We Had Light Sabre's....What about you?

Well at the Canadian Regional we had Light Sabre's...

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...&quiet=verbose

Any other fancy things encountered at any other regionals?

Jonathan M. 30-03-2003 17:26

Well Our team was SUPPOSED to get these really cool blow up sowrds. But some one forgot to order them. Not naming names though. . . There was some cool stuff though like cogsquad's ball things they passed out and the frisbes that uh..... Flashbacks? passed out. But the light sabres look really cool. *_* I want one.

Scottie2Hottie 30-03-2003 17:41

is that picture photoshopped?

Pin Man 30-03-2003 18:20

I want one!!! lol

kristen 30-03-2003 18:20

That's awesome! I wish I had been around to see it, but my team left basically right after the awards ceremony. The pink/green laser flashing things that were handed out during the competiton reminded me of light sabres the whole weekend.

Matt Attallah 30-03-2003 18:47

We had little flashing LEDs that flashed red and blue! With magnitic holdings, it could go anywhere!!!

I think that's cooler than some sort of light sabre... :D

Alaina 30-03-2003 18:50

Our team had little baggies which contained pretzel sticks, a pack of spicy mustard, and a temporary tattoo...People really loved them...Especially the pregnant judge. lol

Derek Rebel 30-03-2003 21:35

Boy that guy with the scally cap and pink light sabre is DEAD SEXY. Who could he be?

Yeah, our light sabres are radical....:D

Everyone at the UCF regional had light sabers..

Spot Mace Windo..

Harrison 30-03-2003 22:08

I think both our teams should bring Light Sabres to Nats - People seem to like them.

I wonder what the Customs people will think of them when we go the airport?

Pin Man 30-03-2003 22:10

So many sabers!

Those are some mad photoshop skills. LoL. Why didn't I think about that.

Melissa H. 30-03-2003 23:01

A light sabre would be an interesting thing to try to get past airport security...

Security: "Excuse me, Miss, what's with the light saber?"
Me: "I plan to protect a Robotics Competition from the forces of evil...just doing my job :p..."

hehe :D

AlbertW 30-03-2003 23:45

soon terrorists will be carving their way through the reinforced cockpit doors with lightsabres ;)

HolyMasamune 31-03-2003 02:07

i think our team shoudl make lightsabers for publicity :D im sure everyoen will notice us that way

Ryan Dognaux 31-03-2003 10:44

First off, I gotta say nice photo skills :) those are some realistic light sabers there.

Second, lol is making a lightsaber even possible?? or something to the effect of it?? I know there are lazers that can through things... well... couldn't there be a saber-like lazer made? I dunno that would be cool though :p

Which is why I need to bring my lightsabre ;) :p
But honestly, that's a scary thought ::shivers::

Pin Man 31-03-2003 17:04

hahaha

ChrisA 31-03-2003 17:42

Ah... I see someone figured out the secret to making lightsabers using PS. Very nice.

Lightsabers are not possible with today's technology unless someone has a really well kept secret.

Pin Man 31-03-2003 18:16

Well give me some pizza, Dr. Pepper, chinese food, pen and paper and I will design one...

Melissa H. 31-03-2003 18:49

*Hands Pin Man some pizza, Dr. Pepper, chinese food, pen and paper...*:p ;)

Hailfire 31-03-2003 18:57

One question, did you edit those pictures or are those real? It looks like the light sabers are a little too bright. So bright that I can't view the picture too long or my eyes will hurt. But then again, I'd have to be up close to see for myself. It kind of looks like some kind of special effect was added though.

Melissa H. 31-03-2003 18:59

Photoshop...it does wonders:D

Hailfire 31-03-2003 19:00

Yup, exactly, I was right. :D

kristen 31-03-2003 21:14

Whooaa.. before I read the rest of this topic, I saw that photo and I thought that it was real. I was like "whoa!!!!! that is soo cool!"

;)

I think it got a few people....lol

The people in the pic are actually holding wood poles (anyone from the Canadian Regional knows that it was part of our pits).

Through photoshop the wood became light sabre.

AJ Quick 01-04-2003 00:49

Oh... so its not real like the UCF ones?

Lame.

:p

Wood poles to light saber. Interesting. Unfortunately we don't have Photoshop and I've never used it. I've never even seen it. Someday we'll get it. Someday. <sigh>

kristen 01-04-2003 19:13

Wait.. the FIRST picture was modified in photoshop, too?!

.... Sheesh, I'm slow :P

Hailfire 01-04-2003 19:18

By looking at the handle more closely, I can see now that they really are wooden poles.

Dude, you are not very good at making Light Sabres. McGuyver can make one out of a paper clip, a rubber band, and some hamster droppings. Beat that!

Pin Man 01-04-2003 21:35

I don''t think I can beat that...
