Yes, its being held the 14th, I was wondering when the registration opens???

Willum 15-04-2003 16:15

Offically, the spots for non-returning teams open on May 1st.

If it's like last year you'll need to be up to register at midnight, the spots fill fast.

Hope to see everyone there!

ColleenShaver 15-04-2003 17:07

Actually, typically registration opens at 8am on May 1st. Teams who competed last year and filled out the survey are automatically preregistered for Battlecry 4. Those teams who did not compete last year or fill out the survey need to register right off the back (spots fill within the first hour or two).

Although the new website isn't up yet, www.wpi.edu/+battlecry will be where you can find all the info and register once it is (right now, it's last year's website so you can check out that and competition history).

So mark June 14th in the calendars... BC4 is going to be great as always!! :)

survey? is there any way for a team that wasn't there last year be able to do this survey or impposible??

ColleenShaver 17-04-2003 10:26

No- basically at the end of the competition, teams are asked to fill out a survey about what they liked/disliked about the competition etc. If they fill it out before a certain time, they are automatically pre-registered for the next year... which means Battlecry staff will hold their spot for a certain amount of time and if they register within that time, they will get the spot... otherwise, it'll go to someone on the waiting list.

Most teams from the previous year fill it out.. i know we made sure we did! There are some spots open every year.. if you get online to register right away on May 1st. Team contacts received an email if they are preregistered for the event.. so check with them if you are unsure.

www.wpi.edu/+battlecry <-- more info there soon!

its too bad its being held on the 14th, no 151 seniors will be there. that is graduation day for Nashua High. Plus there is a local battlebot comp on that day too, most of our kids wont be there.

kinda suxz cause i love bc

graduation

My graduation is also June 14th and I won't be able to participate in it like the rest of my team

Who thinks I should skip my own graduation and pick up my diploma the following Monday?

ahecht 23-04-2003 22:54

We realize that many schools have their graduations on that day, and apologize, but that is the only way the scheduling would work out. Even one of the schools that participates with 190 has their graduation that day. Just look at it as an opportunity for the 9-11th graders to do more on the team!

As it stands now, about 28 teams filled out the survey last year, but not all of those teams have confirmed yet. We will update the web site soon with the exact registration info, but in the mean time, any questions can be forwarded to BattleCry@wpi.edu. As always, we expect registration to fill up very soon after opening -- last year it was within an hour.

Stay tuned for more info.

Pete Smith 25-04-2003 12:35

Is there a registration cost for new teams?

ahecht 25-04-2003 16:57

The regsitration fee is $200 for everyone, and that includes 10 BattleCry4@WPI T-Shirts and a participant medal.

Oh, and since it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, there are a total of 36 spots, plus 6 waiting list spots.

Rick 25-04-2003 17:07

can 121 make it 3 battlecry wins in a row? only time will tell ;)

Kyle Fenton 25-04-2003 17:59

@ 1:30 you have an event called the "Human Player Skills Test"

What is it?
Is it a kind of who can "stack the fastest" type of challange

ahecht 26-04-2003 00:46

We haven't worked out all the details yet, but it will basically be who can make the tallest stack in a given amount of time (with tie-breakers being decided by fastest time back to the pad). We will publish the details after running a few tests and working out the kinks.

And in case everyone hasn't figured it out yet, the website is now live at http://www.wpi.edu/News/Events/BattleCry/.
