Hockey....the true sport.

Yeah, Im thinking the Leafs are going to take it tonight in this low scoring, unexciting slow paced Game 7. So far this series, they have played something like 27 periods in 6 games? That can't be good on the legs.

Can't argue with anything there :)

And I think either the 2nd or 3rd period tonight they will be starting their 10th game of hockey in 7 games.

GO LEAFS GO!!!

Well, after looking at some stats, I'm going to call the games...

Avs vs. Wild - They (Avs) are going to fall tonight. Not just because I'm a Detroit fan, but they can't get over the Wild. People may think that the Avs would have the experience needed for the game 7, but they are a little older with their team, and they are tired. The Wild have everything going for them. They are young, their guys are "clicking" at the right spot, and have the adrenaline advantage of beating the Colorado Avalanche. The home ice advantage won't help the Avs here. The Wild came back from a 3-1 deficit. I'll put my snow on the Wild!

Tor vs. Phi - Phi has the man power, but Tor has the goalie. This one is very-very close. They both are tired. Nether of them have the adrenaline advantage. Phi has not gone out of the quarter-finals in a few years, and it's at Phi's own home. I think that will be the deciding factor. I'm putting my U.S. currency on Phi.

St.L vs. Can - St. Louis has played with fire, and just got burned. They slacked off their 5th game, and allowed Van to come back. It serves St. Louis right. The thought they could take the Canes lightly, but remember last year? Wings and the Canes? Thanks to the Canes pulling it out, they got their ball rolling while stopping St. Louis' ball from rolling. I'll put my blue-box-blues on the Canes.

(P.S. This is just what I think. I don't mean to offend anyone. I dare you all to find humor in this!)

***Edit***

Well, my Tor vs. Phi prediction was correct...

Good news for Leafs fans. I ran a game simulation on my highly advanced computing device (NHL '97 for my Genesis) and the Leafs came out ahead of the Flyers, 4-1. The Leaf's Garth Snow had his shutout bid ruined by John Leclair, while everyone's favorite Maple Leaf, Wendel Clark, scored all four of Toronto's goals against Ron Hextall.

So what if the rosters are outdated? The important thing is that Toronto won...

J Flex 188 22-04-2003 19:56

LOL!.. that is a very high tech simulation game.. i agree.. i think i have an old copy of NHL 93/95 for my sega awhile ago.. .maybe i sold it hehe

freakin'... if the game only goes 60 minutes tonight, itll be the second longest playoff series in history.. or so my sources tell me (640 mojo AM)..

what are the leafs doing.. no effort right now.. that first powerplay was terrible..but we can bounce back.. we've done it already in this series..we can do it again

nlknauss 22-04-2003 20:00

Flyers are going to beat the Leafs!!

LET'S GO FLYERS...LET'S GO!!

D.J. Fluck 22-04-2003 20:21

Not looking good for the leafs...

3-0 flyers

No way, the Avs are too good to lose, if Roy doesn't repeat last year's meltdown against Detriot:mad: The Wild will get hammered

GO AVS

Plus, wasn't Detriot a little old last year, and what happened i bet you know, yes they won the Stanley Cup

J Flex 188 22-04-2003 20:39

oh come one.. 4-1.. is bad enough

but when the ref calls ANOTHER 5 on 3.. .in the same period..

never mind.. a goal anyways..

what a terrible night..

EDIT - end

GO OTTAWA.. and vancouver...

Hinkel Y. 22-04-2003 21:34

Ya... Looking forward for next year...

Jared Russell 22-04-2003 21:34

hurray :)

Carlo 22-04-2003 21:37

Sorry guys

looks like canada just can't win...Flyers all the way....its ashame that canadian teams just can't win.

Better luck next year.

6-1 SCORE

Matt_Kaplan1902 22-04-2003 21:37

You guys still have Van and Ott. Down here in FL we have the Lighting, c'mon like thats gonna happen. Does anyone remember at natioals in 2002 when there was a USA vs. Canada screaming match across the fake tennis couts at the hotel?

The olympics comes to mind.....but, well, thats another argument for another day (but I will point of that there are more Canadians than Americans on the Flyers ;))

In regards to the Leafs....*sits down and shuts up* Boy did we suck tonight.

jonathan lall 22-04-2003 21:55

Did we ever suck...

I'm surprised by Belfour. I'm not gonna blame him outright, but I think his style killed this game much like Cechmanek (sp?) did last one.

The Leafs really didn't get it going at all, starting with kruddy special teams and offense breaking up in the dump 'n chase.

Ouch.

J Flex 188 22-04-2003 21:59

I agree. belfour had been solid, and looked much more steady than cechmanke throughout the series

i think the early scares and two nothing goals kind of shook him..especially that near give away with svehla..

it was sad to see our defencemen begin to abandon him near the end of the game.. still letting in goals as well.
flyers shut down the SMR line remarkably well.. however, that 2 man forecheck is going to get hammered sooner or later.. or when someone plays neutral zone trapping.. leaving forwards caught behind..
