Man, I am having nightmare of the leaking ceiling already. I can almost hear the watch dripping from the edge, and the little wind whisling noise from the corner of the window.

i think it will be a little better than that...at least i hope because i'll probably be in the same situation

Yup, I dont know where I'm staying either. I guess I'm splitting a hotel room with some other college FIRSTers?? ;)

But either way, I'll bring my infamous internal framed backpack, a sleeping bag, pad, and tent. So just leave me on somebody's lawn off a street somewhere... and I'll be content.

...It's only illegal if you get caught! ;)

My place of sleep is still unknown. Any other FIRSTers driving in want to get a hotel room with complete strangers? :D

Jeff,
I might be interested. I'm gonna have a crew of about 4, and we'll all be needing some place to stay. Ken L is in the same boat.

Unless of course, I actually end up sleeping in my car.

I may be interested, too. I'll know better on Monday, probably, but as of right now, I don't have a hotel arrangement.

To me, a much simplier solution is (when everyone is planning to sleep in their car) to ask the IRI officials and see if we can stay in the high school gym for the night. We can lay out sleeping bags next to the field ;p. Much better and safer than staying in the cars individually. Just a thought of course. ;)

That sounds great!
So... what "IRI official" do we ask?

Collin Fultz 13-06-2003 01:52

TOTALLY UNOFFICIAL RESPONCE

last year we were allowed to stay at LN thursday night but not friday night. i'm not sure why it changed from night to night. i would contact scott ritchie or andrew baker or libby ritchie via e-mail, phone, or david kelly to get a more official answer.

[edit]this was only for people who were on the field setup crew last year because we were there so late[/edit]

If you actually want to go in on this sleeping on the gym floor stuff, count me in.

(Just don't forget that I look like the little girl from 'The Exorcist' when I wake up!)

Would people actually sleep?

I certainly hope so, for the sake of our health. It is a 2 day even, with 1 set up day. If we get 0 sleep I doubt I will get back to California alive.

Have you guys considered staying at hotel? According to the IRI package, the Super 8 motel have a 6 person family suite that cost $69 a night. If we can fit 6 person in, that means about 10~15 dollars per person, per night. That's $45 for 3 nights. Not a bad deal.

Beat gym floor just a little bit, plus it have shower and bathroom.

Hmmm...ken and I were just talking about this a few minutes ago...conicidence? I think not? :) Anyway, pending the reply to my latest e-mail sent to the powers that be at IRI, count me in...

anyone still got a spot in their room open? i'll sleep on the floor willingly. but at this point, i don't have a ride yet either. Going to ask Big Mike first and then my dad about borrowing his car. Lemme know ASAP please? because if i get hotel space my mom might buy me a plane ticket for my birthday (tomorrow!).

thanks much in advance.
