The Elctrons bring Priest Holmes, the Cruisers bring Jamal Lewis. Who will blink? The Electrons will live and die by what Tommy Maddox does and he should just bernch Moulds who is not going to be effective anymore this year with his groin injury, The Cruisers are happy to have Jake Plummer back and may get some nice production out of Todd Heap this week.

I'm actually suprised you didn't mention Seattle @ Baltimore. If Seattle does well, my defensive score will shoot up. If Baltimore does well, Chesapeake will probably win, as 4 of his defenders and his defense are Ravens. Of course, there are my two main men Tommy Maddox & Priest Holmes. Him bringing Jamal Lewis can put a dent in me though (as well as kill the afforementioned defensive score). I'd bench Moulds, but I have no one else. it may all come down to how Plummer does against Chicago. Or if Peerless Price suddenly becomes usefull with Doug Johnson under center for the Falcolns...

Wel.
Eric played after all but he isn't all that effective. He probably won't be anymore this season.

My players really hate me.

I play Holcomb, he scores a 21. I bench Carter, he scores a 42.

I Play Hearst, he scores a 3, I bench Bennet, he scores an 8.

I play Jurevicius/Toomer. I bench Jackson, he scores a 22.

If only I had started them Id be up 105-41... *sigh*

ooh coco, that must really hurt- having the second highest score and still losing... i'm rooting for you to make the playoffs because it'd show how much your team has improved- didn't you start 0-4? amazing....

No full analysis this week, only scores and standings.

Cooney Quest (6-4-1) d. Koko's X-Cats (6-5)
94-92

CB234(9-2) d. Snowballs (3-8)
129-87

Philly Cheesesteaks (10-0-1) d. Coco's Monkeys (5-6)
157-120

A few notes:
  • Four games were decided by less than 3 points, and three of them affected the playoff standings greatly.
  • We now have 5 teams vying for the last two spots.
  • #15 Pinman pulled the upset of the year beating #2 ValleyGirls with a high scoring Matt Hasselback scoring 56.
  • Speaking of sad situations, top runner Deuce McAllister (24) helped #1 Philly take high score (157), as his opponent (#11 Monkeys) takes the second highest score with 120. Tough draw for the Monkeys.
  • I might as well give props to the Cheesesteaks' defense too, with Minnesota taking 26, and a combined effort worth 72.
  • High scoring receiver Chad Johnson, with 30, couldn't help #12 Hurricanes beat #4 Dunedain.
  • Back to Dunedain, they become the fourth team to clinch a playoff birth.
  • Meanwhile, Bane and the Snowballs join the White Guys in the "out of the game" category.

I think I covered everything. Here's the standings after week 12.

Week XIII Results

R.I. Electrons (5-7) d. Snowballs (3-9)
117-85
After a few weeks in the dark, I think Rhode Island has finally figured out a winning formula: Maddox & Holmes. They combined for 57. Splash in a little defense (Seattle's 15 helped too), and the Electrons are now in a five team hunt for three playoff spots. Even though the Snowballs did better combined in running and receiving, a 13 in defense from the already eliminated Snowballs just killed them.

Chesapeake Cruisers(6-6) d. -To Be Determined-(7-5)
139-84
A pretty even game in offense, the Baltimorized defense for the Cruisers pulled whatever weight needed pulling. That's a 76 for those counting. Unfortunately, TBD was nowhere near as lucky, putting these two teams deadlocked in the final three playoff hunt.

Dunedain(7-2-3) d. Your Team Name (6-5-1)
117-103
I'm really not sure where to start this one. YTN by far had the defensive game 69-49. Unfortunately for YTN, that was it. Dunedain's Tom Brady outscored Jeff Blake by 23 and Hines Ward contributed another 23, sending YTN down into that deadlock for the last three spots.

Cooney Quest (7-4-1) d. Hurricanes (4-8)
89-76
In a game much closer than it should've been, Cooney was able to put Marshall Faulk's 23 to good use after being miserably humbled on defense. Of couse, if the Hurricanes had a quarterback, they'd probably be on a winning streak. Lack of a running back didn't help either, as the Hurricanes are eliminated, and in one swift blow, Cooney clinches a playoff spot.

Koko's X-Cats (6-6) d. 29 Patriots(4-8)
92-82
Both needing wins, something was going to be decided this game. And it wasn't Donovan McNabb's superiority. He lost the QB battle by 11. Everything else stayed remarkably close, meaning that the QB battle decided everything. The Pats are out, the Cats are in that deadlock of five.

Bane (3-8-1) d. Scrawny White Guys (2-10)
Already eliminated, the White Guys looked to play spoiler of one's playoff hopes and dreams. And then Jay Fiedler scorred 44 on Bane's side, and it was all over. Yeah, it's also worth mentioning a receiving game of 25 for Bane (and a 24 for the Guys) and that defense taking 48 (compared to a Scrawny 15). Even with the win though, Bane was still eliminated.

ValleyGirls (10-2) d. Nor Cal Crushers (4-7-1)
148-99
The ultimate Thanksgiving rivalry game took place here as Nor Cal took on So Cal. Unfortunately, like most rivalry games, it ended up horribly one-sided. Led by Daunte Culpeppers 39, the entire Girls offense was in double digits. That's a total of 106. It's enough to end the Crushers' season (despite the 33 receiving outdoing the Girls' 23).

CB234(10-2) d. Coco's Monkeys (5-7)
122-107
Another tough break for ther Monkeys, this one cost them their season. This was one of those conglomeration matches which had the defense taking precedence. This is how the Monkeys ended their season: down by 7 on defense, and losing all offensive categories (except receiving) by a slimer margin. Steve McNair's 30 on Monday Night Football was able to grant CB a comeback win.

Pinman(4-8) d. Philly Cheesesteaks (11-0-1)
116-106
Hoping to do what the ValleyGirls couldn't last week, Philly looked optimististic to secure the number one spot and end Pinman's season. Hell, they had Manning scoring 50... and then pure nothingness. No one else was in double digits for the Cheesesteaks. The wall came when Pinman had Matt Hasselback 4 behind Manning, and a Randy Moss 16 plus a New England 14. Staying pretty even the rest of the way, no solid conglomeration was going to ruin Pinman's moment in the sun... except that even with the win, they're still mathamatically eliminated from the playoffs. At least they went out in style, beating numbers one & two consecutively, and ruining Philly's chances at being undefeated.

EddieMcD 03-12-2003 19:13

A few notes for the playoffs:
  • Philly, ValleyGirls, CB, Dunedain, and Cooney have all clinched.
  • Chesapeake, TBD, and the X-Cats will clinch with a win.
  • YTN needs a win, and a loss from either one of the Cats, TBD, or Cruisers. They can also settle for a tie from any one of those teams or a tie themselves provided their fantasy score is high enough.
  • The Electrons need a win, and a loss from any two of the Cats, Cruisers, TBD, and YTN. R.I.'s high fantasy score will help them break any ties that this will cause.
  • The Monkeys, Pinman, Nor Cal, Bane, Patriots, Hurricanes, Snowballs, and White Guys are done for.
  • An intresting battle in the top 3, CB faces Philly, and the Girls have the basemented Guys. Keeping in mind that the Girls currently have a 60 point fantasy lead on Philly and a 134 fantasy point lead on CB, if CB beats the Cheesesteaks, Philly will move behind CB in ranking, and if the Girls lose, CB will jump into first. If CB beats Philly and the Girls win, the Girls, barring a 200 pointer from CB, will take the coveted #1 seed award. If Philly wins, they are #1, plain and simple. In that scenario, the Girls, win or lose, will take second (unless, again, CB pulls a 200 pointer, in which case, Philly's score would be through the roof). In case of a tie between CB and Philly, Philly will be ahead of CB, a Girls loss would put them in third, and a Girls win would put them in first with superior fantasy score. If the Girls tie, a CB win puts CB in first with the Girls taking second due to fantasy score, and a Philly win would put Philly in first, Girls in second, CB in third. Finally, if both games are tied, Philly takes first, the Girls would have second with a better fantasy score, and CB would be third. Either way, none of those three are finishing worse than third. Did you get all that?

I think I covered everything. Here's the standings after week 13.

Wow...that was very thorough. Perhaps too much time on one's hands? Anyway, in the spirit of the ValleyGirls, I'll be cheerleading for CB this week (sorry Philly). In the words of Richard Fish of Ally McBeal....""Helping others is never more beneficial than when it's in your own self-interest."
