Quick recap: with only 5 days to go, Maddie is still in the lead with 1000, Jeff Waegelin is in second with 900, and tied for third with 700 are Brandon & Sarah.

400 today. Cadabra was the original name for this online business.

Yep-- GoTo.com

Madison 26-06-2003 18:50

While it appears that GoTo.com purchased a company called Cadabra in late 1999, that doesn't seem to satisfy the criteria of the question.

It seems that GoTo.com and Cadabra existed simultaneously but independent of one another, suggesting that Cadabra wasn't GoTo.com's original name, but simply a company that they purchased.

However, as this link shows, Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos originally intended to name his endeavor Cadabra.

So, take that for what you will.

Ok, I'll say Matt gets 100 points...

No, Maddie is right. Goto did indeed purchace a company named Cadabra. But AFAIK, Goto has always been goto. Amazon's original name was Cadabra, but was switched to Amazon before it took off big.
