Real Names, Real Faces
 

Since Andy Baker is encouraging people to use their real names on the Chief Delphi Forums, I would like to encourage CD members their real faces in the Who Am I? gallery. It is just natural to associate a name with a face. Then people could recognize each other at competitions (unless you don't want to be recognized my name or face). You could meet people from far away teams for the first time and feel like you already know them b/c you see them on the CD Forums. The whole purpose of the forums is to interact with other members of FIRST. Overall, I think more pictures on the forums would increase the community spirit of the ever-growing FIRST community.

So I challenge you to post a picture of yourself, and anyone else (like half of your dorm floor:D ). You can upload pictures here . Just select Who Am I gallery and your file. The Title will be your CD name with team number in parenthesis, and you can add a description if you want.

In the age of digital and web cameras, It shouldn't be hard to get a digital picture of yourself. I admit it took me a while to get a pic up b/c I don't have a digital camera and I kept forgetting to scan a picture. I didn't have one till after the Chesapeake Regional this year. Try to be creative with your pictures. The "You on a Segway" picture is getting cliche (but still cool :), guess I am just jealous:( ). If you add a picture to your profile, reply to this thread so we can all see it.

P.S. Brandon I apologize in advance if you get swamped with upload requests.

Just a reminder to everyone, though: Team Logos and other pictures that aren't of you will not be allowed in the Who-Am-I gallery. :)

This reminds me .. new Who-Am-I picture for myself tomorrow..

Eh, this is me after having a bit too much soda...but people either think I look normal or i look stoned (thanks albertwu).

I think every CD picture I've posted has had me with sunglasses on but I think most people have been able to recognize me at competitions. Maybe I'll dig another picture up but there are hardly any without me and my sunglasses....they're just a staple in the Southern Californian wardrobe!

Hmm I need to find a new picture of myself from Nationals to upload. I think I have just the right one in mind too ... Hmmm, maybe I'll do that when I get home!

Now that I cut off my long hair i don't think many people I talked to will remember me, maybe ill do a before and after pic. :)

Well, I have a picture of me from the Pittsburg regional w/ DJ, Clark, and other Techno Kats crew members. (I'm the one in the center w/ the white jersey. That was our team shirt!!) I am going to get a nother one of me taking my picture with Dean or Woodie (I have both!!)

since i don't have a pic to put up yet, I'm Mark Arrowsmith. I was at Cleveland and Chicago. At Chicago I was the 382 member sporting the duct taped cowboy hat for those who might have spotted me.

At the time of posting, my pic hasn't been aproved, but it's me in computer class. I look "different" now, but still the same.

My real name (i gotta make a longer post somehow) is: Eric Hansen (no relation 2 the band hansOn)

I'm the one on the right. Can't hide from a picture that you don't know is being taken. I did my best, out of 500 pictures, I'm in about 8. And in my 500 pictures, I'm in 2. so 10 out of 1000 pictures, pretty good evasion!

Oh, and I got a haircut again, I look a little different.

If your hair is green you should definatly post it. Green Hair is the Coolest!!!:D I now have the greenest hair left on my team since my haircut left a lot of green hair (I though I would just have tips). Conrad on our team shaved his green beard and buzzed all his long green hair (we were calling him: "The Green Amishman":)) I have an after picture but no before pic to post. If someone esle on the team has a before after pic of Conrad please post it.

I have my new, and better, picture of my self up! It's larger, and at a better resolution!! :D

When I feel that this pic is getting old, I'll put up Dean's Picture!!

Blue hair and all, there I am at Nats.....That hair has faded to an ugly kinda green now....can't wait for my normal brown hair to come back.

Well, it's kinda hard to really recognize me, but that's me on the left, in the black wetsuit with the yellow tank. Everybody calls me SCUBA Steve, but I can't figure out why....

I'll put up my pic of Erica from 192 (who I bumped into at Great America last weekend! Man that was great!!) and I as soon as I get my Nats pics developed...Yeah, I still haven't done that. -.-

yes, i am a member of the kamen family.

no, it doesn't give me any special rights at FIRST.

i am a member of a team, and that's all.

i used to go to nationals just to see, but now i'm really excited to really truly experience it.

and i don't like putting up my last name. especially with anything relating to FIRST.

i made the mistake of doing that on a forum about segway owners.

they had to shut down my account. too many people asked if i could "hook them up".

anyway, i'm excited to finally be just another kid in the crowd. it gets kind of old.

especially when people call you lil' kamen. many think it's funny.

i am not one of those many. lol.

anyway, i'll be at nationals, look for team 1923!

i'm so psyched. =]

My pic is me at the UTC scrimmage last year. I look basically the same cept I got the eyes fixed last summer so no glasses now. Oh and the real name is Peter Matteson as it says in my AKA. dzdconfusd was my original AOL screen name back at version 2.0 in about 1995 and I still like to use it because I can remember it. If you haven't figured it out its an abreviation for Dazed & Confused that fit the allowable number of characters for a username back n the dark ages of the internet.

Oh and I go by Pete.

I don't see a need to change the username with the picture in the avatar. And at competition you could make a CD badge like this:

I just realized that in the over 700 pictures we have from kickoff to end of build season, there isn't a single picture that shows my face! :ahh: Maybe I should hand the camera off to somebody else once in a while...

Hey just added my who am I pic using the new CD media. I hope I can meet some of you. I missed the last two CD webhugs so I'm stoked to run into anybody on Chief Delphi. I'll be at the Hartford and NYC regionals with team 694!

Well, it looks like CD media works now. Just uploaded my who am I image with it. Couldn't find any from build season, so I had to settle for a picture from the summer of me in front Stonehenge. I'll update it to a FIRST related picture if anyone ever manages to pry the camera out of my hands... :rolleyes:

I see some of the pics aren't displaying right neither. Some of them are cropped until you click on them for the full image. Take mine for example, it's now centered on the Mustang and only has my arm in it until you go to the full pic. I wonder if they need to be resized?

Eh mine is only like 3 years old or so but still thats a little wierd. Oooh I figured out how to unset mine, that works, I may just end up WAI-less for a few days til I can get one at the UTC NE Regional.

Finally put my pic up a few weeks ago. Just hated to reveal my age, with all of the students on this forum, but it is who I am.

I think I'll skip my own picture, although I am thinking of posting a pic of someone really good looking. As for age, at least I am not likely to be older than any of our current high school students' grandparents...

The key question is -- do I leave my last name as "TYler" or do I ask Brandon to fix it?

I'm just glad my WAI didn't break the server, it's prone to breaking camera's for some odd reason...:rolleyes:
