If you had one thing to be proud about this season...
If i had one thing to be proud about this season it would be winning the newton division at nationals, and this match would be my proudest moment as a driver (302), what was your proudest moment

I had a lot of proud moments this season...I'm very proud of 814's robot this season. I was proud of Spicy when we won Leadership in Controls at Sacramento. I was proud of Spicy when we won Judge's Choice and made it to Finals at SVR. I'm proud because we have gained a lot of attention and respect from other teams this season.
Building an award-winning wooden bot just gives you an automatic sense of pride...Who knows, maybe it's just the huge claw. :p |
My proudest moment was watching our robot going from 33rd in AZ to 6th in LA, on a suggestion that I made (noone listened at first, but next year I wont be a freshman! Yes!!!).
|
this is an easy one...
one match at the Peachtree regional, our bot got beat up pretty bad. when we finally got it wheeled back to the pits, the students immediately picked it up, set it on the work bench, and proceded to repair the bot. another one of the mentors turned to me and said, "Look there," pointing to the kids working, "this was a successful year." All the students on The Crew made me so proud this year! Great job, guys! |
I'm proud, that for better or for worse... I made it through my first season as a team leader.
|
For me, winning was only part of it. We did well both at LA and at the AZ Regional. That was cool, but in ten years I won't remember our rankings, etc.
I will remember the fact that we had a really cool team that grew as a team by leaps and bounds this year. We developed a leadership structure, a finance base, a parent support group, many partnerships that will help us in the future. We also all took with us aspects of engineering and the real world that will help us later in life. I'll stop before I sound like a advertisement for "GP", but this is really what matters. |
When I joined our team this year, I knew very little to nothing about robotics, except for limited knowledge to use Inventor and how to use some of the machines. I am proud to say that I now definitly know a ton more than when I started, often by screwing stuff up. Next year I'm going to be so much more valuble to my team... I think that this year I mostly saw and learned how things worked. It will be easier to take more initiative next year since I won't be totally clueless.
I'm glad that I got to meet and make friends with so many other people in FIRST this year! |
In my opinion the proudest moment was the influence that we had on 1126 Webster Sparx to get them off the ground. Their appreciation page on their website said it all.
|
I am proud of our Xerox Creativity Award given to us at the Championship. We don't normally recieve many judged awards, and this year has been a delightful change. (Delphi Driving Tommorow's Technology @ UCF)
|
My team as a whole. We ironed out some of the early-on wrinkles. Over came a little budget defect. And we "melded" into a team. I am very proud about that...
And I'm proud of us winning the Xerox Creativity Award for our Vacuum Clamp at Pittsburgh! |
aw, these moments are going to make me cry...
I have definitely experienced a lot of proud moments this season.
1) The Day Before Rutgers - Getting quoted in our local Trenton Times. An article featured on page 3 about 1089 and their hard rookie season (which you can access from our website). 2) At the Rutgers Regional - We were the only rookie team to make it into semi-finals, to then be beaten by our mentors. We were second choice for a top alliance and part of a great 5th alliance (30, ourselves 1089, and 88). Even though we didn't win Rookie All-Star, our list of accomplishments is grand. My proudest moment, however, was when I heard Wayne Cokeley talking to the judges and saying, "I wish my team was this good when we were rookies." 3) At Rutgers - Getting the Chairman's Essay back with comments paper clipped on top, reading, "You are a great rookie team. You've got the right spirit, you truly understand what the meaning of FIRST is. You did the best with what you have and have really stepped up. Learning how to work as a team is the biggest part of the experience and you clearly 'got it.' Your submisssion was very impressive and shows that you are well on your way to being a Chairman's Award winner of the future." C'mon, tell me that wouldn't have made you smile proudly. 4) At Rutgers - Watching team 1156 (Brazil) win Rookie All-Star the first day and knowing that we spent hours the night before working with them on their autonomous code. Literally, we were working until we got kicked out of the building. 5)At Nationals in Texas - Being in Texas with team 25 was a great enough joy for me, but to be able to be there and actually be a part of 25 was something I never expected. Being able to go claim medals knowing that I actually did belong to this team was a great feeling. I know now that I'm not only close to my own team, but 25 as well. (I am coming back to visit you Cokeley! ;)) I have to thank FIRST and 1089 and 25 for everything they've given me this year. It's been wonderful, and I will back. In fact, I wouldn't miss it for the world. |
Our robot had a lot of unique features this season... the urethane omniwheels which allowed us to push everyone at Chesapeake, orientation of the bins (which we took out later in Canada cause it was useless), and in Canada, the ability to hold and protect a stack of 4 perfectly and throughout these two regionals, didn't require any repair that was major during qualifying or elimination... However, the judges didn't come over much in Chesapeake and in Canada, we saw them for about a minute because we and 6 other teams got stuck in the back room. However, it made all worthwhile when Woburn Robotics' (team 188) mentor presented us with a gracious professionalism award for helping to fix their drive train thursday night and friday morning... it's better coming from a team than any judge.
|
I think my proudest moment this season was seeing my team actually get the robot to move! The kids never gave up on their bot and never got discouraged, and that was a great thing to see. It gives you a really good feeling down deep inside to know that you're on a team where everyone cares about each other and works toward one common goal. I guess my moment lasted the entire competition - being proud to be on my team.
|
My proudest moment... was when our team won the Chairman's Award in Arizona. It was a truly great moment. :)
|
There are two pretty close ones for me...
Having a such a great student pit crew that we experienced no failures during the entire competition, especially the finals, and... Our mentored team Francis Parker School, "Frank's Garage" #1055 getting Rookie Allstar at the Midwest Regional. Both of these moments show up the determination, abilities and drive of young people. I hope they are as proud as I am. |
I'm proud that we moved and had auto mode in every match we played, and that we won half of our qual matches.
|
My 3 proudest moments ...
1. winning Engineering Inspiration at GLR 2. discovering that our robot could right itself 3. being chosen to lead such an awesome team |
Quote:
I am also proud that the fram e i welded didn't brake and that our team worked together this year without any huge arguments about the design. We turned ourselves around and plan to do even better next year! :D |
easy, for me it was getting the top seed in Galileo.
|
This year was exectional for our team. There are many standout moments for us . Howver, the one that is brightest for me occurred during Nationals. Our next door neighbors, Team 41, were having a seriously hard weekend. They had little help from their sponser. No mentors. A poorly performing robot. To look at them, you saw a small group of kids who were totally uninspired. They even hung an air freshener on there bot with a sign saying, "We stink" We took notice and decided to try to bring them up. We helped them fix a few of their mechanical problems. That nite, we had a few of our students make buttons for them, made a special "Robbie Award" for "Never say die". The next morning wee made sure we were there first, set out the buttons , ther "Robbie" and some other cool handouts we had. When their team started coming in, and saw what lay before them they were so excited. To see them smile was the best moment I had that weekend.
|
|
My proudest moment was when all sorts of people said that it wasn't possible for a robot to hit the bins in under 3 seconds unless they were an arm bot and we showed up at nationals and hit them in 2.8 or under EVERY match(except the one where we put a delay in for our arm bot partner) and we had countless people in our pit asking about our drive train and how we did it.
|
My proudest moment(s) would have to be the end of qualifying matches on Saturday, looking up at the ranking screens, waiting for the "Recalculating Rank" to be finished, and there we were....6th seed in Curie, going from 47th out of 53 at the Midwest Regional to 6th out of 73 and finishing in the top 32 alliances in the nation was just awesome.
Another one would have to be coming out of Reliant Stadium after our last match on Friday when we got 218QPs, we successfully defended a 5 stack and were just rolling......we started the walk out and I was waving our Cooney flag and the team, waiting right outside the field entrance, caught a glipse of it and was just cheering and we all walked back to the pits and I looked over to one of my team mates and said, "You know we've quadrupled our win total from nats last year" and we laughed and said "This is a success, whatever goes on from here" I'm just proud of my team in general, we failed, fixed, succeeded, and had fun. |
I'm proud that we were one of the few teams to successfully stack multiple times.
|
i am proud of that we built our robot. 100% by the students and that we did so good at nats.
|
Growth
I'm most proud of our seniors and the people they've become. These uniquely motivated and gifted leaders have been the driving force behind our organization for the past four years. Becoming a complete team, expanding what we do, and giving back to the local and FIRST community are all due, in part, to our 2003 senior leaders. Seeing them (along with the entire team)recognized with the Championship Chairman's Award was the proudest moment in my career as an educator.
|
two words....Andy Baker
also , our team as a whole really came together this season and i feel that we had a really competitive robot...besides the reliability problems. |
i had a few. ONe is placiing so high at regionals (3rd overall). Our paw scouting system(thanks dan). The orgizantion with are team this year was great. But my almost was when we where place fifth at regionals and we went up against the first place(233 pink) and the 7th place team (forget who) and are team members blew there transmision and so we where by ourselves. We went up on are auto and it messed up so we got no boxes in auto. Then we went over and fought with pink for about 30-45 seconds to knock over there stack that would of killed us by alot. We finally knocked it over and then we went up to the top of the ramp pushed of pink and lost by 16 points but i was still proud
|
Has to be us winning two regionals, but yet helping 1086 with their robot and cheering them on was a great highlight too.
|
well.. as for the team.. would be getting together and working as a team adn winning those two regionals .. but as for myself.. im pretty happy to meet a lot of great people (my team and others).. this is my first year in robotics and when i joined i didnt expect all of this.... but throughout the year, i became closer to the team, met a lot of great people and learned a lot of great things... so.. im proud of myself and for my team...
|
I am proud that our team made a 12' foot arm that worked really well. we have always made robots that we had to work on like mad inbetween the heats so that they would work. This year we made a really good working robot that we just had to tune up before each heat. Also the this is our 2nd year in this competition (2 years prior in the CanadaFIRST competition) and we managed to choose the most rare stratagy in this years game. There were only 10 or so robots that had decided to make arms that resembled ours.
What a good year. I assume it is only going to get better from here. |
I am proud that we started out with $0 in our funding account and were able to raise enough money for two regionals and nationals and be able to FLY to Texas!
I am also proud to have seen the great emotion and pride that our engineers showed our students this year. We did not always have good luck this season during matches. Our engineers pointed out to our students that FIRST is about more than just the robot and winning. I was also proud to know that all of our students made grade requirements for travel to events. I was also proud to see Andy get the Woodie Flowers Award. Steve Yasick Teacher/mentor Zeeland-Fruitport Robotics Team 85:cool: |
I'm proud that this year everything really seemed to fall together.. Our first group of 4-year seniors had the best year possible, what with our Philly Chairmans award and Galileo championship..
|
Bringing home some hardware for once......
The four awards we won and being finalists at 2 regionals 2003: Arizona Regional: semi-finalists and Team Spirit Award winners Philly Regional: finalists and Quality Award winners New Jersey: Regional finalists and the longest and hardest to say award: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Entrepreneurship Championship: Archimedies semi-finalists and TEAM SPIRIT AWARD |
Winning the UCF regional, after working non-stop completely rebuilding our transmissions after EVERY match. I was very proud of my team for refusing to give up no matter how remote our chances of winning seemed.
|
i am proud of many things, and as i look back, its been the 4 years of awsomness that my drive team has had, second is probobly teams having such a great intrest in somthing that we built. and most of all, i am proud that team 16 gave us "The Most Feared Robot" award at Nationls, i think that this says it all, we were a strong and fast robot that did what we wanted it to do, and did it well
|
this is my first year in FIRST and i am proud of everything my team did this year, even though we didn't place well at Nat's, we still built an awesome bot, that did every thing we wanted it to, I'm proud that our team stayed together even after we had some problems on the Field, we were disappointed but we still stayed together and had fun, lots of fun in the hotel :) I'm also more than just proud to be part of FIRST, it has changed my life for the better i cant really describe what this year meant to me, it was just fun..

For me, it was having my team build a new motor mount, replace the old one, and allign the gears that had been pulled apart after being bent off during practice at UTC (HEY! our alluminum weld held!).
Then seeing all of my team mates pride in our suction system that we spent many sleepless hours on even though it was never able to be used in any matches at regionals. Never giving up on a robot that didn't move until regionals and was 45-pounds over weight 1 week before shipping after being swissed because of a misomuncation between the two groups. |
If I had one thing I said I was proud of this season...
It would be the effort of all the teams and mine that I was proud of. |
Sorry if this starts to bore you...
It has been an amazing year for me. There are just too many things to name off that I'm proud of, it's hard to pick just one...
Firstly, I have to say that I'm proud of myself for accomplishing so much with this team. I was afraid of taking on my position as leader in the beginning. It was a big job and I thought I was too small to take it on. I was able to survive so many hardships, but not without the support of my team. They are an awesome group of girls and I love them dearly. My team was able to make it through Sacramento's first regional. It was an awesome experience and a great thing to see here. I am happy to see that, as the "home team", we were able to win the Regional Champion title. I was in awe to see that happen. In Sacramento, we were also able to win the Motorola Quality award. I love this robot and what we were able to do with it is a major accomplishment in comparison to what we did last year. Team Spirit... enough said I remember at the beginning of the year making it a goal to have the team qualify for nationals. We're an even numbered team and I'm graduating on an odd year. I wanted my last year on the team to end with a bang and winning the Sacramento Regional got us there. In Houston, we were sitting in 69th place in the Archimedes division before our very last match. As driver, I didn't want us ending like that, especially since I'm a senior. I drove that robot like I stole it and managed to gain 210 qualification points. That boosted us 15 spots in rank to 54th. Not the best, but how we got there was great! Okay, so I'll stop rambling now. But, I have to say that the Fembots mean too much to me. They are very supportive and they never give up. I am sad to be leaving them next year. But I know they'll make me proud next year. :) |
Sherry,
It was great to see your team in Houston. We were cheering for you whenever you came up. You had a good robot and drive team, and lot's to be proud of. Keep up the good work! Go Fembots! |
3 things...
1. Actually rebounding from last year's humiliating season and doing really well. 2. 3 regional aniamation awards...we worked hard for those babies. 3. A #1 seed in Galileo. It's so much more fun when you're at the top:) |
At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging it would have to be the range of accomplishments and awards we received this year.
At VCU, KPC&B Entrepreneurship, Xerox Creativity and Autodesk Visualization, at Peach Tree, Leadership in Control, Autodesk Visualization, Finalist and Regional Chairman's, at National's, Winning every match we played in, Highest QP average of all divisions (199), Top Seed in Curie, Champions on Curie, Overall Finalists and Engineering Inspiration. It's a testament that all members of this team gave it their all! Every aspect of our team was a success. |
My team winning the chairmans award at the Midwest Regional. We have been working on the chairmans award since our sophmore year and we really never thought we would win it. I mean yah we try and do alot of stuff for the community and all of that but the competition in chicago was intense. That by far was my proudest moment!

I'm proud of my team coming back from the brink of disaster to win the J&J regional. Back in September, our team was in disarray. With no advisor due to district restructuring, we had no leadership. As support from the school dwindled, the students rose up to the challenge. They showed Someville High School, the Parents Group, and the adminstration that we wanted to survive, no matter how many hurdles they threw in our path. Despite losing funding and overall support, the team moved on completely on its own and was not only able to build a robot, but one that would ultimately win the Regional (and would have been a great contender at Nationals). When everyone said it couldn't be done, when everyone counted us out, our team survived and did what eveyone else said couldn't be done. I'm proud of that.

As for my proud moments: I was proud of how our team worked hard to make money for our program (as they will be doing this weekend). They wanted this program badly, and they were willing to do whatever it took to get it. I was very proud of how well my team worked together at J&J. We're new to this, but it was great to see our team pull together to try to embody what this was all about. Helping other teams, high-fiving our partners, handing out giveaways. These kids wanted to be there, they wanted to do this. So exciting to see them embody gracious professionalism. Making it to the semifinal round in competition, and the team not being angry that we lost to our mentors (25). We knew we weren't going to win that fight, but we wanted to put a strong showing in. We were proud of our work, and were satisfied with where we made it. During the time of nats, my team was home, and we were displaying our robot during the district curriculum expo. We had a NJ State senator and Asst. Commisioner of education come and observe us on our demonstration and take a photo with us (attached). I felt that we tried to make FIRST a little more well-known... After the fact, I was commended by the Assistant Superintendent of C&I for our district for having students be so excited about this project. She (pictured) had said that she had never seen students this excited about applications of academics before, and that I should be proud of myself and them. And man, was I ever.... |
Our robot's performance, how the team came together and grew, all the things I learned, and our Regional Chairman's Award. Sure I am proud of all these things, but overall and mostly, I am proud to be a part of FIRST Robotics. Without this program, I wouldn't have anything to be proud about and it has truly changed my life. Thank You FIRST.
