AdamT 03-06-2003 13:12

I'm on Stage 1 Part 3

no more time for this, time to go to work....

it's very entertaining though!

srjjs 03-06-2003 16:21

Hint for second: Lo_nger

Jupee 03-06-2003 16:35

Haha I feel silly for not realizing the first word right off the bat. It took me a minute, but hey, I got past it...

just add a letter in the blank, try the 26 letters of the alphabet...one of them makes another word....

Yea I just made it there, this one seems kinda tough

srjjs 03-06-2003 19:01

Yeah, 3 is not as obvious.
In case you haven't realized it yet, the number of question marks is the number of letters in the answer.
Does that help?

Aaron Lussier 03-06-2003 19:03

Thanks man I got... at the beginning it said you could use every resourse to figure out the answers.. so I did... I love google...

Madison 03-06-2003 20:02

Has anyone managed 1.4 yet?

evulish 03-06-2003 20:50

I have no clue on 1.3.

Aaron Lussier 03-06-2003 21:15

I have found the answers for questions all the way up to 1.5 If you want a hint PM me or respond to this post

i tried them all, and its still not working. this is so frustrating. :ahh:

/edit: i got it. realized you cant hit enter, and have to click on continue. but now in 1.3, i cant find the box to write in. is that supposed to be part of the riddle?? :ahh: :ahh: :ahh:

there is no box to write in. read the riddle.

evulish 03-06-2003 22:27

1.4 was simple. 1.5 took a little bit to get. Anyone get to 1.6?

Oop! I just did. That took a while. *pets geekiness*

I'm stuck on 1.7. I got quite a bit of the answer...but there's a few that I'm lost on.

(How many brothers for brides?)
(RIP race)
(And interstellar affair set in which year again?)
(Head in box)
(How many days after?)
(Smoking containers of beer)
(The state of Britain)

I don't know any of those.
Hint: use amazon

srjjs 04-06-2003 00:15

Each clue is related to a movie in some way.
There are numbers in the title of each movie, and you have to add the numbers together.

Yeah, I'm pretty far. Three cheers for noon dismissal!

Amanda Morrison 04-06-2003 09:41

I got the others pretty quickly, but 1.3 stumped me. I thought about it all day at work and I'm still lost.

Someone PM me and gimme a little hint. :)

Jon K. 04-06-2003 11:57

1.3 also is stumping me

Madison 04-06-2003 14:09

Okay. . .

Edit: Okay, got passed 1.24.

Now I'm on 1.27. I've translated the entire message, but I don't know the proper answer to the riddle.

George1902 04-06-2003 14:09

Yeah, 1.3 tends to give people a bit of trouble. It stumped me for a long while. The answer is important; don't let it frustrate you too much. As for giving you a hint... I just did. =-]

Good luck on 1.4 when you get to it!

KrazyKarl 04-06-2003 14:42

Grr.......1.4

Stupid 1.4
Headache...

thanks for the hint. how did you figure it out??

Madison 04-06-2003 19:08

Stage 2, here I come.

Does anyone need any more hints for stage 1?

srjjs 04-06-2003 21:53

Yeah, the message is being frustrating to translate. Can you give me a few letters to get me started or something?

Madison 04-06-2003 21:55

"Finally, well done, the end of the first stage is within your grasp."

Edit: I thought I was the only one still trying this. 2.8 is near-impossible to figure out and requires an enormous leap of logic. 2.9 *looks* easy enough, but, yeah.

Amanda Morrison 05-06-2003 22:11

1.8 anyone?

shyra1353 06-06-2003 00:01

still stuck on 1.4
feel free to pm me with hints

srjjs 06-06-2003 01:18

For 1.8, you need to count very carefully, but if you do, getting the right answer is fairly straightforward.
In 1.4, read the question carefully. There's a pun in the first half of the answer.

2.8, on the other hand, is frustrating me. I've got the message decoded, and I'm staring at 1.22 and not seeing what I'm supposed to do. Not knowing whether "or" is part of the riddle (French for gold, which is certainly not very hard) is bugging me too.

Good job giving a hint the same way as 1.1.. :P

1 hour and 40 minutes later, i'm at 1.25. Some were really easy, and a lot use the first trick "the type a word". The gry one nwas evil. the riddle with the boxed and all that was evil. Sheesh this is too fun.

Why do palindromes have to be so fun? racecar, mom, noon, madam im adam

sigh, these lyrics are truly evil.. it's not "these wheels" it's "big wheels" according to a google search.. sigh. bed is good at 2:45

Amanda Morrison 06-06-2003 09:57

Thanks to MUCH help by M. Krass, we (myself and the four people that joined me) ended up getting all the way to 1.14. What I don't understand (or rather, what isn't made clear) is how the colors are counted... i.e. - what is considered purple and what is considered pink?

I think that's what stumped us.

I think the most fun question was the movie titles... the only ones I didn't know were Hitchcock's steps, the vicious circle (man, that one made us angry when we finally figured it out!), and the state of Britain. argh.

Jon K. 06-06-2003 11:36

Someone please im me the answer to 1.4

I'll be really happy to know what you think of 2.9.

Coco the Monkey 06-06-2003 18:32

1.5 has me in a state of mental block.....

Melissa Nute 06-06-2003 19:04

1.4 stumps me...anyone care to help me?

tatsak42 06-06-2003 20:35

1.5: send the grandmother and mother at the same time. remember you can leave people there.

1.4: think of other names for a horse. you might have one sometimes. usually at night. just like the horse.

Melissa Nute 06-06-2003 21:15

Thanks to the help of M and George I'm on 1.6 now...

The intro is quite honest. When you take one of these, there's another one there. That is, "taking one" means creating one.

Greg Ross 07-06-2003 01:29

I'm stuck on 1.13

1) All my sources seem to indicate that Joseph Farwell invented barbed wire, but it was Joseph Farwell Glidden, and anyway, the single question mark indicates that the answer need a single initial. I can't find any reference to another inventor named Joseph Farwell. I suppose that if you overlook the Glidden stuff, and spell the invention as a single word, you can get a B, but I've tried that with all the other variables I can think of.

2) A Basilisk is a mythical creature with the head of a rooster, and the body of a serpent. I've tried (D)ragon, (M)ythical and (S)erpent (again with all the other variables.)

3) The captain of the 1966 winning world cup team is fairly straightforward -- unless maybe Bobby also goes by Robert.

4) It was fairly easy to come up with the city that the group Oasis hails from.

5) And for the purposes of this quiz, should Pip's convict/benefactor be known by his first or last name? (Only a single initial is requested.)

6) And again, the play that actors believe is unlucky to name is easy.

7) The archangel said to have defeated Satan is an easy one too. (Even though someone on the net wanted to make him a saint. Sorry, only humans qualify.)

8) Crystalline elements / compounds of which rocks are made? Can there be any other word?

9) Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork were members of which group?? Two words!! They want to include the article??? Strange!

10) The Jalapeno Chili is named after the city Xalapa in the state of Veracruz, but considering the pattern that seems to be being set up, they must want the country. But I've tried all three. (But I haven't tried the alternate spelling of Jalapa.)

11) And who saw the burning bush? Oy vey! What schlemiel wouldn't know that?

12) And as for who said "I don't see any American Dream, I see an American Nightmare"?? The only possible answer I could find was Malcom X.

Any tips anyone?

Amanda Morrison 07-06-2003 02:19

Re: I'm stuck on 1.13

Alright. Here's what I feel like offering...;)

1) Go with Joseph Farwell Glidden's invention.

2) For this game's purposes, I believe it is considered a lizard.

3) Go with Bobby.

5) Last name only.

10) Don't worry about the city or state, just think about what country the jalapeno chili pepper comes from.

The rest are easily searchable by the web. This was the hardest out of the trivia triplets, in my opinion. The rest were cake.

tatsak42 07-06-2003 03:05

Re: I'm stuck on 1.13 <--scratch that.. 2.8

Go with what amanda just said...

Anybody feel like giving the anti-gifted a hint on 2.8? Please? small hint...

Jupee 07-06-2003 03:32

Hhehe...I typed in something for 1.3 that was completely random...it was apparently the correct answer for 1.4 because I'm on the page for 1.5 now...craziness...

shyra1353 07-06-2003 10:07

finally on 1.5
thanks to tatsak42

For one, your answer should be two letters. It's a typo or something. As the game goes on, you'll see a lot of "mistakes."
As for 5, just use the most commonly referred to word.

For 2.8, the string of numbers is the message, the letters are an essential part of decoding, but are not meant to be decoded. Ignore the "or."

Greg Ross 08-06-2003 01:10

Thanks.

On to 1.14

Jupee 08-06-2003 01:29

Stuck on 1.7 I can't find all of these movies, or quite figure out what number is associated with them...I only have four left, and one that I'm not sure on:

(you??)
(RIP race)
(interstellar affair)
(head in box)
(the state of britain)

tatsak42 08-06-2003 02:32

RIP Race - think sylvester stallone
Interstellar affair - think stanley. :P and not hockey LOL
state of britain: 51st state

send ma and grandma at the same time.

this can be completed in 17 minutes.

indieFan 08-06-2003 22:27

Can someone kindly pm me the answer to 1.6. I've tried all the variations I could think of for it and came up empty.

Thanks,

i dont understand, because then doesnt one of them have to come back with the torch??

here's what i have:
bg10/b1/bm5/b1/bg2/19.htm

Amanda Morrison 09-06-2003 17:54

think about it...

yes, someone has to bring back the torch... but who says that a) they have to go first and b) either the mom or grandma has to bring the torch back?

hope that's enough of a hint.

melissa 09-06-2003 23:35

Thanks Amanda! now im onto 1.6.....

ok... i know you are right because obviously you got it, and i didnt, but im so slow and still cant get it because who takes the torch the first time then? and then who brings it back?

maybe i should just stick to studying for my last exam.

Blacknight 10-06-2003 23:37

They don't have to go first do they?

srjjs 11-06-2003 00:12

It's better if they don't because then one of them would have to bring it back.

Meredith Rice 16-06-2003 18:34

Ok, feeling a little silly right now becuase I am still stuck on 1.6. Can anyone pm me with some hints? Thanks

shyra1353 17-06-2003 02:02

finally on to 1.8

shyra1353 18-06-2003 00:07

im stuck on this one(1.8). can someone help me?? i read the post before that said to count carefully, but im still not getting it.
