Thats EXACTLY what I said: I'll get the footage just in time for the Annapolis regional my team is going to on Wendsday..

:D

kristen 24-02-2003 20:52

Will these be broadcast online?

YAY I'm going to be at the annapolis regional ;)

It would be cool if there was converage at the other regionals, though.

mtaman02 24-02-2003 20:54

hmmm. i notice the new york city regional and canadian regional is not listed. guess the parents of the team will have to take out their camcorders again this year

Clark Gilbert 24-02-2003 21:01

NO!!

NO!!! The St. Louis Regional isnt on the list!!

It's like 95% NASA teams...how can this be... :ahh:

Yan Wang 24-02-2003 21:01

Hmm... that's odd. I remembered that last year the Canadian regional was broadcast... otherwise, I don't see how my dad could've been watching it while I was at the regional.

David Kelly 24-02-2003 21:14

i assume/ HOPE they will also be webcasting the addictional NASA sites, such as VCU and St. Louis.... otherwise, it will be a very, very sad time :(

srawls 24-02-2003 21:19

A mentor on our team who works at NASA has been in charge of web-casting the VCU and Philidelphia regionals in past years, and just last year he helped with the St. Louis regional web-cast as well. I can only assume he's still doing it, but I will ask him if it helps to belay your fears.

The way it has worked in the past is that a few, usually, nationals and 1 or 2 other events were broadcast on nasa tv. this means that anyone with the nasa tv channel can watch it. It also means that you can get a webcast very easily. Team 188 keeps a very good list of places that webcast nasa tv. http://www.team188.com/2002/videos/nasatv.shtml All that this announcement is about is the NASA tv broadcasts, and it is much better then before. These are the much more expensive ones to do.

NASA has also webcast many other regionals. This was done seperately from the NASA tv (as far as I know). Information about those would be posted on robotics.nasa.gov. As of right now, nothing has been announced.

Remember that NASA, like everyone else, is having funding trouble. Don't be suprised if your favorite event is not webcast. But, don't give up hope yet, either.

EddieMcD 25-02-2003 16:26

Okay, so none of the local regionals are being shown. But like JR said, I'm not giving up hope yet. Actually, I'm glad I actually have the ability to watch other regionals at all with NASA TV.

Andy Grady 25-02-2003 16:50

Don't Lose Hope

Don't forget that in the past some regionals have been webcast by sponsors other than NASA. Like the NYC regional and UTC regionals. So there may still be hope.

The NYC regional was hosted last year by Columbia.

Since they are not doing it this year, that remains to be questioned.

I am also excepting a webcast of UTC, and also of the BAE NH regional.

Jim Giacchi 25-02-2003 18:55

I notice that they are only broadcasting one day from each regional. So what about the other days?

Mike371 25-02-2003 20:25

One thing I observed about the webcasts is that there is usually a large number of NASA teams at those regionals.

Don Knight 27-02-2003 08:45

NASA Webcasts - Link

It looks like NASA is going to be webcasting regionals too! Here is the current schedule and the link....
http://robotics.nasa.gov/events/webcasts/regionals.htm

NASA Langley/VCU Regional
Richmond, Virginia
March 6-8

Buckeye Regional
Cleveland, OH
March 6-8

More Regional information coming soon...!

miketwalker 28-02-2003 14:28

Why are there only 2 webcasts?! Last year they had almost every regional webcast. They don't even have the 4 fields at nationals being broadcast. We were hoping for these webcasts for the students in Engineering classes to be able to watch. Plus all the regionals are only broadcast on NASA TV on Saturday, and none on Friday so students can't watch in class and learn.

Jeff Waegelin 28-02-2003 14:32

Note that those are only the first week of regionals. It's highly likely there will be other webcasts in later weeks, but those two are just for the first week of competition.

Metalhugginman 02-03-2003 09:40

VCU Regional Webcast

I noticed that the NASA link lists the VCU webcast as being on March 7th and 8th. I trust that the webcast will be on Friday and Saturday. Hooray! Good luck to everyone!

Karthik 06-03-2003 09:26

For those of you interested in watching today's practice rounds from the VCU regional, here's a link that has not yet been posted.

http://robots.larc.nasa.gov/vcu_2003/webcast.html

As of this moment there are two feeds are up and running. Nothing exciting is happening yet, but I think the first practice rounds are slated to start at 10:30am.

Dan-o 06-03-2003 09:50

can't hardly wait

I can't wait until the Annapolis regional. This is my first year on MOE 365 and I can't wait until the regionals. It makes it even better that the event is webcast. It will be cool to see other teams and strategize, but it will also be really cool to have GeroniMOE webcast for all to see as it lifts up the ramp and carries it into our scoring zone, Would that score us points hehehe. Just kidding. Good luck to all of the teams competing today, tomorrow, and Saturday.

GO MOE!!

Swampdude 06-03-2003 14:41

Is anyone having trouble connecting to the webcast? my realplayer says it can't connect to host, I think it's our firewall here but.... ???

If you're behind a firewall or proxy server, make sure you have Real Player set up correctly. Go to the settings and add the proxy server to the proxy list. Be sure to use port 1090 for PNA and port 554 for RTSP.

sevisehda 06-03-2003 22:44

So are the only 2 webcasts up this weekend for VCU and buckeye? Does anyone have the links for the others?

Boilerman31 07-03-2003 11:12

Is it just me, or does the announcer from the VCU regional seem kinda arrogant? I think he's stopped just short of throwing out insults sometimes.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

DaveO'B365 12-03-2003 13:04

word to that

ya, it's great to be webcast, for the friends and fam, but when you're down there, that's the last thing on your mind, and yes it's exciting :p be sure to catch the annapolis regional, i'm sure it's gonna be interesting, a lotta good teams down there. (too much security, ugh)

Mythikal 12-03-2003 13:17

that surprises me that there was no webcast or any NASA coverage of the St. Louis regional... beings it's close to nasa, and most of the teams there (including us, 1104) were sponsored by them. i would've liked to save the broadcast of it, or let my family watch it, or something...

If you have NASA TV you can watch it there (when its on), or you can watch it via a live webcast.

Links to regional webcasts have been posted, and the site for the Nationals Webcast (courtesy of NASA) is:

http://robotics.nasa.gov/events/webcasts/nationals.htm

Happy Viewing!
