Brazil?

Hey, I was just wondering, it would be great to have some kind of exchange program between american an brazilian students (related to robotics), I mean, we've just passed for our first FIRST competition this year, we have a lot to learn, and a lot of experiences to share, but we are a little bit far, so maybe some exchange project would be a nice idea! We would appreciate to receive students, teachers, anyone who is interested in sharing experiences! What do you think? Suggestions, comments, pleeeaasse! :D

wow, I think that's a really good idea.
Build robots, meet new people, new cultures, go to a another country - who could disagree?!:D

Cool! I was almost thinking that nobody liked the idea
I think it's possible and it would be nice! We're waiting for your visit! :D Anyone else interested?

It'd be interesting, except for one problem...

I'd be speaking, at best, poor "dirty" portugese (did i spell that right?).

We used to have a Cantor at my Temple (guy who leads all the songs and what not), and he was this huge guy from Brazil. He was really cool, but called spanish "dirty portugese" :p.

also the whole lack of money thing (it all goes to FIRST ;))

It wouldn't be a problem, as you speak some spanish, it wouldn't be difficult for you to learn some portuguese, and here you'll easily find someone who speaks english (or at least try, as I do:rolleyes: besides, you will learn portuguese! Isn't it something? :p )! About the money stuff the only cost you would be the plane tickets, and the money you would like to spend here buying things, or something like that, I mean, everyone who would like to come here will have a place to stay, food, I mean all the necessary support! :D

as an alternative.. or maybe even the beginnings.. to share experiences, etc. anything prior to hands-on... could possibly be done through DL? high schools around here average max of 400ish students.. and we have access to it, so perhaps others would too? I'm not sure if this is a Brazilian possibility though? Deffinately keep me updated....

Sorry, but what is DL? Could you explain for me? Sorry again and thanks in advance! :)

Distance Learning.... it's where you actually take classes through a different school.. far away from your school or close to your school. You watch and talk live through a satelite/tv/phone system set-up.

Oh, got it! We work with these programs in our high school. Almost all the Marist high schools here in Brazil are connected through this method! It would be a nice way either! :)

I think it's a great idea!

?

In the name of our high school I´d like to say that all foreign students will be received with great pleasure by us.

It´d be real nice to share experiences together.

Please let us know about any effort in this direction.
