Best Matches ever of 2003
Hey everyone im making this 2003 highlight clips video for possible public use to show people wut happen this year ...and ive been downloading a bunch of mathes from soap to get clips ive got alot so far but i wanted to know
Wut matches from everywhere are must see matches... things like rbots getting flipped or robots stacking or shotting boxes or good blocks or good ramp domination or just robot rumbling or just extremely great plays if people had any suggestion it would help out and thanks again to Soap108 the most useful site ever made for FIRST.... WELL SECOND ONLY to CHIEFDELPHI lol:rolleyes: |
unfortunaltly soap does not have the west michigan regional on their site, we had a match in which we drove onto team 858's bot in the last few second for the win. i dont believe anyone has done it to them other than us..it was quite cool and would have been good on your clip...if your looking for robots tipping, no offense, but look for clips with Chief Delphi's bot

Include both final matches at LA. Both highpaced, exciting, and battles to the end.
|
Definitely the above and also Match #13 at LA. 696 fipped both opponents right in a row.
|
Match 105 on Archimedes field.
Team 111 and 1108 Vs Team 469 and 237 111 and 469 went on to alliance and win it all. But the real star in this match is when my team 1108 makes an amazing move to the top to win the match 70-55. I may be biased but it was my favorite match. And as for promotion it does have the champions in it. Good Luck |

big stacking matches
Match 104 and 114 on Newton.
big stacking matches. Quarter final 3.1 on Newton was also really good, with a come from behind victory for the Blue alliance. Just amazing, probably the best match ive ever seen. |
I kinda like all the matches that our champs did that of coarse meaning Wildstang.
|
galileo match 8, 263 and 118 vs 312 and 814. first thing in auto mode 118 and 312 (both bridge bots) get up to the ramp 312 beating 118 and knocking them right over. now 118 is stuck on thier back blocking all the crates from entering the red zone, and getting 312 stuck in with them. match ended with 263 and 118 winning 49 to 46
|
Ah, biased-ness coming through, but the 2 times at SVR and the 1 time on Curie that our robot tipped and then re-righted.
And man, at nat'ls, so many good ones :D |
The last match of LA.
The match at Houston where Wildstag flipped 2 robots (forgot match #) That match where a robot drove THROUGH a box (someone posted a pic of it here) |

Also, team 121 I believe... Flipped team 126's robot in the one of the QF in the Curie division... So we got disqualified and us, team 188 got booted out while they went on... We were supose to win with that seven stack  Oh well... There's always next year!

I liked 1067's last stand, match 110 at stl regional. We were down to far in the quals and we had everyone(all five of us) busy keeping the robot and all its systems attached and functioning, swapping out destroyed peices of 80/20 and the like to do any advertising, so we had no hope for the eliminations. It was the last qual match, we were against our pit neighbors and good friends, fellow saint louis based team 1090, and (i think it was 877 . . it was eight-hundred something) who was ranked 7th, our partner was a decent pusher (not as powerful as us, but more reliable and lower center of gravity). We were going to do the odd and autonomous stuff, they were going to keep our stacks standing. Well match starts, the wing catches the ramp, but we still are first to the stacks (neither opponent had an auton mode, suprising when one was #7) and were feeling pretty good about ourselves with all the boxes on our side and our stacks up and we had the ramp . . . . well then 877 and 1090 decided that the two of them would overcome our bot and be able to push us and boxes onto their side . . . well, they were wrong. I love the video of us taking 877 in one wing and 1090 in the other and forcing them back down the ramp . . . .
well, we won alot to a little, but it was not enough to attract the notice of any of the top 8 teams. A shame, but we honestly weren't in the top 24 teams there. . . We may have been, but we broke down and slipped chains too often to be a trustworthy partner. We did it without very much professional help, and, well, we are going to use everything we learned to our advantage next year. If our current prototype design takes shape, we will be awesome. theres some big ifs in that sentence. |
Definately the last match at LA. Also the Quarter finals at LA with team 60. We pushed 60 off the top and then fliped their ally. We beat 60 in the second match but lost in Qualifying points because our robot was barely off the top in that match. Very high intensity match

One of the coolest matches was in the Archimedes division during the elimination rounds. The match was between 433 and 157 i think. Both of these bots have arms. While 157 is protecting its stack of 4 in red, 433 uses its arm to knock it down but 157 blocks 433's arm with thier arm. It was the coolest thing i ever saw. And 157 blocked 433's arm for at least 20 seconds. Now thats skill. You can hear the clashing of the arms from the stands. No kidding

470 Flips 1017 for ramp control:
Great Lakes Regional, Matches: 2 - Flipped ~ 0:09 remaining 503 Pulls a wheelie across the HDPE 94 - Wheelie ~ 0:48 remaining 470 Righting self after being flipped: Nationals, Curie, matches: 53 - Flipped ~1:05 remaining 94 - Flipped ~0:45 remaining I know it's mostly 470's matches, but that's all I really got a chance to see. I'll post some more after watching some good videos |

I think it was match 36 at midwest...we flipped beatty at around 4 seconds into the match(in auto mode) it was the most exciting moment all year for me because I was really afraid of them.
|
Our good matches were:
Cleveland 109 We and our alliance won in the last 5 seconds of play. The Killa Bees (33) were dominating the ramp and we just shoved em out of the way. Get it from soap NOW! Chicago 84 Yeah Baxter. With their knocking and our stacking, we rigged in 216 some qps (forgive me if i'm wrong, its in the lower 200s). Galileo 22 We were allied with High Voltage (231) from Pasadena, Texas (right around the area). Quite a bit of pushing and shoving going on. By not knocking down the opponent stack of 4, knocking over totes to our side and dominating the ramp, we got 246 qps. There was a lot of pushing and shoving going on, and it was the only pushing and shoving match we won in Houston. My Choice: ALL OF THEM :D But DEFINITELY Cleveland 109. |
i am extremely biased, and this is not the best match ever, but match 55 where we teamed up with WIldstang and made an 8 stack. We did screw up a little bit but the refs screwed up big time, by not cutting the power to the bot that was outside the field and eventually knocked our stack over. For the teams that were at the Florida regional and put up 8 stacks, in many cases had human players that were not back in time, or had only 1 robot attacking the stack, watch this match, it was war. And both waldo (from wildstang) and myself were both back with time to spare:)

You Need to Post the Following:
MikeT suggestion of the clashing arms! that was awsome. The final seconds of the 2nd final match in Arch. Both robots on the opposing alliance fall over trying to get on the ramp. Another ARCH. match when A robot named sparky I think righted its self like 4 times. 547 vs. 111- 547 does everything but flip over 111. I think they even drive over them at some point. 547 knocking over the whole ramp stack at St. Louis like 4 times. (including on top of us!) Anything of 111 or 16 crazy auto modes. |
yup that was us, team 384! WE were the ones that tried to push the chief off of the ramp in the quarters of the arch division. While we tried to push them off we feel on our backs and self-righted ourselves like 3 times i think, then our battery feel out. Then we lost! Noooooo
|
On the quarter finals(file name "gal_gf2m2.asf" at soap) at Galileo High Voltage(231) and Heatwave(312), heatwave knocks all bins and block the whole ramp on the red side and in the other side high voltage gets flipped by the killer bees(33) but high voltage(231) springs right back up then there is a lot of shoving then high voltage(231) hold both opponents for six seconds from getting on the ramp and at the end heatwave(312) holds the mounties(555) from getting on top of the ramp

Our most exciting match was match 118 Newton Field. We started match ranked 62 going against the number 2 seeded team, team Hot 67, a fellow stacker. We made two human stacks of 3, one on ground facing one way and top two turned 90 degrees to the bottom. to stop opp. from driving in and grabbing stack.
We gradually picked almost all the bins out of their zone with our robot. We had a stacker that could stack and carry up to 6, but didn't stack at all. Our driver was awesome in that he picked apart their points while they protected their 4 stack. We protected our two human stacks of three and our partners got on ramp. Had we stayed on ramp we would of had more, but we wanted to knock a stack which we missed, but still gave us enough for victory. At the end we finished with 236 QP and vaulted us up in standings from 62 to 33. What a great way to end our rounds. Unfortunately we were not selected as an alliance but we proved that we were a formidable foe. Thanks to all for a great year. |
The most emotional match from Great Lakes for me: Match Number 65
It was us and 174 against 1 and 33. Man it went down to the wire. Our vacuum plate didn't work thanks to the controls (some stuff happened, nothing was wrong with the plate its self) and the foam expanded and touched the ramp. Either than that, we would of won. (Yea, I was driving than, and i cleared out most of blue's boxes toward the end - that made the rush for the ramp. Listen to the announcer!):D Notice how long it too for them to decide! |
Being the driver of team #696 I believe the very last match in LA was the best.
But we have had lots of other good matches that we have flipped robots over. I also remember this one match that we were protecting our stack and both robots came to get the stack and one by one we flipped them it was real cool . |
Very cool
Lots of flipping i see but does anyone have any great robot feats? just something that look visually cool as oppose to being techaincally awesome hahaha but u guy been great .. cool material
|
I think the Semi final match one in chicago was one of the best matches.
111 74 vs. 65 16 Four great teams and a fun ending. |
dido to huskie65's pic, we were there 3rd alliance member. The first match in qf4 was quite exciting for the first 10 seconds or so.

hmmm, it seems everyone is a li'l biased here....
rather than participate in some shameless self promotion;), I'll nominate match 63. that match had 3 KOH bots(68,45,118) facing off, and i think that is worthy of notice. |

KA-108  |
try to get quarter final 1 match one from the new york regional. There may be two versions because we did a replay. But 19 got 193 regular points. Because we blocked the other two aliance bots from geting to a stack of four by ourselves with our aliance partner on the top of the ramp. unfortunately I don't think that soap108 will have it.
|
I hate to sound like I'm boasting, but one of my favorite matches has got to be the one at nationals (I think it was match 97, but I can't get the video so I'm not sure) where we (team 67) were flipped over during our autonomous mode, and when it came to driver mode, our drivers flipped us right back up and we drove off and started making stacks again. It was so cool!!!!!
|
Quote:
This is where HOT (67) gets flipped in the auton. mode, and then gets flipped back up with the help of the same team that knocked them over. In addition, HOT stacked a 4 stack, and there was a push at the finish with hot. It is a fun match to watch. You would never think that a robot such as HOT could get flipped and back up. I complement the driver of 67 on that match. Here's a video link of the match... Click Here to watch the match |

Well i know we did an 8 stack 4 times and i got back all four times with atleast two seconds left. there where a total at 5, 8 stacks we did 4 and team 233 did it 1 time... every one was back in time so i am just wondering what your talking about? Well it could be the one time i did not step on the pad till 13 seconds becuase i did not want our auto to go off but besides that i am not sure what you mean... As for best match i say match 56 at the UCF regional where we defended our 8 stack and were able to have 233 for a raw score. its a pretty good match check it outMatch 56 UCF |
