Kinda off topic but the countertop that your circutboard is on was designed by my Dad. :p
It just kinda caught my eye and "hey that looks familiar"

we use our old robots, modify them, and compete in post season competitions. Since we are inactive its the only way we survive as a team and avoid dying out)

you want a challenge?

get your 2001 robot (ones designed to move the goals), modify it so that it can move the 2002 goals, without the help of engineers (students only).

or for fun:
build a 2003 robot in 3 weeks, again students only (no engineers).

yes they both have to comply to FIRST regulations

Bootleg Segways

Of course, another use for recycled parts are the numerous bootleg Segways I've seen at competitions and kick-offs. By the way, if anyone has some plans for one of those, let me know.

That link no longer exists. :(

[EDIT] I went to Office Depot's main website and searched around and didn't find anything. I wonder if this is company wide or just participating stores?

I am using parts from my teams first robot from 2002 to build a motorize cart to take the new 2005 robot from the pits to the playing feild and back. It will also pack up inside itself and become a crate to ship tools and parts. I think it will be a fun senior project this year.

It really is a cool idea!!! :D

Personally, my team is not old enough to have a lot of things to recycle (right now). But I know for a fact that we are building a comeletly new crate - which then designates a different future for our old create. What will happen to it? - you ask ... well that remains to be seen my friend! :p
Besides that, other recycled things that we may have ... I'd sumbit to the page if it gets started.

On that topic does anyone know if there is a limit on the size demensions for a robot cart?

Re: Recycled FIRST

I think that the main criteria is that it fits in your pit area and still allows your people to wedge in. Of course, if you put your entire pit on your cart and drive it to the field, you might have some trouble getting it past the doors/curtains.

From "17 Hints for Rookie Teams from NEMO" (Non-Engineering Mentoring Organization) which is in the final editing stage.

11. Always bring a cart to competitions. Make sure the cart with the robot fits through a standard doorway. Build a cart so that your team can make repairs to the robot on the cart. At competition, especially the Championship, there is a lot of valuable time spent queuing for matches. Teams can use this time to make quick adjustments.
