more help with Inventor

I am trying to create a solid cylinder whose faces are at an angle (so that it looks like a parallelagram instead of a rectangle when viewed from the side), but everything i've tried hasn't worked. Is this really hard to do, or am I missing something here? Thanks a lot in advance.

Try the following: Draw a rectangle and attach two rectangles to its sides, then revolve everything about the common axis. Then, select "Share Sketch" and on the common sketch, use the mirror on evrything about your axis of revolution. Then, draw two triangles, one from the top left corner, then down to the last point that snaps, then right to the first point that snaps and back to your start corner. Do the same thing with the other side. Finish your sketch and select the extrude tool. Choose "extrude from existing parts" and "to both sides" (both are just icons). Select "All" in the menu. Then click extrude. You have a cylinder with a parallelogram as cross section.
I tried to attache an Autodesk Inventor Drawing file, but it seems as if the upload doesn't work.
Good luck!

Thanks, that did the trick. However, now I have a new problem. I downloaded the INV file for the Bosch 30x30 gusset from the First CAD Library, but when I open it in Inventor, it thinks it is only 1.102mm wide. I’ve tried importing from the other formats, and specifying different default units, but it always comes out tiny.

Import of parts into Inventor

I don't have a response to that, but I tried it myself with different formats and you are right. I thought, though, that you already had a similar problem with a different part (Thread) and that your question was answered there. Can't you apply the solution of this problem to your current one?

I'll look into it .....

I'll look into it.

Could be that I exported the file using the wrong units of measure. Is the problem unique to this part? Have you been able to use other parts with success?

The only part I have used from the CAD library so far is the bushing with 1/2'' length, 3/8'' OD, 1/4'' ID. It worked out perfectly and I haven't had any conversion problems with that part. To use it, I imported the file "bushing-fbb-4-8.stp" into Inventor.

The problem from the other thread was solved by downloading the INV file, but this part is too tiny even with the INV version. Specifying what units to use doesn't help at all.

My Bad ........

I found the problem .... My bad ....

I made a mistake when I translated the part from Autocad.

I'll upload the correction tonight and put an "updated icon next to the part" (Can't upload from work).
