This years game was much more exciting to watch and play than last years. I loved everything about this years game EXCEPT the Elim. round format. The boxes worked very, very well as they could be manipulated (pushed) by even th most basic robot so it made most matches very exciting. FIRST madethe right game this year. My only beef besides the elim rounds was the lack of help, documentation and support for autonomous mode.

Autonomous Mode is no doubt the best part of this year's game. let's hope, like alliances, that auto mode is here to stay!

I must agree. I also think that FIRST but love that whole idea. I won't be surprised if they have it next year and they probably will keep it for the 15 seconds.

I have to say the best thing was having all the bots going for King of the Hill. Having bots collide into each other and getting flipped over was cool. If not that then seeing stacks of 8 boxes or so getting knocked over, and flying was pretty amusing

Autonomous mode, in most matches it could make or break the final outcome. Also getting to the ramp was fun, once the last 30 seconds game everyone started yellin and headin towards the ramp where there would be awesome collisions and a way to show the strenght of some teams. All in all a good year

i personally thought the driving part. it got really intense when we would get into a pushing match or when one of the robots would get knocked down. that s just my opinion though....especially when you have Fady driving....

The best part is that we are one of the few teams who successfully built a robot that accomplishes the purpose of the game: stacking!
Well...The game is actually called Stack ATTACK...which, to me, is about ATTACKING STACKS, not creating them. But that's just my impression :)

According to the Innovation First guys I've talked to, Dean loves auton mode, so it should be in there next year.

PS - how about auton at the end of a round? or beginning AND end?

I like the idea of it popping in randomly :D

Remember, you must have a stack to attack it...

auto mode
and next year YOU decide how long it lasts he he he multipliers for how long you stay in it.

You're a masochist, aren't you? That could cause some really funny things to happen though...

That would be a great idea, like 10 seconds minimum, then like multipliers or bonus points for every second or 5 seconds after that. I think all the programmers would like to have more program space if this happens though. I know our programmers were scrounging around for nibbles towards the end of build season.

Jared Russell 16-04-2003 13:26

I don't like the idea of multipliers for auton_mode: the reason they got rid of multipliers altogether is because they were too hard to follow from a spectator's point of view. Plus, a dead robot would give you a maximum score by this logic.

There could be a stipulation that your robot has to be working, i.e. communicating OI and field, and moving around, essentially has to be doing something.

everytime you saw a robot knock downt eh stacks on top.. speciall when teams could get them all... its soo cool when u cant see the robot under the falliing stacks!
