so have fun and take breaks if you can
Ehh trust me I could probably write a lot about robotics and how fun it is. Of course it may not be fit to be published. Everything from my advisor that likes to make robotic sound effects to my friends who let the robot roll off the table last year. Then again I am probably the only person who has actually gotten sick over robotics. That is dedication mauahhaha.:)

I drive 80 miles almost everyday because I couldn't afford to be on my old team. I almost never see my girlfriend, my family, or other friends from home because I wake up at 6am, go to school, go to FIRST, and come up at 10:30pm

I'll sleep next week, I'm having fun now.

FIRST - 'The Experience'.... well.. to me it is priceless... we should get it into one of those Discover card comercials. All that I have learned from the prgram, all the program has taught me, and every aspect of 'competition'... is great.

However, this year... politics... and other not so fun stuff has entered the realm... FIRST and Robotics will always be the joy and greatness in my life. This year hasn't been as fun, and I am really worried. The students haven't seen a great deal of the robot work yet, due to most of it being done at machine shops and/or being 'fancy' welded. Hopefully during this last weekend, we can grasp more of the actual fabrication of the machine.

Other than that.... I shall be greatly prepared for the 'real world'. I have done many amazing things through my life, and especially on stage, however, I have never experinced the level of stress and nervousness before until I became a driver. I am truly prepared for an Executive job!

I'm getting a huge blast. Each of my four (4) years of FIRST has gotten better and better each year. I have learned so much from my engineers also. Sure, I'm almost definite they wanted to punch me in the face a few times earlier in the years, but hey, that's life! When I leave for college, I hopefully will be apart of another team, if I don't start one! I couldn't imagine going through out live w/o FIRST in it now. It has definitely changed me as a whole. I will continue helping all kids to know what FIRST is and how much good it does for the community, adults, and most of all - the Kids.

P.S. I have noticed that some kids are miserable. You gotta tell your mentors that. They may get mad, but if they truly value FIRST's true goal, they will realize what they where doing wrong and try to help out. If they leave b/c of what ever reason, than FIRST is better off w/o them. BTW - You can't please everyone, so take my words in stride. No one will like the way other people do things 100% of the time...

Dave from LEGO league (;))...although I've just joined, I've found it a very great learning experience. I've learned more about the workings of a robot through FIRST, than I would've through reading any book. It's also great when you know you've accomplished something, even if it's minor. You can proudly say, "Woo hoo! I've done something!"

The robot ships Tuesday.
Everything is finished except the transmissions.

The tranny's wont work.

I am NOT having fun...

I have this super bad feeling that we might not even see a moving truck come near our house until sometime next robotics season.

It really disturbs me we own a house I haven't even seen yet! o_O

this is my first year involved with FIRST and there hasn't been a time where i didn't love every minute of the experience also the team i am on (MOE) has been an incredible learning experience for me, and will be something i will remember for a long time.

We're struggling to finish the animation.
One of my animation jids has been dismissed.
And I'm looking at a whole weekends worth of all nighters and we still might not make it.
All the same; there's no place I'd rather be.

To Jeff on the FEDS...

Hang in there Jeff. They can only bug you if you let them. Remember what a really great team you have. Good luck, and see you at GLR.

I am a freshman on my team, and so far i am having a blast. The 6 week build period has been the most strenuous 6 weeks of my life, however, it has also been the most fun. I can't wait until competitions...

Raven_Writer 15-02-2003 22:18

First half of the year I was a programmer, now I got switched to a webmaster, and I dunno how that even hapeened.

tatsak42 15-02-2003 22:24

Robotics still rocks, but the people are getting v. v. irritating. Partially because I'm tired and somewhat easier to annoy. But at the same time, they're tired too and getting to be bi***y. It's still fun to do stuff, but some people really make me want to leave... and so I did for 2 hours.
