Winning this years game!

Team #64, the Gila Monsters, would like to thank all 13 teams who made our 6th annual pre-shipping Open House such a great success. It was simply an outstanding day.

After watching this years scrimmages it became very clear, that to win this years game you must be :
1. As fast as lightening
2. As agile as a ballet dancer
3. As strong as a battleship

If your robot isn't all three of these, you have less than 3 days to redesign and rebuild your robot.

Thanks again to all the Phoenix area teams for a great day!

How many broken bins?

Sounds like Sparky 4. Any video of what to expect?

Seveal.

Lots of flying tops (we didn't fasten them
)

Noise level very high as the bins went flying.

I was suprised how many bins stayed on the ramp clogging up the movement of robots.

"Robot that knocks down the wall first....wins!" several people.

Suprised at the carnage on the robots. Protect your insides. Lots of arms piercing robots. Lots of arms being knocked off.

Will look into video.

PS Our Graduate kids who attend U of A and started a club in Tucson, built a neat little robot. Congrats kids.

Got an average broken bins per match figure?

How fast is fast? How fast were teams making it to the stack?

Hi Shawn,

How was Chatsworth?

We stayed out of the scrimmages because our shields were not in place and it was getting down right messy out on the field.

Fast is hard to describe. In Auto mode none of the robots did very well. Programing needed work.

I would guess in the driver mode, most of the robots could climb the ram in 5 to 7 seconds after auto was shut off.

This year we are once again fast, but we think we also solved our torque problems from last year with our automatic transmission.

Looking forward to seeing you folks in month in Phoenix.

Rob36,

On Friday 2/14/03 we weighed 87 lbs. with the battery. You can bet your KK donuts, we are putting armour plating on our bot.

Not true at all! Rage and Team Paragon will attest to that immediately!

Good Luck,

I've heard many people are beefing up their robot. I wonder how many 'tanks' we'll be seeing on the field, hope our robot doesnt get crushed:yikes:

At the SCRRF Preseason Scrimmage in Chatsworth, the robots that won were similar to the ones Ken described in AZ. The teams that won the event in CA were so strong and fast, they looked like they could have competed in Battlebots. There was a large amount of vigerous interaction and therefore there were several heavily damaged robots by the end of the day.

True not always will the person who knocks them down first will win but most of the time that is the way it works especially since stacker bots dont work too well.

MBurr-Mecum 22-02-2003 18:56

Stacking robots weren't doing much at the scrimmage, true. I think that once the teams that have stacking mechanisms make them more efficient they will be quite valuable. At least, I hope so.
