Defensive blocking is not the same as ramming. The game isn't all about offense. But slamming another team's bot around just isn't cool. If your driver was bumping or boxing out another team, you shouldn't worry about it. If your driver is maliciously attacking another bot with intent of damage, your driver needs an attitude adjustment and a stern talking to.

As a driver, I don't disagree with ramming abother robot. If you are capable of having an all out battle with someone else, then go for it. However, if you are maliciously attacking a dead or near dead robot, then hopefully you would have the common sense to back off and go away. I do not agree with pinning. I think pinning is one of the worst things one team can do to another. If you pin someone under the allotted time, give up for a while, come back. Don't keep them in the corner, back off, and continue to pin them......... let the matches play out.

I define ramming as repeatedly striking another robot, often against a fixed object.

I equate sitting on top of the hill with sitting in the middle of an interstate highway, you know you are going to get hit (often). Those robots attempting to control the hill might as well paint a target on their robot. If it takes repeated hits (ramming) to dislodge the robot from the top of the hill, I warn, "Squatters Beware!"

I still believe that this years winner will be fast, agile, and durable. We will know for sure in a little over a month.

What was the lie? A long time ago, are programmer was the only guy in the pit during lunch and some scouts asked him questions. He didn't know any of the non-programming answers so he just made things up. The odd thing was the scouts didn't know are bot couldn't do 100ft/s.

I really don't want to go into specifics about the team, but it wasn't anyone who has posted here so far. I can say that today I saw them do a similar thing on at least 2 occassions. They were warned by the refs once. I'm gonna look at the video before I jump to any conclusions.

I don't deny ramming as a perfectly valid tactic, I used it in most of the matches today, but to a purpose. Pinning is legal for 10 seconds, but I see it as a low blow, and wouldn't use it on another bot unless it was the last resort.

I agree that teams on the hill should expect to be rammed. But what about a team that knocks you off the hill and then follows you down and knocks you off the ramp and then knocks you into the wall, and then pins you to the wall. That's malicious, and that's similar to our situation.

When we asked them about their drivetrain, they told our scout basically the opposite of the truth. It wasn't until after the match that I went and looked at the bot. I was a little surprised when a bot with 2WD with Bosch's in high gear pushed our 4wd in low around the field. Their drivetrain was completely enclosed, so our scout couldn't really tell they were lying.

I might post a link to video of this incident if I can get it uploaded

I think it's in the best interest of all to not post the video. It would identify the team in question, and we don't want another flame war blasting around. Get the video hosted, give link upon private requests, not public maybes

:D We don't need any senseless name calling & finger pointing. That can be discussed/settled via some private method.
