Baker Baby Pool

OK, It's time for some fun.

As I've mentioned before, my lovely wife is due with our third child on July 9th.

It was suggested that I have a "baby pool". No not one of those plastic things that you fill up with water... it's one of those things where people guess when the kid is born (thanks, Christina_271 for the idea!)

To be in on this baby pool, you don't have to do much. Just post a reply below with your guess on these specifics:

1. Sex of baby (we are waiting to know)
2. Date of birth
3. Time of birth
4. Weight of baby

The winner must have the sex right, then 2, 3, and 4 are tie breakers.

So, fire away. Post your replies so that you can stake your claim. Your guess has to be different than everyone else's.

I'll even give out a prize. We've got many t-shirts sitting around the TechnoKats' Shop. You get your choice in size of a TechnoKats t-shirt. Once you win, you'll have to send me your mailing address and size requested, and a t-shirt is yours.

I'll give you a head start: my wife has been full term with both daughters so far.

Good luck,
Andy B.

;)

David Kelly 14-06-2001 18:39

Here's my choice

1. I'd say it's going to be a boy this time.
2. Date of birth: 7-11-01
3. Time of birth: 2:34pm
4: Weight of baby: 7lbs 3oz

That TechnoKat T-Shirt would sure look good on me:cool:

Good Luck!

Libby Ritchie 14-06-2001 18:47

Here we go.... I say that your wife is going to have another girl. She will be born on July 8th and will weigh 6 lbs. 5 oz. Tiime of birth will be 5:39 a.m.

Good luck, Baker family, from team 393!

:p

Clark Gilbert 14-06-2001 18:48

Lets give this a try....

1. boy
2. 7-8-01
3. 4:45 pm
4. 6 lbs 4 oz

I WANT ANOTHER T-SHIRT! LOL :D

Molly Menges 14-06-2001 18:54

my bet is...

1. another girl (cause they're the best!) ;)
2. 7-9-01
3. 5:02 pm
4. 6lbs 15 oz.

I WANT TO BEAT CLARK!!!!:D

That doesnt matter, Baker...all 3 births are independent of eachother...same goes for the gender of the baby....unless youve been using that new filtering technology ;)

1. boy
2. 7-13-01
3. 9:23 pm
4. 9 lbs. 2oz

By the way...that 13th IS a Friday...I actually know someone who was born on Fri the 13th under a full moon (his names Dan, but we call him Skitz)...and as freaky as that sounds, hes actually an awesome guy...

Plus, people, if shes going full term with these babies, more likely than not they'll be heavier than youre predicting.

Frank Toussaint 14-06-2001 19:28

The youngest TechnoKat will be a Boy, born on 7/7/01, at 1:11 A.M., weighing 7 lb, 11 oz.

Tom Schindler 14-06-2001 20:06

1. Girl
2. 7-12-01
3. 2:33 PM (the time i was born :) )
4. 7 lbs. 2 oz

Good Luck Andy!!

Andy A. 14-06-2001 20:40

I'm going with some warped pychohistory thing here:

1. Girl, estimates say they account for about 52% of the worlds population. Although there is really a 50:50 chance, I'm going for girl here. I have faith in the numbers
2. I also have faith in the doctors, June 9th
3. Time is tricky, say 11:30 pm
4. Given that she will be full term, I'm going in the 8 lb range. Maybe a little less.

Congrats man, hope shes healthy (and it will be a she).
Any names? I'm not going to begain to guess how many time's you've heard that one by now...

-Andy

Justin Ridley 14-06-2001 20:51

Re: Baker Baby Pool

1. boy
2. July 11th
3. 2:21 pm (gotta love the number)
4. 8lb 6oz.

Congrats Andy.

Bouncing baby Baker

Girl
7 - 04 - 01
04:50 am
7Lb 8 oz.
extra tie break - Not sure how reasonable this is, but it was too much of a coincidence:

Length: 17.7", (roughly 45 cm)

Good Luck!

PJ,

Man, there is something wierd going on here. I wonder what coincidence will be next?

Andy

kevinw 15-06-2001 10:12

I'm guessing the newest addition to the Baker family will be a boy, arriving on July 6th at approximately 6:45 pm, weighing in at 6 pounds 8 ounces.

Mike Soukup 15-06-2001 10:21

Here's my guess. Unfortunately I couldn't get as many 111's in as I would have liked.

Girl
7/11/01
1:11 pm
8 lb 11.1 oz (unfortunately 11 lb 1 oz is too heavy, which btw is 177 oz)

Mike

Joel J 15-06-2001 12:22

...

Female
July 7, 2001
22 04:25
8 pounds, 7 ounces

Elgin Clock 15-06-2001 17:08

Andy JR
July 7, 2001
4:23
7lb14oz

Tim Baird 18-06-2001 12:35

Tim's guess...

Ah ha, it's baby guessing time. I usually lose at these, but, here goes nothing.

Gender: Boy (like I)
Date: 7-11-01 (figured that the baby would scare you for two days)
Time: 7:52 am (once again, like I)
Weight: Let's say a nice round figure of 8 lbs. 8 oz.

Extraneous Guess: The name will be Timothy Andrew Baker. That way, he retains the baker heritage, you get your name in there, and, the little tike can join the "tim" club.

Tim

Bill Gold 18-06-2001 14:54

1. Boy
2. 7/10/01
3. 2:58am
4. 7lb 1oz.

Congrats Andy.

Andy Baker 06-07-2001 11:17

Guessing closed

We're getting close, but the doc says that it's probably going to be delivered past the due date. So, all of your early date pickers are most likely out of luck.

I had one pick via email.
Kristen Kelso put in this guess:
Girl, July 9, 8:15pm, 7 lbs. even

We're getting too close, so no more guesses will be taken at this time. I'll let you all know how things went as soon as I can after the delivery... or I'll have Kyle, Clark or Molly post something for me.

Thanks for your support and prayers,

Andy B.

Mike Soukup 06-07-2001 14:02

Still in the running...

When I saw the new post I thought it was all over and I lost. But what you said is good news for us who picked late dates. I hope everything goes well.

Mike

Congrats to you and your wife Andy! Glad to hear that everything went well - perhaps we can convert little Lucy over to the RCU in a few years too and have a new pic for the front page of the site ;) I'm sure Jess and Kirsten will try!

Jessica Boucher 13-07-2001 20:49

For Lucy ;)

Thanks to the HistoryChannel.com, we now know that Lucy is destined to be a FIRST-er....in 1982 "Eye of the Tiger" was on the top of the charts ;)

Actually, no matter what, I know she'll be great!

(though it would be great if you recruited all your girls for the RCU ::winkwink::...but thats all in good time)

**This Day in History - July 12**

**1862 Medal of Honor created

President Abraham Lincoln signs into law a measure calling for the awarding of a U.S. Army Medal of Honor, in the name of Congress, "to such noncommissioned officers and privates as shall most distinguish themselves by their gallantry in action, and other soldier-like qualities during the present insurrection." The previous December, Lincoln had approved a provision creating a U.S. Navy Medal of Valor, which was the basis of the Army Medal of Honor created by Congress in July 1862. The first U.S. Army soldiers to receive what would become the nation's highest military honor were six members of a Union raiding party who in 1862 penetrated deep into Confederate territory to destroy bridges and railroad tracks between Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1863, the Medal of Honor was made a permanent military decoration available to all members, including commissioned officers, of the U.S. military. It is conferred upon those who have distinguished themselves in actual combat at risk of life beyond the call of duty. Since its creation, during the Civil War, almost 3,400 men and one woman have received the Medal of Honor for heroic actions in U.S. military conflict.

**1984 Ferraro named vice presidential candidate

Walter Mondale, the leading Democratic presidential candidate, announces that he has chosen Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate. Ferraro, a daughter of Italian immigrants, had previously gained notoriety as a vocal advocate of women's rights in Congress.

Four days after Ferraro was named vice presidential candidate, Governor Mario Cuomo of New York opened the Democratic National Convention in San Francisco with an impassioned retort to Republican President Ronald Reagan's contention that the United States was a "shining city on a hill." Citing widespread poverty and racial strife, Cuomo derided President Reagan as oblivious to the needs and problems of many of America's citizens. His enthusiastic keynote address inaugurated a convention that saw Ferraro become the first woman nominated by a major party for the vice presidency. However, Mondale, the former U.S. vice president under Jimmy Carter, proved a lackluster choice for the Democratic presidential nominee.

On November 6, President Reagan and Vice President George Bush defeated the Mondale-Ferraro ticket in the greatest Republican landslide in U.S. history. The Republicans carried every state but Minnesota--Mondale's home state.

Ferraro left Congress in 1985. In 1992 and 1998, she was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. During President Bill Clinton's administration, she was a permanent member on the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

Lucy Melissa Baker and mom are both home and relaxing after a very smooth delivery. All went very well. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. My wife is feeling very well, for a mother who just gave birth.

Tom Shindler is the winner (as Jess noted)! Tom, you need to send me an email with your shirt size and shipping address.

Thanks for all of you for "playing", with an extra thanks to Christina for the idea, and Clark for posting the results.

As for my daughter's future membership into RCU, we can only hope. Currently, my oldest daughter's dreams are to be on a robot team with her Daddy and play baseball for the Chicago Cubs... I told her to go for it.

ps... does anyone have a lullabye tape that recites trigonometric functions? :)

Sine, cosine, cosine, sine, three point one four one five nine!

-Ed "watches too many sitcoms" McDonnell

Carolyn Duncan 15-07-2001 22:37

Tune?

How can you sing a song without knowing the tune. The tune that seems to me to fit is the one from the song that goes "Signs, Signs, everywhere it's signs".
C~ya,
Carolyn who likes to listen to classic rock and oldies.

EddieMcD 16-07-2001 15:47

Actually, "Sine, cosine, cosine, sine, three point one four one five nine" fits perfectly into the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

Or how about Ace of Base (I Saw the Sign). :D

Sorry.

Carolyn Duncan 16-07-2001 22:39

I won't even add fuel to that fire.

I'm incognito, see my shades

EddieMcD 17-07-2001 13:01

Uh, The High Priest can still see you.

Carolyn Duncan 17-07-2001 14:04

not really!

What face am I making right now (as you read this)? You don't know do you? HAHA! I am the greatest!
C~ya,
Carolyn who would like everyone to know that at this point in time (always) we feel very regal

EddieMcD 17-07-2001 14:18

You are giving a look of triumph thinking you beat The High Priest.

Carolyn Duncan 17-07-2001 22:43

*moves pieces across the 64 squares*
*exclaims* CHECK MATE!
Does that make any sense?

EddieMcD 18-07-2001 11:11

Yep.

Apparently The High Priest was right. :)

Oh, and Carolyn: Have a nice day.

Carolyn Duncan 18-07-2001 14:58

Triumph! I don't like to lose.
