Wow...THE WORLD FELL OVER! AHH! :) Anyways...nice. I wonder what'll happen if we go against someone like you and our arms collide. Hmm.

Spikey 10-03-2003 20:39

It does not seem to be downloading, does it have to load the entire thing or can you watch segments of it as it is downlaoded?

Gadget470 10-03-2003 20:56

I couldn't view the flailer in IE but i was able to save target and view with quicktime player.

"Batter up"

We have some videos of our "arm" robot at http://www.team980.com.

Actually, our robot has 3 arms--one for knocking down bins from our starting position, and 2 for pushing and stacking bins. The latter two fold up like a duck's wings at the beginning of the competition.

One interesting fact about our robot is that the 2 stacker arms ride up and down on a post that also rotates to turn our big arm (plus another non-rotating post).

We will be in Phoenix in few days where we will see Cyber Blue, Team 234 and their flailer. Nice to have another "arm" robot in the competition. :-)

That flailer is thanks to our engineer Eric Engebretsen. Thats his baby ;)

Josh Hambright 11-03-2003 08:53

Here is one that is pre competition but its part of our bot:

That would be something to see. Of course we could wind up on the same team, and then I guess we would be competing "arm 'n arm". :-)

(By the way, I noticed that you were at home last weekend. I hope you will be making it to Phoenix.)

Our arm is the baby of our lead engineer, Mike Kirkland. He spent a good amount of time personally sanding the sections (after the students had done some and gone home) so they will slide out. We will have to introduce these guys, since they appear to be operating on the same "wave length".

That would have been Phil Ogsten our lead scouting. One of the "horns" broke of the flail. We have lots of extras made (we figured we'd break a lot of them :) ) It should only take about ten minutes to swap it out.
