Orient bins? Yup, my team can :)
edit: whoops, my brother just posted for my team. meh |
there was one team that could orient and stack at the buckeye they were the only team that was good at it but i can't remember what number they were their bot had a roller system and a little poker thing to right boxes works pretty good
|
we can do it........I think the above post is about us....

If the bin isnt moving around due to plow bots, and stays in one place, I. . .
|
we can, and we did.. :-)

MOE (team 364) did it too, at the Chesapeake regional. They have a nice, well-designed mechanism for righting bins.
Aye (for them) or maybe, They. |
stackers are pretty good if they have something to align the boxes so that they dont slip...
i thought that team 624 did a VERY good job of building up on the human stack... they got to five or six high in some rounds i think (and kept it up away from others) |
aye?
aye aye, we right them with a flaming passion... maybe not, but watch some footage from annapolis, our driver got quite good at it by the finals (and we're moe, 365, not 364, but it's ok :-p, i don't remember any of your team numbers either)

Team number 648 had a "poker" on the front that could turn over bins quickly and efficiently. We had to remove it because it was useless because we didn't feel the need to stack. Besides, the playing field is too chaotic to stack and even see the bins.

Not that we need to since we can pick it up anyway....

I thought we proved you guys wrong...
How many of you saying "stacking is irrevalant" were watching the Annapolis Regional? I thought we proved you wrong. We only got to the finals due to our ability to stack. And some dumb luck.
We have a cool little thingy on the front of our robot that flips bins and we stacked 4 successfully, and almost 6 unsuccessfully. I think people will be intruiged when we introduce a new ability to the game. We didn't do it at Annapolis because we weren't sure whether we could pull it off. I am confident that we can do it, and I hope to prove it during practice rounds. hehehe. Well, I feel stackers are still in the game. Good luck guys. |
Me Me Me
I believe we can do it. I think. I am sure of it. I thank you. Good bye.

Team 1114 has a neat little flipping arm that can flip over boxes. I don't know how much they use it in actual competition, however.

Since you asked... We were in Annapolis (in the next pit - 384). Yes, you have a very nice mechanism for righting and stacking the boxes. I didn't personally see the match in which you placed a 4-stack, but I did hear of it. What I did see was several other failed attemps. The problems I perceived were that external jostling and bumping from other robots gave your stacker problems, and in the end, you weren't consistently able to place the stack.
I guess my summary is that a) stacking CAN turn the tide of a match, but b) stacking is too unreliable (from what I have seen) to count on I love your design, and I look forward to seeing what is new at Nationals. At this point, I am only hoping that we will get to go, as our school board has cancelled all field trips outside of our city due to the war. We'll see. |
