Have you seen the Inspection Checklist?
 

Have you seen the new inspection check list. The first line states that we must Team name and/or logo and Team number on 4 sides.


We went by the inspection checklist that was in the manual and it said 2 sides. We do not have places to put our numbers on the front and back of the robot and besides that it has been shipped.

Is there anyother team that is having this problem or am I reading the inspection checklist wrong?

Didn't plan for having the school/team name and/or logo on all four sides, as well... but we have room for the numbers. :p

maybe you should look at the inspection sheet they included.

The inspection checklist in the manual was a copy of last year's. Rule M7 has always said that team numbers must be displayed on all 4 sides. It is a very easy mistake to make. I'm sorry that it had to happen to you.

You have all day on thursday to put team numbers on. looking at this picture, it shouldn't be too hard to find a place to put them. just mount some more polycarb :) I'm sure there will be teams at your first event that would be willing to help you too.

jnadke, that comment was uncalled for, he did read the manual, as the inspection sheet is included in the manual.

We will find some places. It is just going to be tricky. By the way thanks for the encouragement. It was just a shock when I first read it. Maybe there are more teams that will read this and understand they too need more numbers on their robot. I know that most of the robots in our area only have them on 2 sides. Also most pictures I have been seeing only have them on 2 sides.

Something else you can do is just cut out some aluminum or lexan and spraypaint it and then zip tie it to the chassis sides.

I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. I apollogize if I came out sounding rude. Displaying bad feelings in return, however, is not the answer.


It was mentioned from day one that the inspection sheet meant nothing, and that it would change. The rules would be used in matters where inspection sheets were wrong. It was mentioned that the inspection sheets were pending, and can/will be changed.

hmm all these ideas sound good :)

i didn't mean my post that spiteful...more or less of a rebuttle. usually giving one a taste of their own medicine makes them realize its sting.

As Jnadke said, the inspection checklist has never been part of the official rules. If you take a look at the top, it clearly said "SAMPLE" in large, all-caps letters with a big attention-drawing box around them. Yes, they probably should have kept the year 2002 on it instead of saying 2003, but I suppose they thought that would have only confused things even more.

Anyways, I'm sure you guys can find a place to put your number as just about any (semi)flat surface will suffice. Just slap some 1/16" polycarb on the front and back (which you should probably do anyways to avoid damage) and everything should be OK.

Everysince i saw the arms that came out with their number on it i thought it was a bad idea...

Just think, when the arms are out, you will have 3 numbers on the front, and 1 number on the back...

Theres an easy fix for this problem. At a local craft store or somthing like that, you can buy sheets of this special sticky paper. It comes in basically any colo, and it is all metallic and shiny. Then, just cut #'s out and peel off the backing, and presto! instant team #'s. Just put a set of these under your arms so when they deploy, there are still #'s on the side.

We always use this paper, they sell it a one of the Ohio State bookstores, andit is definatly visible from a distance. It also reflects light like no ones business, so be careful in the sun :yikes:

Come on now. All they have to be is 4' high by 1' wide (each number). If your frame has a structual support that is 1" wide put and is high enough put it there. Or you can just print it black on white, laminate it, and tiewrap it on.

Try printing this at 400% it's current size

And here is a high one. Agian print at 400% and rotate 90 degrees after print (or before, it's your choice.)

If you look they aren't all that big when you blow them up and print them.
