We ran on Saturday and noticed some flex in one of the drivetrain gearboxes, worked till 10 last night for reinforcement now thats fixed. Next problem, the power is ruining the wheels fast enough that there was rubber bits all over the field. To all who haven't found out: Moving a goal is really quite easy forward and back. Rotating a goal out in front of you takes an incredible amount of traction if the goal is at a standing stop. We have no problems once on the move. There is going to be such a fine line this year between maximum power/traction and carpet destruction it isn't even funny. I thought we had the balance but back to the lab for something else for traction. One good note is this is the first time we were driving before week 5 so there actually is time to fix it before shipping it, what a novel idea.

Good luck to everyone:)

Well define running... We have a moving base, a really nifty frame, however they're not connected as of yet. Our drive train is being completed, and the rest of it is coming together, but since we have a base, we're driving.

We have enough to drive, and we were towing the goal last night.... but we definitly have a lot of refining to do

I see there is alot of robots not even moving yet.

I would think that would be the first thing you get up and running by now.

Our robot has been up and running for almost two weeks. this is how we can find out if we can pull or push many goals. without this knowlege you are pretty far behind.

Our task at hand is all the other things the robot has to do.

1st get base running
2nd look at how to pull or push goal?
3rd look at how to pick up ball?
4th look at how to pick up robots?
5th Look at how to score in both end zones?

Finished 1,2,3
we are now working on the 4th thing :D

I just have to say you only have 3 weeks left use it wisely

isn't modules great.

Our robot has actually been driving since a couple days after the kick_off.

Manual Overdrive is ROLLING!

Our team (343) got "Manual Overdrive" up and running last night. We robbed some parts from our retired robots and were able to enjoy the thrill of a functioning machine after many long days and nights.

To those who seem to be a little behind, have faith. Help you team as much as you can. We are pulling for you! We hope to see you at a regional and THE national.

Driving? Hahahaha

We have a prototype that uses our drill-motor drive train from last year. If drives in straight lines beautifully, and can move about 12 M.P.H. with me riding on it, but turning 90 degrees involves waiting for 20 seconds and melting the carpeting. Our drive train system will arrive mostly by next thursday :(

we started driving on tuesday. ours sure does plow!!:D

AWiser 31-01-2002 13:57

We are doing much better than I thought we were, please disregard my earlier post. I'm sorry to have caused any trouble.

driving

The only driving going on in beautiful Gilbert, Arizona is the team driving Mike Rush "CRAZY".
We are very close to movement (I refuse to say what type of movement).

PS. Sunday is Super Sunday because our fearless leader, the one, the only, Mike Rush turns FORTY. Happy Birthday MIKE!!!

Our chassis is probably about 90% done, and pneumatics are working for the "system". Sorry can't tell you what the "system" is it's classified! We are not drivable yet but should be by Friday!

Yay to planning ahead!

team222badbrad 31-01-2002 22:42

We are allmost done!!!

The only major things we need done is the (skins/decals) and to finish up my secret extendomatic.

I am not gonna say what that is!!!!:D  hehe

We also need to practice, fix bugs, and beat it up a little to see how durable it is?? Its almost time to post pics wouldnt you say????

Bad Brad.

Well I am going back to study and sleep. Then I wake up browse the forums on here. Go drive and test and build a little. Then come home and browse again. Then go back to sleep and school

Our base is machined and done, sitting in our lab, hehe, we should be moving around by Sunday.

Oh and to team 258, Thanks for Stokely :D

BP_360:

You're welcome... I hope Stokely is having fun up there with you guys. I called him on his cell phone as he was driving away from one of your meeting.... Sounds like our robots will be similar in strategy. Please tell him we miss him, since it's kinda hard/expensive for me to call long distance to chat. But also tell him that if you guys qualify and go to Nationals... we'll be there and eager to beat him :-D. Good luck to 360 Degrees!
