AntiCrombieDuck 08-02-2002 23:14

u guys need to stop complaining and just put the kilts on, u guys whine way too much!

Wetzel 08-02-2002 23:19

I'll wear one...
I may have to borrow/steal Heathers, but I will wear one!!
I expect to see others follow my lead...

mnkysp6353 09-02-2002 01:55

Well said antiecrombie, arent there any mountain people or boy scouts on this board.

Wetzel 09-02-2002 02:01

I was a boy scout...
Now I am just a scout...

Who will be wearing a kilt!:D

AdamT 09-02-2002 02:16

Dude, I'm a hill billy and us hill billies get cold too. Now those Canadians need not complain.

Carolyn Duncan 09-02-2002 02:56

Well, I now live in sunny Florida, but I'm still a country bumpkin at heart. I am always cold, except when I get hot... But anyway, were I to waer a kilt at nats it would be very easy to find me. Just look for the chic whos wrapped up in a big, fluffy, down comforter. If I don't have it with me I'll be the chic who is purple and looks dead. Neddless to say I will NOT be wearing a kilt at nats.

A. Snodgrass 09-02-2002 04:18

neither will I....just doesnt sound all that attractive a suggestion with the temperature inside the pit varying so much from the temp outside. heavy jacket I probably WILL bring with me however

AntiCrombieDuck 09-02-2002 11:14

first of all canadians, that is all i have too say ok.

Second, u girls should be wearing kilts too, dont make us guys be losers without u!

Dave_222 11-02-2002 13:51

I thought the kilt discussion was over?

Carolyn Duncan 11-02-2002 17:16

So how many people who plan to wear kilts are also planning to wear combat boots, have mohawks, and piercings? I guess what I'm really asking is are there any punks out there in FIRST land?

Wetzel 11-02-2002 17:28

I plan on wearing a kilt and having red and black hair...
Beyond that, just your 'average' robotics junkie.

Bondage 11-02-2002 18:11

I could work the kilt/mohawk/piercings deal...
Though I'm not exactly punk... '
I'm not exactly anything actualy...
but I do have plenty of piercings...
and could probably get away with a mowhawk....
Donno what Jeff would think of that though....

oh and Jeff.. you're NOT taking my Kilt. My mother would KILL me... plus... i'm considering wearing it...

Wetzel 11-02-2002 19:10

My mom has been bugging me to get my hair cut.....

<slow annunciation> H-A-I-R-C-U-T? </slowannunciation> What's that during build season? Actually I think I need to get my hair cut but it can wait until after ship. No time until then.

Wetzel 12-02-2002 00:16

I was thinking something 'outlandish' at reginals or nats.
Come home and suprise her with my hair cut.:D

Carolyn Duncan 12-02-2002 00:31

HEH, I did that. Mine was down to my waist, then to the pic on the left, then at regionals I cut it a lil bit then I colored it a lil and I had a wig. Everyday of the comp it was something new. That was fun times.

AdamT 12-02-2002 00:33

Haircut? I don't even have the time to shave! Maybe I'll just grow out a beard or something again. By the way, I'll do my hair pink again if people help me pay for dye!!

mnkysp6353 12-02-2002 02:34

GO CANADIANS!
So what if its a little cold in florida.

One of the engineers on our team is a professional tattoo and piercing artist, how about free tattoos and piercings? Im thinking a gigantic picture of dean kamen?

AdamT 12-02-2002 12:16

I'll take a tattoo!! I'll bring a design and everything!!! I may even take a piercing too!!!!

Wetzel 12-02-2002 15:56

I'll take a piercing...:)
I've pierced my eyebrow before, but I only left that in a day.
(I did it at school and took it out before I got home)

AdamT 13-02-2002 00:59

So do I get a tattoo??? I really would rather not wait until September to get mine.

Bondage 13-02-2002 01:23

April 6th is National Tattoo day - I plan to get my next done then... I want to get a fairy either on my ankle- my lower back - or my hip......

Carolyn Duncan 13-02-2002 12:27

Actually, I have my car back but Brian hasnt been around lately. Kinda makes ya wonder a bit doesn't it? Anyway, I will get him!

Dave_222 13-02-2002 13:04

A tatto would be sweet>

AntiCrombieDuck 13-02-2002 22:50

yea i say all us guys should grow a stash and color them like neon orangs or something really obvious, just too make a splash.

Sence when was there a national tattoo day? no one tole me:mad:

AdamT 13-02-2002 23:51

Some of us *even mentors* can't grow stashes. Now, maybe goatees or huge chops, I'll go for that.

AntiCrombieDuck 14-02-2002 12:42

ok whatever a little colored peach fuz is coo

AdamT 14-02-2002 13:40

No way man, see, it's not fuzz at all. Now, you see someone with prink pink chops, and that's cool. None of this stach stuff. That, or a beard or goatee. I'm not gonna try and look like my dad *he has a stach.* That would look rediculous.

AntiCrombieDuck 14-02-2002 19:26

ok, then u could go like pink hair elvis look, would that be acceptable?

Wetzel 14-02-2002 23:34

AdamT 15-02-2002 00:49

Cod, everyone's stealing my pink hair. GGrrrrrrrr.

Wetzel 15-02-2002 01:02

Not I, I will have red and black hair.
:D

AdamT 15-02-2002 01:07

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I think it's pink or maroon for me!

AntiCrombieDuck 15-02-2002 13:13

i think i need something obnoxiousley colored, like neon orange or something weird, maybe dark purple or something, whatchu guys think?

A. Leese 15-02-2002 20:25

*grumbles at not being able to die her hair*

Carolyn Duncan 15-02-2002 22:07

Awww It's ok Angela. You could wear a cool wig... I had a silver one last year that was neat-o. I have yet to figure out what my hair will look like for nats... I know it'll be short and other than that I have no idea. Why can't you use wash out hair dye? There are some that wash out really quickly.

AdamT 16-02-2002 22:05

Mmm, fun, a wig, over a head of hair, in really hot weather, covering where your body gets rid of over 50% of it's heat. Sounds like fun to me.

Carolyn Duncan 16-02-2002 22:31

Geez! You make it sound sooooo much more fun than it was... hehehe No, really it wasn't so bad. The hard part was the people who were messing with it all the time. That got annoying. The best part was when one guy ave me a flashlight, their team was giving them out, and said something about every platinum blonde needing a spotlight... That was a riot! It made the mentors on my team kinda give me dirty looks...

AntiCrombieDuck 17-02-2002 11:46

ok someone needs a mohawk! that would be soo fly. and if it was a girl, that would be even more funny!

A. Snodgrass 19-02-2002 03:04

absolutely no mohawk! My friends have been trying to get me to do one for the competition that arent IN the competition. I told them and Ill tell you, at least in my case its not happening. I wouldnt mind seeing it, as long as its not me

Dave_222 19-02-2002 12:56

Im not a girl but illget a mohawk.

AntiCrombieDuck 19-02-2002 20:40

Yea go Halo, please show up at Team 38s pit! U RULE if u get 1,i think i might rock the kilt if i can get 1

Dave_222 20-02-2002 12:59

FYI I wont be at nats. Ill be at the Philladelphia Alliance Regional.

Bondage 20-02-2002 17:45

Yeah. I'd be willing to get a hawk too. but I'm not going to nationals either. not enough hours. *growls* seems idiotic that 150 hours is "not enough hours" owell. Hope all of you have fun there!

Dave_222 21-02-2002 12:57

I have enough hours I just dont have $250.

AntiCrombieDuck 21-02-2002 15:11

ouch 150 isnt enough that stinx! we only had to make 100, after that i stoped counting

AdamT 21-02-2002 18:32

Shoot, our students don't have a certain amount they had to come *which really annoys me* but they do have to pay like $300 for Nats. I know I put way more then 150 hours in this thing.

Carolyn Duncan 22-02-2002 12:09

The students on Team 86 were required to sign up for 2 shifts, of 4 hours each, per week. They were watched to ensure quality work, meaning that they were helping or doing productive things and not standing around staring at the walls. After we use the club funds to pay bills the rest is divided among students to lessen the cost of their trip to nationals. The trip to regionals is so close that everyone who wants to go can just drive down. From what I've been told not many people plan to go on a day other than Saturday because of school. These kids are afraid to miss school... I don't get that... but yeah that's how our team works.

Matt Ryan 22-02-2002 12:18

Our team isn't going to nationals this year due to the School Committee limiting student field trips and events within the New England region.

We're very lucky to be able to go to UTC. Unfortunately, nationals will have to wait a year.

AntiCrombieDuck 22-02-2002 15:03

Are reguirememnts were:
100 shop hrs
20 Fund raiseing hrs
100$ down payment
When where done fundraising, if we dont have enough we have to pay the rest

Dave_222 22-02-2002 19:41

We had to be at 85% of all functions and pay $400 cash.

Wetzel 22-02-2002 21:27

We had to be at 80%, wich ended up being 180 hours or so, and $350 to go to nats.
We go buy school bus to VCU on Saturday so that is free.
We only send 10 students on Wensday night to the regional.

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 01:14

it stinx the way these things work out

AdamT 23-02-2002 01:18

Looks like about $300 for us. We go by charter bus for a 13 hour ride to Nats and 13 passenger vans to VCU. VCU is free.

Katie Reynolds 23-02-2002 09:20

We didn't have a *set* amount of hours we had to put in. Our advisors just chose who they knew put in enough time to go... so basically, if you worked hard throughout the whole season, then you got to go because the advisors would recognize that you worked hard. We are paying $200 to go, flying to Orlando on Tuesday and leaving on Monday. Yea. For MMR (Motorola Midwest Regional) Everyone on the team gets to go. Cost is $50 - unless you did fundraising at the Lego League competitions held in the area. If you helped raise money at the FLL regional, you got some money off and if you helped with the state FLL tournament (held at our high school! ;)) you would also get some cash off... if you helped at both, your trip to MMR was basically free! :D

- Katie

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 09:57

sence were in CT we go too UTC for free, and We fly too florida, and that becomes really expencive

Mike Bulzomi 23-02-2002 13:35

<eg>

mnkysp6353 23-02-2002 17:31

Our advisors picked who is going to nats. Its based on either participation or if your parent put in alot of time or money.

Ashlee if your not wearing a kilt, getting a mohawk, or dying your hair then what are you doing? I suggest skydiving into Disney world. Now that would be cool. Or you could do like me and dress up in a giant bagel suit. and scare the little children in disney world.

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 20:32

do they allow a sky dive into disney world, cause that would be mad fly

Justin I MIGHT wear my kimono one day...possibly...probably not though

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 20:36

arent Kimonos expencive

A. Snodgrass 23-02-2002 20:38

depends on what you get and where you get it. the simple answer is they can be. But then again so can kilts. And I already have a kimono

Wetzel 23-02-2002 20:38

They are when they are real silk.
Or you can go get one at a thrift shop for $10. It was polyester tho...:-/

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 20:38

got a pic? and how much was it?

A. Snodgrass 23-02-2002 20:41

I dont have a picture of it. It is real silk and it was a birthday present. I know it wasnt horrendously priced but then again it is very plain. Simple black. I also know my parents spent three days trying to find it for me. Hopefully I can find an obi for it over spring break.

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 20:43

whats an obi?

A. Snodgrass 23-02-2002 20:45

its the part you wrap around the kimono to keep it shut. Right now I tend to wear the kimono open. they can be very decorative and very pretty.

AntiCrombieDuck 23-02-2002 20:47

oic, is that just a girl thi8ng or can a guy wear 1?

A. Snodgrass 23-02-2002 20:51

its traditional japanese clothing for both genders. so, yes a guy can wear one. Actually I think originally the one I have might have been meant for a guy. Doesnt stop it from fitting well or being comfortable though.:)

kimono, mohawk, and kilt.

Marc P. 24-02-2002 13:13

i'm starting to like the kimono idea better than the kilts....

Wetzel 24-02-2002 13:32

Just a comment: most kimonos are not very good with range of motion. Such has contorting yourself to get under the robot to work on part of the mobility system.

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 15:35

yea thats the funny part!

A. Snodgrass 24-02-2002 15:49

which is why I would be wearin it open and have a t-shirt and jeans underneath. If im working on a robot im NOT goin to allow it to get damaged

A. Snodgrass 24-02-2002 16:40

and you think that kilts have GREAT range of motion?

AdamT 24-02-2002 17:13

Sure they do, it just all depends on how modest you are. :D

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 17:33

hey dont rip on the kilts they are cool, but yea i want too see more people in kimonos, LOL

Karl 24-02-2002 17:50

Funny hats: Yes or No?

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 18:23

duh anything funny of course!

trust me Im not but Ive worn kilt like objects before and I found that I didnt have great range of motion. not BAD range of motion but not great

AdamT 24-02-2002 18:26

Pants have their problems too. That's why I've concluded my this talk that naked is the only way to get your best range of motion. Therefore, we should all go naked at Nats.

Right.

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 18:29

considering that would probbably be illegal, i dont think we could do the whole naked thing. But on the other hand there are soo many of us, what could they do lock down disneyworld? theyed have too call in the army or guard lol.

Wetzel 24-02-2002 18:35

The old "They can't arrest us all" argument?
Disney has alot of security, and they are increadably anal about their image.

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 18:42

ok we have too out number them, and where would they put all of us? Lockdown on Disney World? I dont think they would waste that kind of cash

Bondage 24-02-2002 20:10

This is Disney we are talking a bout... they have their own "Disney Police Force" They'd bust our arses.

AntiCrombieDuck 24-02-2002 20:13

ok thanx for the support guys. Really i appreciate that.

Dave_222 25-02-2002 12:56

Just what the heck are you guys talking about?

AntiCrombieDuck 25-02-2002 14:59

Anarchy @ Disneyworld

Bondage 25-02-2002 16:16

Do it! Do it! Unfortunately - I wont be there - but I can lead the attack from the outside... do planning stuff... Have any of you read Team Rodent? It's about all the evil stuff disney has done... it's soo funny. Everyone should read it. Yes.. *laughs evilly* we will destroy disney!

AntiCrombieDuck 25-02-2002 16:25

is it just me or is this begging to become like the plot of fight club? but am i a sktzo? hmmmm....

What has disney done bad, Not the whole book, but i want too hear a funny example

AdamT 25-02-2002 16:40

Um, ever seen the orignal cover of The Little Mermaid? Maybe watched the wedding scene in The Little Mermaid? Little things like that...something about the male genitalia...
