I hate to get off topic, but I´m just a little confused. A college won a national championship? I mean was the team a high school team who´s robot was built by a college or was it the college who used college students to drive the robot.

Anyways, your list so far is from what ive compiled

Georgia tech
Verginia tech
Michigan Tech

Maybe ever school that ends in tech ? lol
Drexel
Ohio State
Northeastern University

Marquette University

University of Missouri at Rolla
RIT

Team #125 is sponsored by Northeastern University and TEXTRON systems. In 2001 my team won Nationals along with MOE and HAMMOND and 2 others (I can't recall), making us the first college sponsored team to become National Champions. TEXTRON Engineers, Professors and NEU College Students mentor area high school students... so that's how we work!

Thats how our team works too, except that the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is our only sponsor and we have 3 small local high schools involved.

Cornell University sponsors team 639 -- "Code Red Robotics"

I feel that more and more of the rookie teams are being sponsored by colleges, so your best bet is to look up the higher numbers! :)

Cornell FIRST team??

I'll have to check it out! It's great when Colleges sponsor FIRST teams, especially when the money comes from alumni and not from the college students' tuition.

On another note, for you engineering majors out there:

Northeastern has started offering Capstone Senior Design Project credit for FIRST related mechanisms and systems. So basically... you get school credit for building an awsome Drive Train for the team! (or anything else relating...)

So that's kinda cool.

Clarkson U has a similar program. Senior year, all engineers are required to do either a design project, or work as part of an integrated design team. FIRST Robotics is offerred as a senior integrated design project. Basically, that means we have 5 senior mechE's and 5 senior sparkE's that work strictly on FIRST for both semesters.

I'm curious if any schools have run into any problems with ABET (the accreditation board) regarding the use of FIRST as part of the senior capstone classes.
