Team Them Songs
 

All righty.... we have had threads about, Team Quotes, Robot Names, Team Names... ect. One that I have not seen asked yet is "Team Them Songs". Kind of how a movie usally has one main them song to it? well how many teams out there have one? you know, you sit back and you hear a song and your like "hey that describes my robotics team" or a song that your team can allude to. When I was back on 59 during the 2001 season our song was Tub thumping by Chambawamba... lol

I don't know, but I think the whole melody can explain this year.

We enjoy Survivor - "Eye of the Tiger" Our rookie year we won a finals match while that song was being played and this year we won a finals match where that song was being played.

"it's the eye of the tiger it's the thrill of the fight risin' up to the challenge of our rival..."

i think our team's theme is either hoobastank - crawling in the dark, the beverly's hills cop theme, or the Mission Impossible Theme.

We made a whole cd of songs that fit the fire motif for our team, the Firebirds. Our main theme song you could say was "Come on Baby Light my Fire" by the Doors. But we realized how annoying that song is and much to long to bear. I think at the moment we dont have a set theme song but you will always find us using our mad dancing skills in the pits to "Get Busy" by Sean Paul or "Ignition" by R. Kelly. THey dont relate to the Firebirds except for the fact we just cant get enough of those songs!

Surfin' USA by the beach boys (Redondo Beach gets a mention in there :D)

#1020's theme song is probably 'We're the Monkees' by the Monkees... bet you didn't see that one coming.

This was at least during my year 2001-2002. They were on our team CD that we passed out to everyone and were quite fitting. Burn Baby Burn in allegience with our team name HartBurn and then I Will Survive since I think we did really go through anything that could go bad. <oh man, having flashbacks of all the guys randomly busting into I will Survive...ALL BUILD SEASON!!!!!>

Our official unofficial song is the Hampster Dance.

Our theme song is either Spam by Save Ferris or Weird Al, though it depends who you ask. Most of the guys want the one by Save Ferris to be our song because the girl's "like totally hot." *rolls eyes* James Jones, however, is one of the biggest Weird Al fans I've ever met (Stacey tells me they had their first date at the Weird Al movie who's name I cannot remember atm), so he would vote for the second. The chorus from the skit about spam in Monty Python's also randomly sung and is what plays when both Warren and my's laptops are started, so perhaps that's really it. Oh well...maybe someone really knows the answer.

Our team used "Only the strong survive" last year... thanks to Vince (one of our engineers who is obsessed with anything and everything Elvis) The Rocky theme was pretty cool too…. We chose them both for the “strength” of our wings… (Cough-cough)

This year we had a version of Weird Al’s “Harvey the Wonder Hamster” song which was “Tippy the Wonder-bot” I have to say he didn’t tip THAT much…. But it was fun to sing.

There is always the cheer and the stick-clapping rythem too.... but eveyone knows that.

um... i'm not sure if we have theme song, but random eighties songs rock!!! although now i think we're leaning towards rap too... hehe

ComBBAT's is "BT - Revolution" The song is talking about technology advancing into the future and the "revolution" of computers and everything coming forth into the world, and throughout the song they say "ComBBAT, Better prepare to bust back!" It's a good song you should listen to it.

We go crazy over a song called Tunak tunak tun... It's my favorite song but I forget who sings it...

Ours is "Bad Boys"... the line "Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?" seems to fit the FEDS theme.

Our official song is Kryptonite by Three Doors Down, an obvious selection.

That is the best song ever! It's by Daler Mehndi.

I'm impressed, I didn't think anyone else had ever heard of it...

I would have to go with the song 'Bodies'... well, last year... we got into 'We're not gonna take it' at nats.

I didn't think anyone else knew it either until I came to these boards. Our team used to all do the dance to it and sing in those wee hours of build season ALL THE TIME. Also, when I came to college everyone had it on their computer, it was a little scary but still very cool.

For past years, our "Unofficial" song has been ::drum roll::

Mambo #5!! W00T! Lou Bega must of saw our team in action when he wrote that song! We SHOULD make that our offical team song... :rolleyes: :yikes:

I think that our theme song is "Hot, hot hot." In reality, we use anything that has the word hot in the entire song. We're very original. J/K!!:D

Well team 1037's is the Godzilla remix for Brainstew by Green Day. I guess we just like Godzilla roaring in the backround. Oh well.

If our team had a theme song, I would make it I feel so by Box Car Racer, or the Imperial March as performed by the Kline Project.

We do listen to the original version of American Pie in the machine shop often, so it could be that too.

The Fembots cannot deny that "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" is our theme song. I personally hate that song with a passion, but that's just me. At competitions, though, I'll break out into song, even during a match when I'm driving. :cool: It is played just for us after all.... :D

We made sure that "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" never became our theme song, despite our all-girl-team status. Way to overused and downright annoying.

SigmaC@T 2003 was more or less anything Ludacris and/or something that would in any way resemeble Ludacris-style music...

Robot moving music when we're late for a match (more or less, whenever we're on our way to a match...we move on final call..always): Ludacris - Move *****, get out the way.

What? No one moves even when you've got a team of 108'ers shoving a robot full speed through a crowd yelling "ROBOT COMING THROUGH" and your using a huuuge cart that you built with a big sound system on it.


At any rate, I've now compiled a playlist of things for next year. Its a bit less rap-ish, but I think it'll do nicely. When it's a little more viewable, I'll post it here.

Our team song would have to be Quad City DJ's - Com'on Ride The Train.

It all started when i used it in our chairmans award video entry 3 years ago and it has stuck ever since...

Unofficialy it could be Disturbed - Dropping Plates or Hatebreed - I will be heard. Or Beasty Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn.

Okay...here's the list so far. Now, my team will probobly kill me for not having enough rap on here. Im sure Andrew Hammer will bring his own CD too for the cart.

I also promise to play sandstorm responsibly. ::twitches:: Sandstorm was both the first AND second song I heard at Nationals. We seriously need to cut down on its playage.

Some song Explanations:

Boys are back in town: This will be played as we head back into the UCF regional (Regional Champs, heh, sounded like it could be fun to come back in with).

Mission Impossible: Can you say "108 Transmission?"

Sandstorm: Competition music....I may not even play it unless I'm the first one to do it :p

Firestarter: Hey, everyone's got electrical problems once in a while.

Around the World: This was played nonstop at nats two or three years ago. It was actually pretty cool at the time.

Over the Line: In case we have any more competitions where a robot must be in a specific scoring zone determined by a line.

One more time: On the offbeat chance we do happen to win any of the awards we won this year or in previous years again (like website, leadership in controls, or champs of something)

Our team theme song is "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. At VCU in 2002, our drill motors decided to hate us in the practice rounds, and started billowing smoke. We were able to fix them before our next round, but it was a good attention getter. The engineers decided that such a song would be clever to have associated with that accident, so we had them play it during another round at VCU and one at Cleveland, both of which we won. We also piped it through the pits and in the van on occasion too.

Team 1073's theme song for our robot was "low rider" due to the "stealth mode" that was dubbed on us @ the manch competition...that and that's the song we used for the BAE unveiling...:yikes:

"Low Rider" was our unofficial theme song for lil' MOE in the 2001 year due to his incredible limbo abilities. In the 2002 year, I thought the unofficial theme song for MOEhawk should have been "I Won't Back Down" By Tom Petty, because MOEhawk stood his ground and wouldn't back down no matter how badly his wings were mangled.

The Miracle Workerz actually have 3 original team songs. Eric Teather, the animation leader for the 2001 season, created them during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. They are basically a techno mix that features our famous MOE cheer.

i'm not sure about our team but at nats one song that jan kan played in the pit a lot was the Lowrider song, can't remember who it't by though. I guess that could summarize us as we were very very very low. Under the bar low. (size wise)

The triumvirate core of our team this year would go for anything from the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. Our freshman even has all the songs memorized from listening to it for hours on end every day of the week and he"s never seen it (he even knows some audience participation lines). The programmers, however, really hate it and will start blasting their silly techno and rap on a pair of speakers they stole from the teacer next door whenever they"re in the room.

In conclusion, we"d have to have the Time Warp as our song because we got started really late and had to spend hours every day working on the robot to get a working robot in time for competition.

Just a snip of the song, but my favourite bit. When I heard it today I realized that that"s already happened through FIRST. The results aren"t exactly a "giant cyborg," but we've created quite a parade of robots. Through the knowledge we"ve gained from our mentors and teachers, we children are building things in six weeks that 100 years ago couldn"t even be built in years by the best engineers. Just a little epiphany of mine...

I've always thought our team's should be "Puff The Magic Dragon", since our team's mascot is a dragon.

Can't fight the moonlight!!!!!!

No one will get this- most likely... but this song holds a lot of sentimental value for the girls on our team.. and probably some not-so-funny- memories from the guys on our team because they were sleeping.. but at least i can say we all have memories from it!!!!!

Best memory of the song- Cecily with her ear phones cranked up.. whispering it to me while i'm trying to sleep!!!!! AHHHHH!!! the MEMORIES!!!!

*Cecily- why are the guys banging on the wall at one in the morning.. do you think it's because of the surprise call from Leann Rimes singing Can't Fight the Moonlight? oh well... who knows... they can be so fickle!*:ahh:

We really dont as a team have a theme song, but believe me there is a big Cha Cha Slide thing from a party, and alot of people on the team just stop everything and start to laugh or dance now when that song comes on...
