What I think would go over well - those 'compatibility' tests that people take and have the results sent back to them, to find out who they are compatible with in their high school.

Imagine getting one of those, but with everyone in FIRST!

this is an awesome idea. i am in the process of answering the questions right now. however, i think that you should ask the people whether they are male or female, because you cannot always tell by peoples names. as well, i think you should have an other category.

Wow, I've proposed this idea (jokingly) to so many people; it would be like a FIRST scouting database but for people. I just think it's funny that how girls love doing match making and most of the responses in here are from girls even though the ratio of guys: girls in FIRST is slightly unbalanced.

As you can see, I'm on a different name than before. My other ChiefDelphi name is freaking out and won't work so I had to make a new one. Anything regarding Robotics Romance should be sent to my AOL account, JMerc17@aol.com. If you must send something on ChiefDelphi, sned it to this name, JMerc17. Now that that's cleared up let's get to the good stuff!!

Robotics Romance is a growing success. Keep sending the applications in, because the more people we have, the better chances you have of being matched up with someone who really suits you! Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL IN THE APPLICATION. Again, even if you've already sent your quesitonaire in, make sure you get your email to me so I can contact you.

well its kind of a running joke on our team. i was once called lindsay by a man who i had been working with on a team for 2 years. this simply justifies our belief that the public relations girls on our team get ZERO respect. so we decided that to make it easier for all the people on our team, we would all be called lindsay, so that they wouldnt have to remember all our names. lindsay would be the generic one.

well, to answer all of your questions:

there are far more girls submitting applications than guys, which is a little difficult to work with, but its not too bad

sometimes when 2 people are a match, they can live really close or really far away. i try to make them so that they are not more than like 500 miles away, but it is rather diffucult. a lot of this is just to meet new people and to improve team relations and to start strong ones.

you do not have to be a free agent (single) to send in an application, however if you are not a free agent, im guessing your girlfriend or boyfriend might have a small problem with it. although this service can simply be to make new friends, there is a slight emphasis on hte romance part. hence the name

I am considering sending in an app., but what happens after your match is given to you? Do you get an IM or e-mail address and start up conversation or what?:confused:

How are you (whoever is doing this) actually deciding who is a match for who?

The fact that two people have the same favorite movie or like the same kind of music has very little to do with "compatibility," in my eyes.

Not that I think it doesn't work at all, I just have my doubts about any kind of system like this.

online there are things that u can get, like one my school did, and i was pretty good, i just forget the name, i think it was "data-match"

I'm not exactly sure how they are matching people... however, I must just say... don't hold back on sending an app. One of the questions is everything you look for in someone else.

This all sound pretty interesting. I'll send in an app. to satisfy my curiosity and see what turns out in the end.

Just for all of you who are curious....

When you send in an application, I see if you match up with anybody and then email you asking if it is ok to give your information out to the other person (your email, AIM, etc). If you and your match both agree, you have each other's info and can begin talking whenever you choose.

Just remember- FIRST is all about meeting new people and coming together for a common goal to succeed. We just want to have fun here, so if your looking for some of that, send in your application. We dont expect to set anyone up with their life partners- this is just a fun way to meet new people. With that in mind, why not send in yours, and see who pops up!!!

Haha, i live for the day that a guy actually wants to join "Lindsay"!

It would be entertaining if someone commuted to CT just to be a part of Lindsay... it'd be nice to see a new face or two.. seeming as we could fit the town of Old Lyme on the lawn of the Hartford Meadows... possibly three times over... excluding the summer people, of course.
