a more conservitve method of deploying. But we will still have a machine wich can control the bridge Pluss! I think we made it look prety, bad A$$!

we had a possible available output of our template drive train at 25 ft/sec. we kind of burnt the carpet in one of our school hallways stopping.

f22flyboy 12-02-2003 22:44

We haven't clocked our bot, but we have already gotten air off the ramp flat out in 1st. Our bot is pretty light, but it is definitely possible

DanLevin247 12-02-2003 22:59

Just a thought, say you are in the A position and your alliance partner is obviously in the B position...during autonomous mode, you let your amazing bot do what it's designed to do, and end up blocking the ramp, does this make your alliance partner either
a. be able to beat you to the ramp itself, get into "king of the hill position"
b. go under the bar, around the ramp ( going up the side you are not currently blocking ) to get into "king of the hill position"?

I mean, amazing bot, I'd be frightened to be against you and a bot that could go under the bar...it would be a great match.

As for 247's capabilites, just wait and see!

Jay5780 12-02-2003 23:06

:ahh:

that's my first impression

Good bot to team with you would be a limbo bot or someone who can go over you.
