Yeah...too bad my team doesn't have those hot chix. Those would sure be nice to have. :P *runs away*

Josh Hambright 13-03-2003 23:47

the best part is when they rock like ours and do work!

Even if you loose you still got the females there to make it all better.

Every team should have hot chix thus why the RCU is a good thing.

Alright, I don't know Shannon Schnepp all that well, but judging what I know about you and Chris, I can picture this happening.

I was near tears when they took our crate away in St. Lou. *sigh*

Ah well, there's always IRI, right? I think that's Chris' last competition, and I know we're losing seniors too, but we'll have fun nevertheless.

Josh Hambright 14-03-2003 01:24

Shannon is crazy, she is a lifer.

Its going to be alot of peoples last competition on our team...it'll be my last one as a high school student, i dont know if i'll drive there or not, i took over for carl (former driver now advisor) at IRI last year and did a crappy job, but i dont know if we will do that again this year or not, probably.

I hope i can fill chris's shoes next year, though my feet are probably bigger then his.

Amanda Morrison 14-03-2003 01:28

If there is anything I've learned from FIRST, a great mentor always produces great students, who become great mentors, who produce great students...

See? You don't need robotics to get the girls. Just ask a mentor how it's done, preferably ones like Chris Noble from 461 who have been around for four years, and they'll tell ya.

Believe me. An engineering major will always get the girls before any other type of major. Go visit Rose-Hulman sometime. I wouldn't lie. :D

Josh Hambright 14-03-2003 08:14

ask chris for ladie advice?

He should be asking me:) I am the robotics Ladies man!

We have love on our robotics team between 2 underclassmen members...and its adorable... everyone is all "see robotics = love" and it makes me laff!

Amanda Morrison 15-03-2003 12:16

I think Robotics actually encourages involvement with other people. After all, you're around these people 24 hours a day, seven days a week (save for showering, sleeping, etc.). If you find someone that you're compatible with on your team, I say go for it - you're going to be around that person a lot, and as long as you aren't all over each other in the stands or anything, you will have someone to eat lunch with and have a good time.

Last year, we ended up having five different 'couples' during the build season, and another after nats. One broke up immediately, one dragged on and made both miserable for a while, one is still semi-together, and three are still going strong.

I think one of the hardest thing about being in a relationship with someone on your team is that you have to realize that you're there to design, build, engineer, and have fun in the process... and that doesn't always give you a lot of time to hang out with your significant other. Because of this, some girls and guys get jealous, and things just don't work out (at all). I know some of the couples on our team worked out a night after robots where we would all just go bowling, or out to eat, or somewhere besides a team meeting where we could spend time together... (this is especially effective if your team is made up of different schools) and the couples that realized that robots and relationships are two different things are the couples that are still together, a year or more later.

Whatever you do, make sure that you can do both before you get in over your head.

Some of you guys are crazy!
Robotix fantasies? Of being great drivers? = Beatles?
.....
OK, well, I'm guilty just the same, not, er, in the same
story line, (no male unmentionables please!)
but guilty nonetheless of daydreams
:p

but some of your stories.... chick magnet? lifter 'couches'?
wow,
i'd say try the smile thing first,
b/c remember, that FIRST girls are sligtly different,
and if they don't not like it,

be aware, they prob. know how to use power tools
....
or misuse:ahh:

Ash 15-03-2003 23:47

Hey....

Fantasies are a perfectly legal way of relieving stress, and they're all I got! Whenever I try to talk to a girl its always "Hi, my nam::gurgle:: ::gag:: ::stammer, stutter, look like a fool::" :( . I find it much easier to just think about what I would say to a girl than actually say it to her.

Besides, whats wrong with being crazy? They keep me sane.

This is true,
but you should try stuttering anyway!
she might put you at ease, er, yeah
and if you don't then it will forever be in your head.

there is nothing wrong w/ being crazy, it's a way of life for me man!
It also keeps the rest guessing
:yikes:

Don't forget that FIRST girls are much different than the rest of the fe-species... they're brainy, they've got power tools, and they think FIRST boys are adorable. No matter how nerdy they may or may not be, or consider themselves to be.

Go up to those girls. Talk to them. Stammer. Twitch. Do whatever it is that you do - but just be yourself, and guaranteed, there's a girl out there for you wishing on her lucky drill motor that you'll come around and talk to her.

Joe Matt 16-03-2003 21:15

Yeah, be free, be yourself, even if it means for you to pass out and go into spasms.

Awww, come on, give your peers some credit. :)

I've yet to meet a FIRST student with that little self-esteem, confidence, or courage. Girls aren't half as intimidating as you make them out to be. Let's see if I can make this easier.

FIRST boys - think of girls as robots. Except really, REALLY hard to put back together or make sense of. Once you figure one of them out, keep that one, and never tear it apart or analyze it again! :p

Josh Hambright 17-03-2003 12:36

I have a non robotics girl and she is begining to despise the team and first because she never gets to see me...

I really have to make an effort to make time for her in between work and robots and school...

She was like cursing when she found out the ship date was extended cuz she knew that was just more time i would be spending at school.

Silly girl.

They are like robots, and i have a whole theory about that, but i dont want to get into it now.
I also have a theory as to why all robots are communist.

I have alot of strange theories, ask the people on my team:)
