Nothing. Trust me. We can take you to Chicago... and that's about it. Unless you'd like to experience the horrors written about here...

He lies! ;)

Considering that we currently have no regionals in our great state, IRI's the best thing to come along in Indiana since...
since...
well, in a long time.

Hehe... figures... when M. is asked about "what's in the midwest" we get a list of amusement parks.

Erin Rapacki 19-06-2003 00:00

On that note... I DO have a six flags season pass;

who wants to ride some local roller coasters in the middle of the night!

Great America is furthest away from IRI. . .probably 4 or 5 hours. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville lies to the south, maybe a bit closer, but not much. It's a far lesser park.

If you're ever interested in a visit to Six Flags New England or the Great Escape, I can manage that pretty easily. . .

Great Escape is 20 min from my house... 2 min from my old office.
Heh... there's nothing there worth traveling for. Except maybe the Comet.

Erin Rapacki 19-06-2003 07:51

I live 15 minutes away from Six Flags New England... I almost got a job there as a lifeguard this summer :(

... but another job opportunity came through :D

OK... I gotta weigh in on this. Consider me your friendly neighborhood Hoosier Hospitality ambassador. I do think that I am qualified, since I grew up in Monticello on a hog farm.

I've lived in this silly state all of my life. When I went to college, I tried to get as far away from home as I could afford, so I ended up at the University of Evansville . Speaking of colleges, there are some great ones in Indiana. Indiana University is an excellent school for many majors, and Purdue Universtiy is excellent for engineering, aviation, vet and agriculture to name a few majors. Rose Hulman is another great engineering school while Butler University is also top notch. So, if you want to take some time visiting college campuses while you are here, these are some to check out.

Indianapolis is a fun city, with a racetrack, you may have heard if it: Indianapolis Motor Speedway . The IMS museum is definitely worth the trip to the west side of Indy, even if you are not a race fan. There is a world class Children's Museum on the near north side of the city that will even be intersting to teenagers. This place is especially good for your FIRST mentors who may be bringing your little kids into Indy for the IRI.

Circle Center is a big, fancy shopping mall that is located in downtown Indy. It is new and neat. There is an IMAX, American Indian Museum, and the NCAA headquarters on the near west side of downtown also. These and other attractions can be seen here: Indy Attractions.

Also, there is the Indianapolis Zoo, which is a very good zoo. Don't forget that Indy has a great AAA baseball team, with a really neat stadium, seen here: Indianapolis Indians.

For nightlife, Indiana bars do not let people under 21 into the door. But there are other options, Block Party is kinda fun if you are into VR and video games, while there is a Jillian's in Downtown Indy, along with a slew of other restaurants.

Then again, if you are feeling really ambitious, you could come to Kokomo, see some attractions, and you surely would want to see Old Ben.

Whew... some of you other Hoosiers may want to chime in here. As for you visitors... if you clicked on all of these links, then you may just be crazy enough to enjoy it here.

Take care,
Andy B.

Yeah if you come to Kokomo, stop by and visit the infamous Baker family residence and the Gilbert residence. Plus when you stop by bring a few rolls of toliet paper to let them know you were there ;)
