What are you going to do with your two extra days
We are going to redesign the entire robot drivetrain up.
|
hmm...i'd say were going to do the work we can';t do today, and 2 other days that we missed because of snow and our school closing
|
autonomus code!!! need I say more?

Heh our school hd one custodian here, and he just left, we've been here 24 hours now, thankfully our school doesn't have much to do with us so they let us stay here, well not so much they let us... they just don't reallly know......
SNOW IS FUN!!! So with our two extra days we're going to get the tweak the programming!! and oh yeah finish the robot hehe maybe even get some practice time! Unfortunatly the time I had planned for other things... but the snow probablystopped those plans anyway Yay for snow!!! :] |
2 Extra Days?
Is there something I haven't seen yet about this?
|

Extended build time. Doing what we havn't done yet. Wetzel ~~~~~~~~~~ 20ish inches of snow is fun |
Test & Adjust for our features. Needless to say, we will have fun playing around on the ramp for the next 2 days.
|
Do you work at school? Our principle won't let us go in to work if the school is closed, and we are panicking trying to find somewhere else to finish our crate (and robot) :ahh:
|
FIRST of all, let me say that this is MONUMENTAL! I thank FIRST for making this wise desicion to counter-act mother nature.

WAHOO 2 extra days! now we may actually finish it before ship..lol and maybe even a day of drive practice :p
|
Thank God for snow!
:) I am so glad we have an extension, because last night we still thought we needed to make a crate and finish our scissor jack in a day.:ahh: talk about a lucky break. Our only problem is getting out of the HS because the drifts are building up. We've been using tape every hour to measure the snow and right now there is a 34 inch drift out side our door (and we needed that door because its the only one not on the alarm)!:ahh:

finish automomus mode programs that were good but still need a lot of work to be great like we hope
|
At least you can drive :(
The snow's so high here you couldn't even drive if you had a monster 4WD truck... |
This is a perfect example that FIRST IS willing to listen to teams. I hope all of you remember this when time comes when you have doubts about FIRST's ability to listen to team's situation and making important changes for the teams.
|
Dig out our cars. They're unrecognizeable white lumps under that huge pile of snow and ice, so first we'll have to figure out which ones are ours.
We might not be able to get into the school until at least Thursday. Our robot is being worked on by a bunch of students in Dave Lavery's garage, but our crate is still stuck in our school shop. |
Any chance that generosity extends to the animation?:(
|
Awesome. We can finish assembling our transmission (and test it! What a novel idea! ;)), tweak our programming and clean up some of our wiring. Oh! We can mkae our side panels look pretty too! :D

We can finish. Thankfully.
Not today, though. The four foot tall snow drifts against my car make that impossible. The lack of plowed roads make it dangerous. |
This is awsome...we had school off last tuesday for a teacher professional day so we had all day to work...
Then, as other teams from indiana can attest to, on friday we HAD AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ICE STORM THAT SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE STATE AND EVERYTHING WAS BAD...erm atleast thats what they predicted so they freaked and canceled school....well no ice storm and we all went in and worked anyways.... now we get 2 extra days!!! THANKS MOTHER NATURE!!! i can forsee our team working on our drive train and giving our drivers tons of time to practice while our programmers write lots of autonomous code! |
2 more days?! I'm not sure to celebrate or to cry.
And I thought I would have a life tomorrow... |
life
I know what you mean.. I was sort of hoping I'd be able to maybe, you know, sit down, relax, watch some TV, instead of pulling yet another 12 hour day (well, two more, I guess) on the bot...
But we're now doing some stuff to make the robot a little more pretty, and we discovered this morning that one of our speed controllers has suffered an early death, so we swapped that out too. Also have time to actually practice driving the thing.. and playing with "turbo" mode. :yikes: |
HEHEHe
Since we just packed it up this afternoon we will probably just leave it in the box.... We have had just about 2 weeks of practice.
If the truck can't make it tomarrow it will probably be a sitting duck until it can make it.... |
We weighed our robot in around midnight last night, and we are about 9 lbs over weight. The only thing that we can do is actually eliminate a feature since the features need to be durable. We had to ditch the variable speed drive. So..... with our extra work time, we are working on getting our 'accessory' item functioning, and working on our drive system.
... bahh, we've been here since Friday. Haven't left, and no school officials have really said anything. The State of Emergency will probably close school tomorrow, and probably closure or delay on Wed. The State of Emergency doesn't scare us... our engineers have been going in and out all day..... no worries. :) |
2 extra days
*yawn* as I posted in the other thread about the shipping extension, we're probably going to be finished today anyways, so maybe play with it a bit, and pack it up and have it ready to ship on Wednesday. Our poor head mentor, Mr. Stokely, has a cracked tooth, and has been putting off going to the dentist to get it fixed for about 2 weeks now, so he nearly cried when we told him that there were 2 extra days to work, because he's been looking forward to being pain-free for about 2 weeks now. Poor Stokely!
:( Anyways, 2 days? Meh. I just want one thing now: SLEEP! too many 2 AM 17-hour work days for my liking. Besides, I was looking forward to having the robot gone on Tuesday (I've been trying to re-plan Valentines dinner with a guy friend of mine, who is also in robotics, for a while, and I'm hoping we don't have to re-schedule, again) And I extend my sympathies to all those who are trapped in school or their workspaces. I'm going nuts here as is, and I'm not even trapped! (well, sympathies also to those stuck OUTSIDE their workspaces) |
Yoou all can thank the east for this one...
time to go shovel... Bad |
We would love to keep driving and tweaking our robot, but one of our teachers insisted that we pack the crate today and ship it tomorrow. So, our 2 days are wasted. Anyone else want them?
|
So let me get this straight there are a bunch of teams stuck at school.
If your school i anything like mine (which it probably is) you have no showers. thats going to start smelling soon. Have fun |
RoboCards is gonna do more drive try-outs I'd reckon. Last time was sweet. To bad we have school here in mich.
|
Far south as we are, we're going to do all those things that weren't really essential to having a functional robot, but will be nice to have at competition.
... Oh, and order another drill motor transmission so that we have two that work reliably. That will be nice. ;) |

We're going to debug some *slight* issues (i.e., we're going to make it fit within regulation size). And maybe practice with the thing.
|
Oh, I dunno, I was thinking of doing a little sunbathing in the fine Florida weather (and you all complained about the heat at Disney). Actually we are working non-stop to finsih our bin mechanism and work out some unexpected last minute problems. The extended time is really a blessing, although I feel bad for all the teams who can't get to their robot through all the snow.
|
I LOVE SNOW!!!!!:p
|
Well it is the day before the original shipping day and our robot does not even run yet. We have been here since Friday, working and sleeping in a wood shop. So i guess for the next two days we will be doing the exact same thing in order to finish our robot on time. We are also hoping that the parts we ordered last night come in on time on account of the snow and all. Thank you FIRST!!
