Just to update this. At the Midwest Regional we had no problems with them not letting us use the motors as drive. We actually got some comments from the FIRST crew about them and that it was a good idea.

There was also not a problem with us playing soft music in the pits and reasonally loud music on the way to the matches so people moved out of the way.

We are planning on having about the same next year with some modifications I believe :-)

Top View That is a link to the top view. There is the controls on the handle and the motors does make quite a bit of noise. The FIRST crew knew it was powered and really didn't care. Also who would put a big battery on top of their cart for no reason :-)

Do you just have the 2 eight inch kicker subs, or are you going to add some mids and highs?

Also, what kind of batteries are you using to power it, and how much play time do you get before you have to recharge? (I'm assuming 12V, but how many Amps and Ah?)

And what kind of charger do you use?

Please note the original thread date before you post, the thread starter may have long graduated. I get carried away sometimes too, CD's archives are fun. :)

Welcome to Chiefdelphi!

thanks, Vivek

p.s. Justin Cooper is still very involved with FIRST so he may reply to this thread.

We used a 12 volt battery out of a lawn mower. Top View

We added some other mids and highs later. The whole project was done the night before the Sussex Invitational where this was taken

It would go almost all day at competition before the battery would die (We weren't using the sound really loud because that was really discouraged then and now)

This cart was only used 1.5 years. . . The front wheels really took a beating and fell apart
