Lurkers - Show that you are out there!

I know a lot of people come to CD.com and just read. They don't/won't post. Well - here is your thread. Just stop in and put anything down - just to show the rest of us that you are out there!:D

Carolyn Duncan 11-07-2003 16:50

Some of us are trying to get reaquainted with what is going on because we have been away for so long or just haven't been able to get to posting... I'm trying to get back around more!! I really am- even if there are still people out there who are going "UHG!"

EddieMcD 11-07-2003 18:09

Hey, it's Carolyn!

::waves to Carolyn::

Remember people, there's nothing bad about lurking. Hell I stayed well hidden for a while myself. Show us that you exist!

Amber H. 11-07-2003 23:43

Hi,
I'm still here; just extremely busy.
Sorry if I seem to have been ignoring you guys. I'm not really. I think about the CD gang often. I doubt I will be posting much in the future as I sometimes (usuually) feel like I am making an unwelcome fool of myself.
I will however, soon be asking for some input for a possible scene in a book, involving a propane type bar-B-Q grill and the probability of it being turned into a self propelled vehicle in either an emergrncy situation, or just an act of rebellion against a BBQ obsessed parent (I haven't decided yet. Fiction can be so messy in the early creative stages). I refer to the scene loosely in my files as "Meals on Wheels!"

robot180 12-07-2003 01:04

It is funny that you should say that cause it seems like I post a lot of stuff but everyone ignores my posts, unless I start a new thread. It is like one step above talking to myself. hahaha

...i never talk to myself by the way.

Matt Attallah 12-07-2003 10:17

No, no, no.

I didn't want anyone to be offended. I just wanna see more people. It seems like in the off-seasion - only about 10 people constantly post - and I wanna know who reads it.

Mabye it can be a point for people to come out of their shell and post something for once!

:)

EddieMcD 12-07-2003 13:16

<shameless plug> Playing FIRST Jeopardy is a good way to come out of your shell.

::points people to the Triva Game forum::

Have fun. </shameless plug>

kristen 12-07-2003 16:02

I lurked for like 2 months before I signed up. Then I lurked awhile more before I posted anything :D

tatsak42 13-07-2003 13:47

I like idling and lurking. Though you can't idle on CD... Ah well.

/me continues lurking.. and occasional posting.... (????)

Matt Attallah 15-07-2003 10:58

:yikes:

Comon all you readers out there! I expected to see more than this when I got back from Chicago!!

Get to postin' in here! Just one little letter, or a binary number, or something!!

Just post! ;)

(Don't be afraid of posting - CD.com shouldn't bite...)

It's ok to lurk a whole lot in the begining so that you can see what's going on with the boards. I have much more respect for those who lurk and post intelligently thean those who bring up things that get posted like 5 times a day.

Ashley Weed 15-07-2003 12:40

Hehe... a note to all - 'Be sure to read a thread no matter what the title may be!' (I was way off with the content of this!)

... anyways, it's cool to be hidden when you get into the swing of things... I followed throughout the busy 2002 build and competition season, and right after PARC... I decided it was time to speak up and become noticed! :) Speak up and become noticed on CD; let us know what you think... and add another perspective to topics!

P.S. I know of lurkers... actually a very active lurker *cough* whom doesn't post much *cough* maybe an average of one post every 4 months *cough* :p

EddieMcD 15-07-2003 14:42

I imagine if there wasn't the chit-chat forum, there would be a lot more lurkers. In here, we can be ourselves without the seriousness. Of course, you can be serious in the other forums and crazy here. Now that sounds familiar...

/me waves to carolyn (my secret hero) And Eddie (My other hero).
I'll wave to Maddy too, but she doesn't lurk. She's the anti-lurker, involvement, super girl.

Dave_222 15-07-2003 22:41

I soo rarely post anymore.. I dont really know why.

I would agree, if there wasn't a Chit-Chat forum, I wouldn't even go on CD except maybe like once or twice during the build season. I think it is great that there is a place where people all with the same interest, robotics, can go and talk. It also helps people on different teams to meet each other since we are only together for a few three-day competitions every year.

I think it's kinda funny that the only forum you use on a website filled with people who share the same interest as you is the only forum that isn't about that interest.

i dont know if i could be considered a lurker. i post, but it varies how often depending on the amount of time i have and what my days are like. like right now, im in england and access to computers is limited and i would rather spend my time exploring Oxford than spending time on the internet when i can do that at home.

Coco the Monkey 18-07-2003 13:19

Lurker?.....

For you starcraft junkies, Yes, I like to dig holes and shoot spiny things around myself in a radius of 10 feet...

Lurkers on CD...yeah, I guess I was one at some point in time. Then came the time for me to go to bed after registering my new CD name.

CD lets me meet new people. Interesting people. People I have common interests with. People I can be myself around. Without others, I'd go nuts!

Lurkers or not, feel free to PM me here, or on AIM at: Oreofetch

GO LURKERS!
