Final Fantasy anyone?

Like Final Fantasy? If so which is your fav? Reply and take the poll! My favorites are 7, 9, and Tactics, and I'm in the middle of ordering FF11 import.

Anyone like to draw FF fanart? Then you might like my art. Tell me about your art here. Or PM me.

Rob Colatutto 24-02-2003 00:58

ff7 and fft are the only really good ones, that and ff5. 8 was too pretty and had no gameplay, 9 was very....strange. but 7 and tactics were just amazing games

Jonathan M. 24-02-2003 01:04

That's true too. I disliked 8 and the only thing I liked about 10 was the very nice 3D work. Great surface modeling. I like the game play of 9 but the 'chibi' style is wasted on me. FF7 is my favorite though. and FFT was really good too.

AHH! Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 in US) is by far the best Final Fantasy out there, but you don't have it as an option. Well, good thing Squaresoft later releasted it for PS1, so people without super nintendo can play it too.

But other than 6 being my favorite, all the FF's are lots of fun. In Japan, when FFX came out, the whole economy practically stopped because everyone take a day off work to wait in line to buy it.

Jonathan M. 24-02-2003 01:11

Yeah 6 is great and I can't believe I forgot to add it when I have it in my stack of imported PS One FFs. (Not to mention I forgot Anthologies AND Cronichles.) Oh well.

I read about how every one took a day off work when FFX came out. It was like a national holliday LoL.

Rob Colatutto 24-02-2003 01:13

the japanese do get very into things like that, but i never found anything too good about ff6, girl main character just doesn't work, and they didn't have many fun skills. ff5 was pretty cool changing all the jobs and all. i never bought a ps2, only reason i have a ps1 was because i got it for $10 from my friend with ff7 and then fft cost me $5 from another friend who didnt want thier origonal unplayed copy in perfect condition :D

Jonathan M. 24-02-2003 01:19

Heh I only got my PsX (original PSOne big bulky and ugly :D ) because I saved up for two months with all my brothers help. But I got my Ps2 as a gift from my dad because I was 'so depressed' when we moved. LoL.

Looks like I got alot of good things out of the move. A school with a FIRST team and a Ps2. (Moved here start of Freshmen year last year. Last year was also Our rookie year. We were the RoboDawgs 845. LoL Now we're Cutting Edge)

But anyway I still have to Say FF7 was great. FF6 and 4 as well. 5 was nice but I really liked 4. (Might as well discuss all FFs now lol)

If you guys are into FF...

Hey, if you guys really like FF (evident by starting a thread about it..) and you enjoy creative writing, I have a buddy that runs a Creative Writing RPG (CWRPG) based on I think ff8... it's pretty neat, lots of fun and pretty creative. If you're into it, you can email me/IM me or just visit the site and check it out... Rival Schools

Enjoy..

Final Fantasy Forever! ^^

srjjs 24-02-2003 22:45

Final Fantasy Legend 3 is the only one I've seen for Gameboy, so I'll pick that one.

Pin Man 25-02-2003 21:30

Final Fantasy 7 has the best story-line.

Jonathan M. 25-02-2003 21:39

Noooooooooo. You DO NOT want any of the Final Fantasies for Game boy. They are terrible terrible terrible games. So just get the play station ones. If you dont have a PS then um dont get them at all. But what ever you do DO NOT get the FF for Gameboy...

Oh yeah and FF VII has a greeeaaat story line but I like others just as much (Tactics).

Anywho...

Josh Hambright 26-02-2003 11:23

ff1 nes style.

plz. k. thnx.

I've never like the traditional fantasy RPGs like FF. I've prefered platoformers, action games, and good FPS.

I would have to say its the opposite for me. I like the RpGs like FF. You get to strategize more instead of button mashing. Although I do love Marvel Vs Capcom II. But thats not an RpG so mwaha! Okay so anyway.. *walks off*

W007! I love that game!

FAKrogoth 26-02-2003 19:41

FF5. Definitely because of job classes. Strategy is one thing very much missing from most others, although 7 was pretty good about it.

Matthew936 07-03-2003 11:24

ok you ask for our favorites but only list the newer ones, that either means that you just recently started playing since ff7 came out, you are foolish enough to believe that graphics are what matter, or you like the fact that wow my character can hit 28 times for 9999 damage (7 and 8) which meant if you get a particular move you win, if you don't you will most likely not win. Personally I have beaten every Final Fantasy game out there (and not just the versions released in this country) personally I liked ff5 best with 6 (released as 3 for the super nintendo) being a close second.

only really bad ones were Mystic Quest (not even made by Square Soft), Adventure (gameboy), and last of all 8 (draw magic and equip it, who thought that one up)

but was not really impressed with any of the gameboy ones

Elgin Clock 07-03-2003 17:21

OK, I liked the Final Fantasy movie and to tell you the truth have not actually taken the time to really get into any background storyline for the games, but.... I hate the role playing games that are cheesey little people with a group following behind you and the characters are small people with big heads. They look like kids, I can't take an rpg seriously if the charcters remind me of little kids.

As for realistic rpg's try Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, or Medievil for some actual realistic character modeling. And (shockingly) true to life body and head size ratio. Well exept for Sir Daniel Fortesque in Medievil, when half a body is more like it.

Ash 09-03-2003 15:43

OK...

First of all, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, and Midievil are NOT RPGs; they are adventure games, or in the case of Silent Hill, horror/adventure games. There.

Now, as for the case of FF RPGs, I think FF6 is the best out of the bunch, with FFX being the worst (FF Mystic Quest is NOT really a game... its a lesson in what not to do in a game).

However, for the best RPG, I would have to say Xenogears. The wonderful plot, awesome character designs, level of difficulty, and overall time spent playing it places it at the top of my list.

There are so many things that I could say, but I would probably be banned for them. FIRST of all Tomb Raider is in NO WAY realistic nor for that matter is Silent Hill or Medievil. Tomb Raider's Laura croft has disproportionate breasts. And lets not forget, the plot is ALWAYS the same. I'm not even going to get into detail about it, or the other games you mentioned.

And another thing Final Fantasy's proportions aren't nearly as bad as you make them out to be. For instance FFX, the characters are almost real!

Ahem... Okay, well Graphics hog I am not. Believe me. FFVII's graphics pretty much suck 'cept for the cinemas. But anyway I am very partial to the older FFs especially 2 (4) and 6. But incase you havent noticed this thread was originally started to be based on the newer final fantasy's anyway. But it came down to all of them soon. Anyway, Final Fantasy games rule and I dont care what any one else says.

GG n00b... no FF3? What's up with that? FF3 > all.

Yeah, I know about the 'other' selection, but that doesn't give it any justice as the best FF out there.

And FF3 > FF6 :p.

Jonathan M. 09-03-2003 17:59

GG n00b? I'm sure you meant FF n00b, and the typo deamon is haunting you today. ANYWHO, FF3 is a great game but I don't like it as much as say 2(4)! And I am not a n00b I've played em all, and from experience I can say FF3 isn't the best. In my book anyway.

Anyone else here like Chrono Trigger?

GG = Good Game
Now look who's the n00b... :D

I check my posts before submission so there usually aren't many (or any) errors.

2 is pretty good, but the best story line/charaters are found in 3 (IMO). Celes > all. :)

Jonathan M. 11-03-2003 17:14

Favorite Rival/Enemies/'Bad Guys' (lol) in not particular order:
Reno, Sephiroth, Beatrix, Kefka- and more but I have to get off the computer now so I'll see you guys later.

LATER!

Dave_222 11-03-2003 19:37

ff1 and ff7 are pesonal fav's 7 takes the cake though. 10 could have been soo much cooler but it was a big let down in the end.

Oh too true, my friend, oh too true...

MFlores05 17-04-2003 15:50

I've played 4, 6, 7, and 10. 10's the best overall because it has a very cohesive storyline, CTB (which is much better than ATB), the Sphere Grid, and awesome graphics and music. However, I definately agree that the ending was a major letdown. Fortunately, there is X-2.

As for best antagonist: Sephiroth takes top honors, although Kefka comes close.
