A lot of mentors and advisors get into this to get as involved as the kids... Just look at Andy Baker's picture with Tim Railey, the picture Ken Leung has up, etc. Different colored hair at competitions is a little more crazy and a little more fun.

Nope not at all, the rule was written specifically for competitions...
Like I said, it sucks! Unfortunately our team tries to run itself as a business and that is "not acceptable" for a business like environment... :(

1) take yer showers at night and then either blow-dry your hair or just let it air dry over-night. this way when you get up, you have that extra 15-30 minutes to do yer make-up.

2) before you go to bed, try to get at least a general idea of what you might wanna wear the next day. even if you change your mind in the morning, for some reason, it still takes less time than just tryin to decide right off the bat in the morning. again, this also leaves you more time for make-up.

3) do your hair up in a ponytail or braid or something. 'cuz first of all, it won't get caught in anything if you're workin in the pits. and second of all, hair up is less likely to get knotted up or messed up bad.

4) go easy on the make-up. just do cover-up, mascara, and lipgloss. if you wanna put on a bit of eyeshadow, go for it. but remember, guys are gonna be more worried about the bots than yer looks during the competitions (so save your great make-up for later) plus, the more make-up you put on, the more chance of getting it messed up there is.

oh yeah...and always, always remember to put on deoderant. Nobody wants to sit next to a deoderant-less person who's been sweatin all day.;)

The girls on my team don't have to worry about what were gonna wear cause it's planned out for us already.

Oh Yeah here's anohter tip. I've never been to a competiton before but I did this when I went on trips in Juinor High. Make a list of the things that your going to bring, so you won't froget them while you're packing. At least that's what I'm gonna do anyways.

A team trying to pass itself off as a business? I could see how a FIRST Robotics team could be a business trying to get money through sponsorship, and fundraising, but that is about it. It is not like your a company that builds or even sells robots for the rich and famous. I guess you need a more "business" like approach for convincing them about the hair color changing rule. Just say that it would be easier to appeal to your target audience (potential sponsors, students, and parents/mentors) by changing the color of your hair for competitions. Just imagine... teenage geeks with crazy hair color having the time of thier life at a robotics competition. Not only are they having fun, but they are learning in a safe, yet educational environment. This organization helps students take what they are learning from school, and apply it in a real world setting. So on and so forth. Also mention that coloring your hair will boost team spirit, and moral. This may help your team win a couple matches. I would keep on pursuing this, and discuss this further with your team's "big kahuna." After all, guys have to wake up really early before competition and comb there hair, in order to look dead sexy for competition. Coloring it, would instantly guarantee all robotic's chicks to hook up with you. And now, I think I'm pushing my luck. :p

As for beauty tips for girls from a guy's point of view...

Rumor has it that girls who dye there hair PINK will instantely look hotter. Period. Well that is my opinion anyways...

I dunno about pink hair, but, as I discovered this weekend, if you're going to use temporary green hair dye, don't wear a black tshirt... Oh, and don't fall asleep, that stuff is pretty manky on pillowcases.

The only other suggestion I can make (though I think this goes without saying) is keep clean. Feel free to wash your face if you have time to run to the bathroom. Also, those little grease papers are amazing. It may take a couple sheets to get off all the sweat, but you'll feel much better because of it. ...wow, I just sounded like such a bimbo...
