Great Lakes
Wow...
A little supprising how there hasn't been a thread started allready on the largest FIRST regional. (I think) 201 is leaving tommorrow morning at 6:00 AM, and I can't wait. Quite a few teams will be unvailing their bot there (71, 111, ...) Should be quite an interesting competition. Good Luck to all teams going. However, not to dissapoint you now, but 201's going to win. :D See you all there! Jack PS: I don't know how i'll handle the seperation from CD for 3 days though. ;) |
I'll be there on Saturday, so come say hi if you can find me.. :)

Good luck to all teams, and if you wanna talk to me, i'll be the one on team 5 with the red hair!!! (Just look in our pit!) P.S. There shouldn't be any "junk" talkin'. I'm against this, but hey, it's fun! |
yeah, its gonna be great. we are leaving 7:15ish as we are 20 minutes away. Hope to see ya all there! we wont win though. hopefully i'll be driving our bot. lots of AAAAAAA!! ing will occur i assume :) we feel so bad about starting that too
|
meh.... inspection...... so tired........
*sigh* If anyone there wants help going over their robot quick in the morning before it gets inspected just find me, i'll be wearing my first crew shirt and buttons for 862, and my william gibbins name tag =) |
Well.. after some coding vs wiring mix-ups I think we'll be all set to be competitive tomarrow. I didn't get much of a chance to go around and see all the bots and how they work, nor see practice matches but from what I did see there is a lot of competition out there.
217: has a pretty neon green stacker, which I believe stacked 4 or more, as well as being a fast autonomous. Was really funny to see them overshoot the turn to the center and smash into the lexan almost perfectly centered. :) Jack: 71 isn't at Great Lakes 111: I was a little confused as to what it did because they were working on their swivel-wheels when I walked by. Looks like either a 'ramp creator' or a 'ramp blocker' Feds: Looks nice, but that was a dastardly tip you guys took. 33: Nice, fast bot, broke their shifter during a tangle with us. I hope we didn't cause it and that you were able to fix it. Lotta nice teams, I'm impressed |
where can i get the webcast?

From what I've seen, 111 looks to be a very cool robot. (No I'm not there). :) Stupid V V V V |

Hey you guys, great job on the competitions today. I'd gladly like to congradulate all of the teams who worked really hard on ranking in the top 10. Good luck to all in the finals tomorrow. See you later.
Go 1037!!! |
Anyone hear about 470's inspection problem Thursday?
We were 129.5lbs *phew* We were 36.5" long *eek* 470 is an Ypsilanti team (which is also where competition is) so our mentor ran (drove) to our build room, grabbed a portable bandsaw and within the hour we were 35.75" long. Houston Here We Come! |
I thought the competition was really boring. There was hardly any stacking at all. Just bulldozing the bin wall and random pushing around.
|
true, would be nice to see some stacking actually happen. Only stacking I saw was Thunderchickens during practice rounds
|
I think "Stack Attack" really means attacking pre-made stacks, not actual stacking.
|
too long for stacking. especially us. still, ratherize go over the ramp.
congrats to team 302!:D |

Great Lakes Regionals was awesome! We didn't make it to the semi finals but hey, It was fun just being there!:D I'd like to thank all of our alliances for making this an unforgettable experience!:p
|
Thanks to Team 783 for being our alliance partner in two matches. It was a lot of fun. Thanks to all of our alliance partners for helping too. Congrats to 302, 67, and 226 for their victory today. See you all at Nationals.
|
Thanks again 302 and 67 for picking us for your alliance!
302 was incredible playing in every match of the elimination rounds. Team HOT you guys are the only ones I saw there that could efficiently stack (and carry 6 across the ramp) fantastic robot. Thanks again we are so excited to be able to now go to nationals!! Congrats to all of the finalists, it was an incredibly tough crowd. Wildstang, Nachi, Rush you guys were incredible out there |
Yeah, there was a lot of good teams out there. 67 was a really good stacker and the only successful one. Our original plan was to do something very similar but it didn't work anyway. The stack of 6 I found was amazing until I saw them fall. But still, there was a lot of good matches out there.
|
I'd like to thank our alliance partners, 33 and 280. You guys were awesome! We got a tough break there in the semis, but your performance was outstanding.
|
I'd like to thank teams 322 and 71 for picking us. The finals were so close, but you both did a great job. It seemed kind of funny since our alliance was kind of a dream team. 71 winning at buckeye, 322 winning at pittsurgh, and us getting 2nd at pittsburgh.
I liked the pittsburgh regional a little bit better it was smaller and i saw quite a few more interesting robots. But i did like how people started chanting "no more junk" when we went up for the imagery award. I wonder if anyone will reactivate the forumn complaining about people yelling "hey!" at random intervals. I enjoy it. If i wasn't part of my team, I would probly really hate our team. We are so annoying. :) |
Congratulations to everyone. It was nice seeing my friends on 217 and 226 make it to the final round, even though they were competing against each other. We shared a building with 226 and we worked together often (especially while we were building the playing field). It was great to see them do well.
My team finished with an 18th place ranking. Not bad, but we didn't get chosen for the quarterfinals. There's always West Michigan... |

oops. yes i did mean team 27. 71 wasnt even there. Sorry rush. I cant wait to see 71's robot next weekend...they are sure to have something interesting.
|
I would like to thank team 27 and 217 for the great job they did with us in the finals. We had to start team 27 and 217 in the first round of the championship round because we broke one of our transmissions in a tough semifinal round. They did a great job of getting the lead that we wanted in the first round, unfortunately we couldn't't do much to help 27 in the second round who still did a great job of almost clearing then number of totes we needed to win. Congratulations to team 302, 226, and 67 for the win, you guys were very tough. Hope to see everyone at Western Michigan and the Nationals.

It seemed to rather catch on with a few teams but then some people were saying that it wasn't our chant to be saying... now that was confusing because it was our chant starting at nats 2 years ago. =P Gimmie an A! Gimmie an A! Gimmie an A! Whats that spell? --- Ahh great lakes definately had its moments this year, when 217 won the imagery award the front rows of our team all stood up and did the chicken dance =) good job on the award and being a finalist! |
oh yes i bet alot of people are waiting to see what 71 will come up with this year. Watch it they might be able to flip over the side of the ramp in auto, i would just love to see any team do that it would be quite "innovative". Very great job at great lakes everyone i had an awsome time there and im anxiously waiting to see everyone out at the midwest regional.

I would like to thank the AAA crew, 862, for supporting us, Team RUSH, during the finals. It was fun! Look forward to seeing you guys at nationals. Good Luck!! And...Gimme an "A" |

Gimme an "O" It was nice seeing a team as spirited as yours at the competition. |
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Oooooooooooooooooooo
I am honestly surprised we didn't get picked for eliminations but I'm not upset over it. We did well, I'm proud of what we accomplished. We went home with 2 awards, one of which is sending us to Houston! Not as many tip-overs as I expected. 67 made a very nice save after almost falling over. Was entirely luck that they uprighted but it was still neat. I was surprised at how often the Thunderchickens tipped, I thought they had a lower CG than they did. A lot of neat matches and not much for seemingly fixed ones. I was rather annoyed with the non-random match listings but it's too late to do anything now. |
All I can say right now is: "Dip your BOT in the CREEK...Go 1037!"
(In reference to a team poster at Great Lakes:D ) Congrats to 302, 226, and 67! That was an awesome match :) |
does anyone have video of GLR. I would really love to see the finals and wildstang in action.

How did Great Lakes manage to avoid opponent agreements?
Congratulations to all the teams at Great Lakes on a Great Regional. I wish that we had been there.
(I am originally from Toronto, Canada and I head up to the Great Lakes area nearly every year, to a little island near Blind River, Ontario -- 100 miles east of Soux St. Marie. Just hearing about the Great Lakes makes me a bit home sick.) At the risk of bringing up a subject that has been declared unfit for the "dinner table", I would sincerely like to know how the Great Lakes Regional managed to avoid "opponent alliance agreements"? (I tried sending an email to one of the teams, but didn't hear back.) Our regional is coming up and any info would be appreciated. Petitions? Meetings? Written requests? Other? Nothing at all, except the wonderful gracious professionism of the teams? (Do me a favor and keep all responses friendly to everyone, so this thread doesn't get shut down before I get an answer.) LOL |
