isn't that the truth? i've gone through some of those things.....and it's ashame that the late night are over, so now we just go home and sit and do nothing.......whereas 2-3 weeks ago we were at school until 11 or 12 o'clock at night...and that was amazing.....i can't wait until next year....and until IRI.....now that's going to be fun..... :(

Ohhhh man... Safety Glasses. I "personalized" my safey glasses at Pittsburgh with a ton of frilly ribbon. You could ask anyone from that regional and I think they will remember them. Everyone should personalize their glasses, but er....at your own risk. ^_^ I had my picture taken lots of times by people I had never met before in muh life. :o

you decide to go to a local regional right after work and got lost in the process but was determined to get there reguardless of how much gas was in the tank.

This was a true incident Short and Simple Version.
I work in the BX (NY) decided to go to the NJ Regional The trip itself was pre determined to be max 1 1/2 hrs and I had a lil over 1/2 a tank of gas. What had happened was i wasn't paying ENOUGH attention to the exits and ended up in PA, so instead of the trip only being 1 1/2 hrs it ended up to be 4 hrs and I ended up in having a lil over 1/4 tank left and to add to that instead of fueling up in NJ where gas is cheaper I almost ran out of gas 2 blocks away from my house which only took me about an 1 hr to get to since I live in SI (NY) What I do for FIRST =)

Road Trip to LSR '06

- two of the cars can't make the trip at the last minute and we say, 'oh - no biggie - we'll find the room and the seat belts,' while team members wander among the cars.

- one of the cars' battery won't start and the rest of the caravan has left the school parking lot. We get the call and say, 'oh - no biggie - glad it happened now,' and we circle back to jump the battery.

- we get a serious flat tire with a fully loaded trailer during a lunch stop on the way to Houston and say, 'oh - no biggie - I'm glad it happened now rather than later -'

- we get to Houston and there is a room mix-up with our hotel and we say, 'oh - no biggie - it's nice outside, overcast, not raining just rumbling, it'll work out.'

when you look at the time and the first thing you think of is a FIRST team and their robot... happened to me 2 min ago at 11:14 then my mind blanked and could only think of a team who could get 34+ points in autonomous (assuming the 10 point bonus)

-you become emotionally attached to a piece of machinery
-you forget where your house is because it's three in the morning on Monday and you haven't seen it since Friday morning
-you spend most of your waking (and some of your sleeping) time in the machine shop

you're not even technically a part of the team but you keep coming on here seeing what's happening

you can relate everything to something with FIRST: on-field, off-field, competition, the trip to competitions.

1. Your family buys a new car with good fuel milaege, and since the robotics team you're on is 45 minutes away, you immediatly christen it "The RoboticsMobile".
2. Since you had Taco bell so often during build season, the whole rest of the year its "robotics food".
3. The day when the mentors are showing the new members around the machine shop you (a) Remember just how much you like the smell of grease and metal shavings and (b) shout to the mentor talking about lathes: And NEVER leave the key in the chuck! :yikes:

When you start arguements between you and another FIRST addict over who has better teams on their licence plates.
