How many Females do you have on your team?
Just wondering...
|
We have a bunch. There's only 2 or 3 on the build team, though...and only one real dedicated builder *cough*weedie*cough* Then we have maybe 6 in the business part of it...one or two who show up at everything. (Although they all just come to hit on me...I mean, what other reason is there for girls to be on a robotics team...and come on! Just look at me! Whew :))
|
Many....
Two female co captains one go to girl two other go to girls and this new girl that got the motivation and exicitement to ry it all oh yeah our team couch is female too as for the guys we sit back and watch them work lol and make sure no one screw up anything to baddly... :yikes: -Oscar- |
Girls not always a blessing??
lol we have about three and a half and they dont do JACK!!!!! :-(
Seriosuly, they are rocking awesome people but we dont see much of them around the builds... in fact i havent seen ANY of them for about two weeks... hmm..... tenemos una problema... |
about 6-8 girls
yep, we do stuff...
i'm not sure what 'stuff' is, but i assure you, it is being done... ;) :p who exactly IS Jack  |
Yeah, we have two, but only one does stuff and she does more than some of the guys on the team.
|
Who exactly is Jack??
Jack would be anything that helps the team build the robot lol...
i admit that some sexually frustrated guy on our team named jack would be better... but alas it is not to be maybe i should make him up seriosuly... I have no doubt tht girls on other teams really kick it in gear (no pun intended), I'm still waitin to see it happen around here. Since im not in the class (but still on the team) and therefor dont exactly see them all the time, i have no way of... suggesting they participate? |
High School: Columbus School for Girls.
We've got 3 female mentors, 2 of which are leading component design teams. |
half of our team is girls well actually they just show up but there's only about 8 or 9 students who even do anything all together. There's about 1 mentor per student as well but our group is still quite small. We all multi-task quite often. Plus we have an engineering class to do all the boring work like building the ramp and stuff.

we've got girls. I think at least 5. One of them works on the weaponry team, but quite a few of them are talented artists. But it all works together pretty well. We couldn't do much without them!

Team 191, the X-Cats is almost 2/3 girls which is about 20 girls.

What would be more interesting is a ratio of guys to gals in FIRST total.
I don't know about the rest of you, but my team has maybe 25 active members total. 1-3 of them are girls. (I say 1-3 because some don't show up all the time) Assuming 3: Our team is 12% girls. Assume that is an average. 90 teams per division (roughly) * 4 divisions *20 people per team (average) = 7200 people *.12 = 863 girls in FIRST robotics =6336 guys in first robotics Gals, looks like you get the pick of the litter at Houston. P.S. I'll be there. :D |
We have 2 girls on our team (1011), and 3 female mentors. We work mostly on the animation, but we've also helped create the robot. There are only 13 people on our team, and five mentors. A lot of the parent volunteers are women, too.

not to generalize
but all the girls on our team seem to have no desire to do anything helpful whatsoever. my sucky little town where girls arent interested in anything cool. |
We have 8 girls. 14yo Marygrace took a summer welding class at jr college, the youngest student ever to take the class, and is our team's TIG welder teaching other members.
18yo Angela last year joined the program, worked at the machine shop on the robot, co-drove at all the competitions, and is captain this year. 18yo Becky's dad is our robotics' engineer this year, and she's been accepted into a college with all her favorite things - robotics, engineering, theatre and photography. Breanne is involved in a multitude of activities - city council, ROTC color guard award winner... and robotics where she's an awesome artist. Wait till you see our crate. Chelsea is new to our program and amazed me with her easy learning and familiarity with the machines. Michelle's school is our neighbor and didn't support their getting a robotics' team off the ground, so she's at our place whenever she can participating in all arenas. Tiffany's strength is exhibitions, public relations. |
