Pee Wee's Playhouse,
The Go Bots, Pound Puppies,
The Maxx- On mtv,
The MC Hammer cartoon with his talking magic shoes,
F-Troop, Lost in Space - the original show,
Kids Incorporated, Funhouse-Double Dare type kiddie game show,
You Can't do that on Television, Punky Brewster,
The Fall Guy

Ok I'm done for now. Those are just a few I used to watch regularly

edit: Ooh I got one more, "Romper Room"

Not as old, but certainly forgotten: Earthworm Jim! (He's such a groovy guy . . .)

Of similar age, slightly more longevity, but still forgotten twice: The Tick (Very awesome show, both times. Sad both shows were cancelled)

Also a good show, but I think it's still on occasionally: Rocko's Modern Life. ("What are you doing?" "Watching you sleep -- you're weird.")

From way back in my childhood, I remember Gummy Bears (they drank juice and bounced around), Maya the Bee (I hated that show, yet never quite realized I didn't have to watch . . .), Fat Albert, and that one on Nick with "Picture Pages."

Who could forget Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Bots Master?

And before my time: Mork and Mindy. I love Robin Williams acting.

Well, at least some of you have the idea. I beleive the word here is OBSCURE, thus my nominations: Samaurai Pizza Cats and Battletech.

Michael Murphy 05-03-2003 00:13

Samuri Pizza Cats-loved watching that before school.

...Transformers and their Hanna-Barbara copies the Go-Bots;

Dino-Riders, ExoSquad, both He-Man shows (the original and the one where he's in space) the Star Trek animated series

umm...VR Troopers, UltraMan with one of the Lawrence brothers (can't remember which)

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers Gummi Bears. I once spent a whole Sunday at work convincing people that it existed-ended up having to "sing" the theme song.

oh...Captain N, the two Star Wars cartoons with the Ewoks and the Droids...Stingray...Gargoyles

I think I am the only kid on Earth that watched Price Is Right regularly.

I can't believe that nobody listed She-Ra.

Every day at 11.

Take a TV break from 12->1. I think re-runs of Taxi were on..

1:00 pm : the A-Team

MacGuyver was on sometime in there too. I loved summer vacations and the quality daytime TV. :)

I remember when Morgan Freeman used to be on the Electric Company playing Easy Reader. Who knew he'd become an Oscar Caliber actor?

I think you're talking about the Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad. That show was crazy!

OH MAN! I can't believe I didn't mention SWAT Kats! Goodness what a cool show that was. They totally missed out on action figures with it. Bingo!

Brm789 05-03-2003 15:55

And Levar Burton of Star Trek Fame was on Reading Rainbow as a book dude as well!!

I thought of another one as well; Voltron!! Volton is exactly like power rangers but just animated. There wasn't enough budget or technology (ha) to make it real enough I guess!

Oh, and who can forget The Care Bears!! Yeah I had one.

And did anyone mention M.A.S.K. yet??

FAKrogoth 05-03-2003 21:57

Two comments on previously listed shows:
1. Reading Rainbow was a good show, until I entered second grade and they started showing it to us. After that, it was interminable until I was released to middle school. They just never covered any sci-fi. For that matter, they never showed any book with more than forty pages. I was reading those things to second graders when I was in kindergarten. When I was your age *goes off mumbling*

2. *returns to topic* Voltron was only like Power Rangers in that the 'bots linked up. There was much more plot to Voltron. I was a fan of PR, for about three months. I didn't have much patience for stupidity when I was eight.

As for a show that is like Power Rangers, I submit Thundercats. It had the same feel to it, similar characters, and similar roles. The only stylistic differences are in the relative ages of the heroes and Power Rangers' overuse of roboticitry. Oh, yeah, and Thundercats was actually watchable.

I would hope all of us 'roboteers' watched Inspector Gadget.

Bonus Question: Anybody know why I have the name Scruffy forever etched in my memory? I think it was a dog...
