Dancing at nats...

Team 692, the Fembots, has something in the works for Championships in Houston and we were wondering who is willing to dance? Perhaps mascots would like to join as well? I can't tell you too much about what we want to do 'cause we're kinda trying to keep it on a down low for the moment.

srawls 04-04-2003 19:28

Haha ... I'm up for it!

As for my resume, I did the funky chicken on top of the ramp at philly before being told to get off, and I danced with the MC at philly on the field before award ceremonies :D

What do I need to do?

If I was GOING to nats, people know that I'd be one of the few people to volunteer myself to dance ;)

But, since I'm not.... someone volunteer for me. I'll be there in spirit ;)

Dancing at comps is soooo much fun, so it's a shame that most people on my team don't like to dance! Let me know what's up and I'll do it (I'm not a mascot, though... we don't have one!). Just for some info, I can do the Cha Cha Slide, Electric Slide, and most other well known dances if that helps!

It's a well known fact that dancing randomly breaks out at nats every year... usually in front of einstein before opening ceremonies on Friday. Typically the YMCA, Macarrina, Electric Slide, Cotton Eye Joe, and the like are played back to back, resulting in an ever increasing mass of dancing people at the foot of Einstein.

Jupee 04-04-2003 21:29

Dance your <3's out!

You can count on 461 to be up and dancing. We're always busting out the moves. Plus, we're always there to support our alliance partners and other teams who have helped us along the way (big thanks to 71, 68, 45...if there is one I forgot--my apologies). After spending six weeks building a robot which we adore, it's nice to relax and just go nuts in our "down time" between matches :)

CyberKnights182 04-04-2003 21:35

wow... count 195 in. We got our DDR skills and we'll bust out some moves on the ramp. Maybe we can get some special moves involving the boxes. I can just see it now..... 15 year old boy hospitalized after dancing incident involving rubber-made containers and duct tape..... oh yeah i cant wait!!:)

Lisa Rodriguez 04-04-2003 21:43

i'd be totally willing to dance, im just not sure what i'll be doing when you need me :)
and is this just random dancing or is there some skill? i mean i think i have skill, i just haven't used it in awhile:D
my skills are rusty due to my teams lack-of-enthusiasium & team spirit
o well, maybe i can get some of them to come up too..

Da SPAMinatress 04-04-2003 22:59

count me in... and i'll drag some ppl from SPAM along with me.... ask some of them, they know i can dance

srawls 07-04-2003 18:24

Well, any news yet? I leave wenseday morning (at 4:00 AM no less!), so I was hoping I'd know in advance just how much I'm going to embarass myself infront of all my fellow robot geeks :D

You gotta give credit where credit is due...we are the team that requests those songs every year and the ones that start the dancing...so everyone better get their dance on because we kidnap all the kids that arent dancing every morning and drag them into the fray...:D

Leon Machado IV 07-04-2003 18:33

I'm totally up for it, just not totally coordinated.

The Lucas 07-04-2003 18:55

MOE does the Cha Cha Slide

Our team is planning to do the Cha Cha Slide in massive numbers (we have over 60 people attending). We even brought our own boom box, and made buttons saying something like "MOE does the Cha Cha Slide". I missed most of the times when we did it around the workshop, but I will probably end up dancing sometime at competition since I can actually leave the Pit this year. If you see us dancing, (and how could u miss that many people dancing?) we encourage you to join in. In fact, you can probably convince us to crank up the boom box and start dancing if you try. Now there is a National Challenge for you: how many Miracle Workerz can you personally get to dance?

Don't worry I definately plan on getting my dance on at nats. I should warn you ahead of time however that I couldn't dance if my life depended on it. So don't make fun when I look stupid.:D

BoticsPUNK 07-04-2003 21:14

Harrison 07-04-2003 22:12

I am THE BEST dancer!*

*Legal Notice: For the purposes of this post, "dancing" shall be described as the 'Act of sitting on ones butt, and watching other people dance.' In which case, I am indeed the best.

lol

Elyse Holguin 07-04-2003 22:50

oh yeah! count the girls from 71 in, and some of our guys too!!! w00t! we love dancing! (actually, when the 818 scouters came around, we told them to put that in the extra info about the team section)

Elgin Clock 07-04-2003 23:21

Dancing... Is that what you call the random movement that I attempt at musical events and concerts and the like??

Oh.. ok, well I guess I can do that then.

miketwalker 07-04-2003 23:38

DANCING?!?!?! WE'RE IN!

Lol, it's never a true dance without ComBBAT in it! We'll be there with you guys! :)

RLopez 07-04-2003 23:41

bjammin64 08-04-2003 00:35

my dancing skills are limited but include macarana, YMCA, head-nodding and the most electrifying dance in robotics entertainment
The GILA DANCE :yikes:

hacksaw692 08-04-2003 02:05

Update of sorts...

Our "mascot" doesn't want me releasing too much information, but she's trying to organize and coordinate (as much as one possibly can) the dancing in such a way that it'll look really cool. If all else fails, just join us out on the feild(s) when the time comes... :p

Note: No skill needed, just a want for being competely silly, wacky, and dorky looking. Who cares if you can't dance? We'll probably make you anyways...

Biggs717 08-04-2003 14:36

Anyone who has been at nationals for the past two years knows that team 128 knows how to start the dances! right mimi? and this year in PGH and WMR we did the same! it's so fun so everyone has to come down and dance with us! it's not hard and everyone knows how to dance! :)

Funny...I don't remember them telling us that when we talked about your team before our quarterfinal match.

I know that my team usually can get maybe ten or so people to dance. At West Michigan, I was "volunteered" to dance the YMCA as our mascot. That was interesting, to say the least. I haven't done much dancing other than that (like most of the guys here, I've got zero coordination), but things might change at Houston. I'll see when I get there.

Shana 08-04-2003 15:40

Count me in! If I can do the gila dance in front of people Im sure I can do yours. Also team 1011 can be counted on if were not busy @ the moment.

D.J. Fluck 14-04-2003 00:27

For the record, at nats I did the chicken dance out on staging before our match ;) Andy joined right in, Austin did too and with a little force so did clark!
