ahh......no DDR...... i refuse to let DDR be run on Clark and I's PS2... that game totally defeats the purpose of video games... even though the music isnt that bad

We had DDR at UCF but stopped playing when we got a noise complaint. Personally I'm horrible at it. For those on the lazier side there is a ddr emulator called Dance With Intensity you play with the arrow keys. Amazingly addictive and its fun to show off when you can do 10 step songs at blindingly fast speed.

A couple of people on my team play it...They have all the songs from it on a CD...It was played constantly at meetings, and they'd even dance to it...I, on the other hand, can't stand it...

ddr takes too much brainpower...

I've only played DDR on arcade since I don't have a PS2, within the past 3 days I've probably spent around 5 dollars on DDR alone. In my opinion, money not wasted. ;)

Okay, I know DDR is exorbitantly expensive here. . . our machines are on Joint Premium Play (the same price for one or two players) . . . and I pay $1.50 for 4 songs. . .

but even still. . . before the season started and I had some free time, I'd spend anywhere between $30-$40 a week. ...the wonders of disposable income.

Wahoo! DDR RULES!!!! Im the guy who was running the DDR show for Jesuit High School Team 1097 lol...I dont think i could have survived without video games. Whats funny is that my team has no idea how bad I am compared to some other people, I guess they were all just amazed to see a DDR high.

Ryan Dognaux 02-04-2003 21:28

LOL so who's bringing DDR to nats again? lol that would be awesome if we could get something set up...

DDR here costs 50 cents for 3 songs - not too bad :)

Anyone bringing it to Nats??

codeoftherobot 04-04-2003 02:45

if you want to make some money, have an arcade loan you the latest ddr machine and find some way of transporting it to nationals. then charge about 25 cents more for the dances (make up an excuse for the price) then after a little while you've made profit then don't return it to the arcade and you have yourself a machine.:D

different part of the brain... ddr requires the part that connects my eyes and my feet, which apparently is missing (i tend to run into things... like... i see it, but i keep walking anyway... the arrows move too fast!)

:D

So much of DDR is about finding patterns. It's all math.

After awhile, when you get used to picking up the rhythm and pattern of the songs and the arrows, you don't even need to pay attention to the screen anymore.

The only thing I watch for are the changes. Most songs have reasonably good flow and they're really, really easy to pick up and just run with.

Yep. All math, like (most) music in general.

AlbertW 04-04-2003 15:37

I agree that the DDR is mostly math, but most music? I don't understand. I can see how one could find math in music, but what do you mean?

Also, DDR is awesome, but I couldn't imagine paying more than $100 for it. I convinced my parents to buy it as a way to exercise and a familiy activity- for $75 (including two pads)
...And I've been addicted since, but without a single $ from my wallet.

In music you have a time signature and rhythm that is shown at the beginning and throughout a piece of music. by using constant counting and knowing when beats normally begin, you can calculate what the next note might be. many of the most popular songs have been compared mathematically and found to be almost alike from Bach to U2.
