Wow, now THAT is a great idea come true.....

The question is, will it turn?

Andy A. 16-02-2003 21:50

Wow, that is some serious trackage.

Plan on holding the hill, eh?

How much do those suckers weigh and what type of chain is that!!!! Looks pretty heavy gauge (if thats the right word) to me!!

Coach C 16-02-2003 22:56

Those treads go through the mesh...they would be illegal to use on the ramp.

Have you tested it?

Oh boy... I feel very very sorry for the poor sap that had to cut that belting. That must of taken hours.

A member of my team and I are having a disagreement. What type of belting is that?

It looks like the same tread that we (258) are using, this year, though I could be wrong.

To answer your questions....most of them

The track is made of #40 chain and the poor saps that had to cut the 180 pieces of tread as well as the 180 pieces of AL for each of the pads were myself and one other team member. The tread is 4 inches wide and it took was two 12 hour days to create our masterpiece. The belting we used is -- 60155K111 Wedge Top SBR Incline Conveyor Belting 3ply, .313" thick, 135# Piw tension, 4" wide -- from McMaster-Carr but I am not 100% sure. The going weight for one of the tracks is about 2.5lbs. Any more questions or did I forgot a question? Since everyone seems interested I have another pic I will post for your viewing pleasure.
