ok, this is really tickin me off now, I'm tring to get my advatar on and it keeps telling me its too big, so I make the picture smaller so it has less pixel and its still too big. Its so tiny you can't tell what it is any more. Why is this?

this is it, everything but the white

its 123x116 pixels.
It has to be no more than 80x80, including that outer whitespace.

Why are others so big and mine has to be be so small though?

Could you just crop the image to not include the dead space of the white? You can still tell what it is now, just crop it so the white is not there anymore, unless you want that for some reason.

Also, I see that it is a .gif file. If you save that as a jpeg file, it will reduce the file size considerably.

I just did and its still too big, 58x56 pixel

Whats the file size? (bytes, not dimensions) You are also limited to 25k.
