Light Pieces
How many light lens covers have you broken in competition? So far we've broken 2 in practice rounds.
|
We broke one or two at Phoenix, on an opponent robot of course. :D

Light Debris
I worked at the Small Parts table for a short time yesterday. Mostly all I did was play with the broken light fragment from the "claim your robot debris" pile. Those lights shatter into some pretty small fragments, huh.:)

None!
And our light smacked into the bar a few times. Anyone look under the ramp at the competition? There are so many pieces from lights, and other robots.. it is great. Lights literally shatter when hit. |
None!

Speaking of broken pieces of robots... Next time you are at a competition, whether it be a regional or in Houston, look under the ramp. That ramp acts as a cheese grater on robot wheels, lights, and other misc. pieces.. It looks like a graveyard of tiny pieces under those ramps! lol
edit: oops looks like AJ beat me to this noticable outcome of the game.. sorry!! But it does bear repeating! lol |

none on our bot.
We were involved in the flipping of another robot(we pushing them down the ramp and they went over) and their teammate hit and broke their light cover. Actually, we got flipped twice, one time the little piece of wood our light was mounted to (flimsy plywood) broke and saved the light, the other time the peice cut out of the big boxes FIRST gave us our kit in used to replace the broken peice of wood bent and saved the light. We were lucky. About the ramp, we have one external chain on each side of the robot, and we had cardboard covers to protect it and other robots from it . . . well, it got hit anyway, and the chain and one sprocket came off the robot. The chain fell through the grateing on the ramp, but the sprocket was too big. We replaced the chain and didn't get the original back until the end of that day. |
well our light has not been broken *yet* because we have it semi-protected. ill show you a pic if martus doenst take it off.
[edit:brandon] image removed. it exists in the picture gallery already. I've already given you examples on how to use the [IMG] tags. ![]() Thanks for not calling me 'stupid martus' this time, also. [/edit] |

:yikes: :yikes: :yikes: |
we have not broken a lens yet, b/c the one time we flipped our arm kept us from completly doubling over onto the top of the bot.... of course our arm got slightly bent.
|
We've broken 3 so far, all of them red. The get broken when a robot rides partially up on our robot in a pushing match. We've been keeping them as mementos.
|
Um...
We haven't broke any yet but I am sure we crack one or maybe both of em.
|
NEVER!!
We guard ours like a tank.
Ask anyone whose seen our robot, it's gonna take alot of effort to break it. |
We lost our red light cover... or someone accidentally took it. Either way, we got a replacement one from the machine shop table... but the only one they had had been broken and taped back together. It's ghetto-fab... I'll try to get a picture tomorrow, if I can remember.
|
I'm not too sure... I don't think any...

We broke our blue light before we shipped our robot. We were aiming at a stack of four, ran right into it, and the top bin just happened to fall on our light in the right position so as to crack it. Luckily it didn't shatter.
At SVR, we were in a match with a bot that had wings. In autonomous mode, we were going up the hill and as were they, I believe. As we made it over the hill, their wing grazed over the top of our 14" robot and got caught by our light. Their bot was trying to move away and so was ours. Just before we had human control of the robot, the opposing forces caused their wing to shear our light off. Not just the light cover, but the reflector and the light bulb as well. :ahh: Heh... it was kinda cool. That became a task to replace, but our electronic specialist was kinda pleased to finally have something to do... lol. |
We broke the entire light assembly in St. Louis and almost broke another but we got lucky and the light bent backwards and bent the steel mesh.

You'd think that they wouldn't break so easily, since they're domed, but no. We broke another team's light cover at BAE.
|
Broken - 0
Cracked - 1 (our blue one i think...) And that is from a bin falling from the top of the stack and hitting us. No robot/robot or robot/bar action... |
