FINE. I'll tell you how to do it. Now, the rules clearly say, 4 sides at 90 degree intervals. Granted that your robot has at least 6 sides and you've got numbers on two sides, then the rules has an easy loophole. Just put one number on the top of your robot and one at the bottom. They are seperated by 90 degrees, are on 4 seperate sides, and your ROBOT is still easily identified by the referee as they should be able to easily see the number on the sides/top. The bottom one just allows you to get around the rules. Or if you have space, put one on the back and use the one on top as the loophole. That's a better method.

After def 2, they don't relate to an object. But as you can see, the top is a side, and so is the bottom; side is just a surface. Don't they teach you this in your first geometry class?

If one were to take the rules completely literally, 'around the side' would mean we'd have to wrap the numbers around the side. But clearly that's not the case. Putting a number on top or bottom is still within the rules. The ref may yell at you but there's jack that he/she can do.

The bottom one will easily be seen if the robot flips over as did in the UTC match 8 video :) :) But the judges can't penalize you there. The numbers are visible from 100 feet away. Whether at all times is a different issue. Basically, for teams who can't get their numbers on all side, the top is a good side to use and the bottom is a last resort. I'm just trying to help those people who didn't read all the rules carefully.
