St. Louis Regional 'Giveaways'
Personally, I have wracked my brain to think of great 'giveaways' for the St. Louis Regional this thursday, March 6th. I know a ton of rookie teams will be there (my team included) and I wanted to make a positive, fun impact on all the teams that are new to FIRST. A lot of rookies have really fun names, and I wondered how they were going to, how do you say it, advertise. :p
I know that Team #1020 will have specially made, limited edition Monkey Armbands, some mini CD's, and a couple of fun things to give away to all of the teams at St. Louis. What about *your* team? Let us all know what to expect and look for! |
As far as I know we'll be giving out buttons. That's about it. Even though it's the teams 9th year, a small budget dosn't allow for much else in the area of advertisements.
PS: What's on the mini CD's? |
Uh-uh. If you (or anyone not at the St. Louis regional, for that matter) want to get your hands on an official Prank Monkeys CD-R, you have to either a) come to the Team 1020 pit, introduce yourself, and ask nicely :D , or b) visit the team's website (http://www.team1020.org) and leave us a message.
I love being difficult. |
We were going to deliver coffee to every team on Thursday. Alas, the new event site rules prohibit this, so we abandoned the plan.
|
We are giving away yo-yos and tape measures, they look really neat.
|
Who wants a 'limited edition' Prank Monkey pin with our famous logo from http://www.team1020.org? :D

We have made a fancy laminated chart that will tell you tub scores quickly, NO math required!!!
Good luck in St. Louis, Team 967 "The Mean Machine" |
Our team will be "distributing" bandanas Via my launcher. I'm also including a sucker in each launch so their will be even more incentive to catch them.:D
|
A "launcher" is awsome but..... the arena staff is very um "lower anatomy" about everything. Cool though if you can use it!
|
while our team is not going to St. Louis, we are going to Hartford and Long Island, and I know we will be handing out customized dog tags, they're pretty nifty looking :)
|
Yeah, we're a rookie team as well, so we just have buttons. One team, however, gave out shop towels and a trash bag with their name and logo on it, another gave out a "pit kit" which had candy (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and some other stuff in it. Of course the only important thing was candy, so I can't remember the other things. Most teams there had buttons, which seem to be the cheapest and easiest to get.

Serious props to whoever gave out the pit kit for putting lots of peppermint patties in them. I love those things.
|
man thoes monkey buttons look pretty sharp too bad we arnt going to that regional
|
Gosh, i can't beleive no one mentioned the swords from 538. I was begged all the time for one, lol.
Who gave out the pasta saturday morning? |
I went home w/ 2 of those swords. Those were pretty cool but they kept breaking. I had a lot of fun w/ mine though.
|
yeah, they are cheap, but i guess that is why we have so many of them :)
|
Those swords were awesome! Cando Cub Robotics (Team #877) handed out the spaghetti on Saturday morning. It had a label that said good luck on it, and it must've somehow worked for them, because they made it to the finals! I love the Prank Monkey's pins. BTW, how'd you guys come up with a name like that?????????? Oh, and kudos for doin the chicken dance; the regional wasn't complete without it....... =)
|
we will probably have a lot of swords at nats :). Maybe some other things, not sure though.
|
We couldn't afford to be doing much...we handed out some stickers that were our equivalent of buttons (we didn't think of making them into buttons for this, maybe Nationals though...) Unfortunately, they won't let us use the launcher in the games because of "liability issues." But if you went to that grillout thing, you got to see it there. We might try to come up with some money for something else also, but we are barely able to afford a second trip...
Wow that was a whole lot longer than I meant it to be...sorry. |
yeah, we are going to have to scrape up the money to go. On top of that we are planning on making a new robot cart for Nats. We are a little short on cash, but i think we can pull it off.
|
One thing I can suggest with a cart is to make it dual purpose, and reuseable. We have one cart that we have used for 3 years now...it is a bit bigger than needed, but it can fit each of our robots on it. Also, we added the capability to make our cart into a workbench for the pit area. This lets us keep the robot up high to work on, have a shelf underneath, and gives us room for more stuff in the tiny little pits. Just something we thought of this time that I thought I might share.

Hey, I got one of the 1020 Mini-CDs, just got it in my computer at home, and found out that it is blank! Apparantly the person burning them forgot to burn this one, even though it got labelled! So what was supposed to be on it?

If you ended up getting a blank CD, we apologize profusely, and if you send your name and address to ammorrison@bsu.edu, you'll get not only a brand-new honkin' CD, but also a special autographed version, plus some other goodies. Let me know! Quote:
For the chicken dance, thanks for all in the stands who joined me, you were a big support, and boy was I embarrassed. ;) |
