Video for kickoff in 2004

Hello all. This may not be the best place to put this thread, but the closest thing I could find. Anyway, I've been talking to a couple of teams and we'd like to setup a wired/wireless network for kickoff so teams there can download the video from kickoff right there. We're also talking about burning CD's or making VHS tapes for teams who either don't have a laptop they can bring or want another copy. Our question in this one is would you be interested in getting a hard copy either at the kickoff or after the kickoff? Any further questions can be sent to lmachadoiv@inspirationinc.org. Anyway, talk to you all later.

Since most computers now have DVD- or +RW or whatever, can we make copies of the kick-off available on DVD format?

Leon Machado IV 21-07-2003 10:31

It is being considered. It would depend upon if we can obtain DVD burners. We may be able to burn it there for you to take home.

Using DVD's instead of CDR's would mean it would cost more money to do, and less people's computers would be able to handle the task, though they can still watch it on a television. It's debatable.

We could probably do both if we had the technology and a couple of buck for a CD and maybe a buck or two more for a DVD is what I'm looking at so it's not too too bad.

I'd pay for a nice DVD of Kick-Off. What if we charge a small fee for a DVD version that has some extras?

CD and VHS would be free. Or we can also make it free if you BYODVD (bring your own DVD).

True true, all things to think about

Definitely. On one hand, you have CDR's, a cheap medium that every computer can handle and offer more extensive usability than VHS. On another, there are VHS tapes, which are getting outdated, but still can be used in nearly every household. And on a third (?) hand, there are DVD's, which can be used by all DVD players, which are very popular, offer more extensive usability than VHS tapes, but are quite expensive.

Disclaimer: This post assumes that the previous references to having the kickoff on a CD media meant in a computer-only readable format. If this was not the case, then please burn this post. Thank you.

What about Video CD(VCD)? Yes, you are only limited to 74 min per disc, but it uses standard CD-R media, and just about every DVD player I've ever seen has support for VCD...
